Light - Sleeping At Last
It was one in the morning when Jeongguk got a knock on the front door, not really putting too much thought into it since he already knew who it was.
So that's why with a heavy sigh he opens the door, seeing the person who kept him steady in his head through the toughest moment he had to face today.
And it's such a relief to see him.
Ten is standing there looking down the hallway, but turns to Jeongguk with a familiar bright smile on his lips. His attire isn't anything different from what it usually is no matter what time of the day it is; a jacket with multiple different patches and pins of different colors attached to it, followed by a black t-shirt with a Guns N' Roses logo on it. He's wearing joggers this time that also had a few pins on it and his sneakers.
His once green highlights are now pink, which could be just fake for the aesthetic, nether the less making his blonde hair look really pretty.
And lastly the bold eyeliner on his eyes, making them pop out along with his smile, that still had that ring piercing to his bottom lip.
Back then Jeongguk wouldn't have found this type of look attractive for him, but with Ten he just manages to pull it off.
Everything he wears he pulls it off far too well.
Especially that oozing bad boy image.
"So," He suddenly coughs, breaking Jeongguk from his gaze, "Are you just going to continue eye fucking me or let me in?"
Oh shit right.
To push back the fact that he was flustered to be caught, Jeongguk rolls his eyes and opens the door wider to let him through.
Ten smiles sweetly and practically skips inside, snapping Lisa and Woosung, her little friend, eyes to him from the couch from the movie they were watching as he looks around the place.
"Your home is so cute! Can I crash here when I feel- OH FUCK WHO ARE YOU?!"
It all happened from one moment to the next that Ten is suddenly all on Woosung's face, squeezing his cheeks with his manicured hands and heart eyes, "You are sooooo cute! What's your name?"
The boy looks completely taken back by this action that happened so randomly, finding it hard to form words fo the pretty male yet somehow managing to stutter it out.
"W-Woosung...... But you can call me Sammy."
Ten squeals so excitedly and turns to Lisa, who's looking at this rather to amusing with a notebook in hand, "Can I keep him?"
"It's about time someone takes him," Lisa goes along with it, making Woosung glare at her, "Oh and he's a cute romantic."
Jeongguk watches from the side as Ten practically melts to the startled boy looking at him, his cheeks evidently growing pink to the attention he did not expect to receive today. Usually Jeongguk doesn't really put too much attention on him when he's here, since he's one of Lisa's closest friend and all, but now that he is actually taking a good look at him from this angle and well....
He's pretty attractive.
His attractive sense is cute, like a cute baby. His tousled mess of caramel hair over his forehead is what makes him look cute, along with the pink sweater and white jeans he has on. He's pretty big though, more than Ten, but not as big as Jeongguk. His cheekbones are what's really forced to be noticed by how squishable they are.
He's just the living embodiment of a cute and fluffy person.
The corner of Jeongguk's lips twitches upward in a gentle smile, slowly going up to them to yank Ten off the poor boy's bubble, "Sorry, he gets excited easily."
Woosung's cheeks are now bright red when Jeongguk spoke to him, not uttering a word back but he did manage to makeshift a nervous smile. Ten squeals and was about to squish his face again but Jeongguk only proceeds to drag him down the hallway instead and to his room, all the while Ten whines with a deep pout until they got inside Jeongguk's room.
From there he didn't even waste time to from throwing himself on the bed after taking off his jacket, arms sprawled out with a heavy and relaxing sigh oozing out of his lips, "Ah yes, this feels nice."
Jeongguk was about to scold him for even getting on his bed in the first place since he never lets anyone get on it, but then just leaves it be since Ten is already there. He goes around the dark room to turn the lamp on by his nightstand, but Ten instantly protests.
"You don't have to turn the light on. The window is a pretty good source of it either way," And he pats the space beside him, "Lay with me and watch the stars."
It would be too late already to question Ten's thought process because as far as Jeongguk knew, there's no stars on his ceiling, yet who is he to question such imagination that Ten has and ruin his sense of happiness?
So without another word, Jeongguk lays himself down on the bed beside him. He almost was about to hold onto him but instantly decided against it.
Can't be intimate without asking, and perhaps now wouldn't be a good time for that either.
"Wanna know what I see?"
