Chapter 23
Rakhaa wanted to hear the screams and the cries of grief but yet there was nothing, everything appeared normal in the palace. Like nothing ever happened. This is ridiculous! He thought as he pulled out the dagger and dipped it in the poison.
This should be enough to kill that woman for once and all! He thought as he put the dagger in it's sheath, he wrapped the loose end of his turban to hide his face as he walked in the shadows that helped him camouflage himself as he wore completely dark clothes.
He pushed the door open and entered in, the only thing illuminating the room was the twilight of the moon. The wind moved the curtains softly, his eyes travelled to the bed where he saw her lying down with the blanket covering her.
For once and all, he would finish the story of this woman. Yagseni she is named soon she will return to where she had taken the birth, to the fire. Where she would be nothing but ash, he only had one regret, that someone so beautiful didn't survive. Than again, beautiful things were delicate those pandavas should have been more careful.
He walked in an evil smirk on his face, tonight shall he butcher her, cut her into pieces and scatter those all over the palace. Let the pandavas find each one, and cry holding it close.
The thought made him smile. As he got closer the smile on his face disappeared, and his face converted in an expression of awe as he looked at the sleeping woman, as the world said she was the most beautiful.
Her dark hair surrounded her, her pouty lips pulled back in a peaceful smile, her unblemished skin glowed with an unnatural beauty. He couldn't stop himself as the unexplained need to touch her came over him, he moved his hand towards her.
A dagger came flying and embedded in his outstretched palm, he screamed in shock and in pain as he jumped away from her, like she had just electrocuted him. "He screams like a girl jyest." Nakul said from where he lay on the swing leisurely. His one hand under his head and the other one had an apple in it that he bit as he looked at Rakhaa, like he was a mosquito who annoyed him.
"Naah don't insult the girls, he sounded more like a mouse." Bheem said from the couch, where he sat looking completely relaxed.
Rakhaa looked around the room and noticed that all the pandavas were there, Yudhisthir sat with Sahadev playing the dice game. While Arjun stood near a pillar and by the looks of it Rakhaa instantly knew that it was him who had thrown the dagger, they were all relaxed like Rakhaa was no danger. This not only confused Rakhaa but infuriated him.
"You think this is a joke?" Rakhaa asked menacingly, "I'll tell you what is the joke. Me killing your innocent wife. Me poisoning the kheer and Arjun feeding her it. I mean how does it feel to be the reason of the death of the one person you love so much." Rakhaa spat his eyes a dark red.
The pandavas all began to laugh, Rakhaa looked at them confused. "Oh he's so stupid!" Nakul said as he pointed at Rakhaa. "Why are you laughing?!" Rakhaa shouted. "We who are literally aware of her breath, you think you would plan her death and we won't know?" Sahadev asked looking at him, like he was the most stupid person in the world.
"This is not Hastinapur, where Mamashree Shakuni can play his games. This is Indraprasth, here lives are valued not played with." Yudhisthir said, his voice ringing with authority. "She never ate the poisonous kheer. We had it changed before it reached her." Bheem spat back with anger as he looked at the man in front of her.
"I will kill her!" He roared in anger. "You can try. We won't move from here. Go ahead." Arjun said, his voice low and sharp. Rakhaa moved forward as he pulled out the dagger, he pulled back his hand, dagger raised high. A sword came cutting through the air, making the air whistle. Just as Rakhaa brought his hand down, the sword sliced off his arm.
Rakhaa felt his body burn in pain, he opened his mouth to scream but Sahadev wrapped his hand around his mouth and pushed him in the wall. "Nakul what did you do?!" Arjun whisper yelled, "That was Panchaali's favorite carpet! She's gonna have our heads for soaking it in blood." Arjun continued to shout, pointing at the bloody carpet. Nakul raised his brow, "Oops! Sorry!" He said, not looking sorry a bit as he apologised.
Rakhaa tried to scream, as he looked around the pandavas, have they lost their mind? How could they be so carefree?! His eyes moved to his cut arm that lay on the ground feet away from him.
Yudhisthir moved through the room looking relaxed as sat next to her, he took her hand in hers as the other one ran through her long hair. He was the happiest today, they all were. Knowing that her pregnancy was her reason for getting sick earlier, made him happiest. He kissed her forehead, due to the medicine that Sahadev gave her she was under a heavy slumber.
"I think I have a similar one. Maybe we should get that one. " Bheem suggested as Rakhaa continued to cry. "Ya get that one bhraatashree." Sahadev agreed as he gagged the man so he wouldn't shout. "What do we do with this one?" Sahadev asked as he moved back, stretching his arms. "Um maybe throw him out of the window." Bheem suggested. "No! Panchaali's favorite flowers are that way, they'll get ruined. " Nakul said as he looked down at the man.
"Hmm so what to do? Prison him?" Sahadev asked, "for what? So he can break free and attack again. I don't have time to deal with this mosquito. I have so much to do. And decide fast that idiot is bleeding too much, getting that blood off would take centuries." Bheem whined as he looked at his bleeding arm. "Let's just kill him?" Arjun suggested already bored, "but it can't be bloody. " Nakul added. "What does it matter he already bled so much?" Sahadev asked confused.
"Do one thing hang him on the wall." Arjun said as he pointed on the wall, "No that's where I am planning to put the new portrait of our baby." Sahadev said as he shook his head. "Maybe burn him?" Bheem suggested. "Where?" Nakul asked. "I don't know. Why don't you suggest?" Bheem shot back. "How about drowning him?" Sahadev said. "And infest the water?" Arjun asked sarcastically. "That's there too." Bheem agreed as he nodded, he looked at the man in question who was sweating profoundly. His eyes moving between the pandavas looking at them like they had lost their mind, the pandavas wanted to laugh, at the scared face of the man, he really thought they had lost their minds.
Rakhaa spat out the gag, "are you all nuts?! How can you all be so easy and relaxed about killing me but be scared because you ruined your wife's carpet?!" He shouted. His heart was beating wildly in his chest as he looked up at them.
"You see dear assassinator people like you who have killed hundreds of innocents. Killing you is no sin and we deal with people like you everyday, but are you married?" Nakul asked, Rakhaa shook his head, "So you will never know what it's like to have one." Sahadev said, his voice soft as he looked at his wife. A soft smile on his face as he looked at her, she's soon going to have a baby, they are all going to be fathers, this was just perfect.
Rakhaa looked at the men, they were looking at their wife, this was the best moment to attack. He took the dagger that fell near his hand, he took it and ran towards her. He roared, he jumped he was right in front of her, his hand raised. Everything happened too quickly to be noticed.
Bheem took the sword next to him and threw, so did Nakul. Sahadev took the axe and threw, Arjun's arrows and Yudhisthir's spear all went flying towards him.
Bheem's and Nakul's sword cut is legs, while Sahadev's cut off his other hand, Yudhisthir's spear sliced off his head and Arjun's arrows pierced through his body and laid his body on the bed of arrows.
They all looked at each other anger marring their features, as their breathing came out in short pants. As they glared at the man in front of them, "No one dares to try and harm her, and those who do they don't survive to speak about it." Yudhisthir glared as he spat the words, he looked at him. . .