Jeongguk puts an arm behind his head to rest against it, humming quietly under his breath in response as he stares at the way the light of the curtain from the light outside casts a shimmer of clarity against the ceiling.
There's nothing really to see.
At least for him, but of course Ten sees something more than that.
"I see an ancient snowy mountain! There's no people living there since it's too cold, but legend has it that one who goes up that mountain will be met with a ferocious ghost and gets killed for trespassing," Ten tells with such enthusiasm and wonder in his tone that even had Jeongguk visualizing this as he spoke, "In a village near the mountain, there was a boy who heard of these stories and decided to venture out and kill the ghost somehow so his people can also use the mountain as well. So one night he ventures out, dressed all in patched up warm clothes, ready to put an end to this."
Now Ten has captured all of Jeongguk's attention, who turns on his side to stare at the side of Ten's face with wide innocent eyes to what might happen next. Ten remains with his whimsical tones and exaggerated facial expressions to set the mysterious tone of the story, completely grasping all of Jeongguk's imagination to ignite.
"It was a vicious night in the mountain. Angry winds, haunting snow particles that would feel like knives clawing your skin, howling noises that could be mistaken for wolves that echoed from the mountain, yet despite that the boy didn't give up. He kept going to search for the mysterious ghost," Ten's voice is growing more and more mysterious and Jeongguk is now hugging his own body, almost feeling the coldness that he talks about with his wide eyes still on him entirely focused.
And suddenly Ten smiles, a breathless and almost relieved smile, "And then he finally saw it. Through the vicious snow and unbearable coldness, he sees the outline of the ghost before his eyes; Staring back at him with perplexed eyes as to why the boy is so cold and here during a blizzard."
Slowly Ten turns to look at Jeongguk, the corner of his lips twitching to a grin to the beautiful ravenette boy so engrossed to the story, "And guess what?"
"W-What?"
"He.... ATE HIM!"
And Ten suddenly tickles Jeongguk around his waist, who instantly shrieks in squeals, a bright smile make shifting his lips as he tries to shield himself but Ten was determined with his own amused giggles. This is the first time he's ever seen Jeongguk smile like this, or even laugh, and to say that it's the most precious thing he has ever seen would be an understatement.
At least he made him feel better.
"N-NO! Liar! I didn't end like that!"Jeongguk squeals, making Ten smile much more mischievously as he lets him go but lays on his side to stare at the way the ravenette regains his composure when he turns to his side to stare back at him, "That can't be the end."
"No it's not," Ten chuckles, his eyes shifting to the space between them, "The ghost was as malicious as they said it was, but for some reason with this boy he couldn't find it in himself to hurt him. Instead he extending his transparent hand," And Ten gently takes Jeongguk's hand, letting their palms and fingertips press against each other as though they're a mirror, "And he asked him if he thinks he's a monster?"
Jeongguk slowly flickers his eyes from their hands and to Ten's eyes, that innocent intriguing stare back filling his gaze. Ten stares between his eyes, pausing for a moment to let the feeling of his heart swell take over to the sight of such beauty. He was almost loss of words but somehow found what to say instead.
"The boy said, no because you would've killed me by now," The words sent shivers down Jeongguk's spine, especially when Ten gently moved his fingers in between Jeongguk's fingers, "The ghost then interlaces their fingers, just like this," And Ten gently slides his fingers down, interlacing their hands together that spread a spiral of warmth to spiral in Jeongguk's once cold body, "And he said, 'Sometimes it takes only one brave soul to make a monster feel warm in this cold and endless winter. Thank you'. And just like that, the ghost was freed of his endless winter, living in the boy's heart to always keep him warm."
There's no words to describe how delicate this moment feels right now, but they both felt it. It was a gentle type of delicacy that felt warm, even in the coldness of the night. It's a silence that speaks the words what Ten previously said, letting it settle in like a blanket to coat them with comfort and a sense of clarity.
Through Jeongguk's eyes at least.
This story is about to be his most favorite story that he will keep in his heart, forever.
Right now Jeongguk wanted nothing more but to close the distance and just kiss Ten for this. For the message behind the story, the way it made him feel hopeful than how he was previously before, to just feel closer to someone just like their interlaced hands.
Yet..... He didn't.
Ten said no sex or make out, and he can't pressure him either.
There's this thing about Ten that demands one to listen to him. The time when Ten wouldn't talk to him after what he did just showed that Ten is clearly in perfect charge of himself, and he always puts himself first before anyone.
That alone is scary to anyone because with just one slip up, one moment you make them doubt your intentions with them, they will go to be the shield to their soul.
Maybe that's why Jeongguk is careful because he has no control to make certain demands or do things that he assumes Ten will be okay with; One wrong move and Ten won't hesitate to leave. Jeongguk prefers not thinking that Ten just doesn't care about him, but Ten has his priorities straight and doesn't trust so easily.
That makes him powerful, and it's something one is forced to almost comply.
In some way it makes Jeongguk reflect more on his actions, how he should be like this not only with Ten but in general.
It's good practice, and the result of it came out today.
Even though it was already too late.
"So, how did you like my story?" Ten beams with a pretty smile, swinging their interlaced hands for a bit more side to side.
Jeongguk smiles, one that reaches his eyes, "Childish but I like it."
This only made Ten roll his eyes playfully, now fixing his eyes to their hands with a more longing stare and his smile softening more.
"Taehyung hates my stories," He chuckles under his breath, making Jeongguk look to his stare to his eyes, "He knows in some way I'm scolding him to behave."
Imagining the scene itself sounds pretty amusing to think about, but Jeongguk's focus was shifted to the mention of Taehyung.
"Is he.... Okay?"
Ten's smile now became a frown, the clear hesitation sparkling in them but he still kept his composure when he glanced to Jeomgguk's gaze, "He will. I hope you're not too mad with him. He can be a good person but he's just..... Misguided a lot."
"Surprisingly I'm not that upset," Jeongguk murmurs, remembering the punch from earlier, "Taehyung is..... I don't know. We feed off of the same energy. When we were together, it was almost a rotation of the three to start a fight. Taehyung was once very passive and calm, trying to keep the peace but...... I guess we ruined that for him because he just grew worse and worse and everyone always reaches a limit at one point."
Ten hums quietly to this, nodding in understanding, "The three of you was a toxic ball of energy. Being together makes you all think irrational thoughts and get blinded by it. Does that make you a bad person if someone brings out the worst in you? If that was the case then we all would be bad people. Sometimes it takes a good person to not make us feel like monsters."
Jeongguk only is left without words to stare at Ten's face, feeling his sensitive heart wobble and his eyes burn with so much emotions bubbling inside.
Never has he felt so...... Steady in his life with someone. It's like whenever Jeongguk tries to throw in how bad of a person he is, Ten yanks him back and makes him have hope again for himself.
That's all he needs, and he will strive off of that to feel...... Proud of himself.
And he will get there.
With more time, he will be the person he wants to be.
His hand suddenly began to raise up before his mind could process what he's doing, but thankfully he was quick enough to react and stop right before he touches Ten's cheek.
He stares at his hand and looks to Ten, who's not flinching or twitching a muscle, he studies Jeongguk's face with his eyes as he waits.
And so Jeongguk quietly whispers, "Can I touch you?"
Ten blinks at his question, almost smiling to how much progress the ravenette has made but also intrigued with what he wants to do. So he says a quiet 'yes' in return, letting his eyes flutter when Jeongguk gently brushed his fingertips against his cheekbones.
He just feathers his skin, letting the soft pad of his fingertips glide against the smooth contour of his skin, feeling the faint warmth and delicate strokes of each finger on his cheek before finally cupping his hand against it, letting his thumb continue to rub his skin while the rest of his fingers threads through his blonde hair.
Something about this moment felt too intimate; Maybe it's the delicate touch of Jeongguk's hand on Ten's face, or their blazing eyes staring back at one another with silent words, perhaps it's the way Ten's hand slowly raised itself to places it on the collar of Jeongguk's shirt but he pauses before touching him. Jeongguk only gives him a small nod that it was okay before Ten lets his manicure hands press against Jeongguk's chest, his fingers curling over the edge of the collar with eyes growing more and more anticipated.
Jeongguk's heart is beating so fast when he glanced to Ten's lips, over the lip ring and having this urge to tug it with his teeth. He wants to feel Ten's tongue piercing against his mouth and shiver when Ten chuckles to his desperate reaction. Sure, a far stretched imagination, but how Jeongguk would crave for a moment like that just once.
Now is a perfect time for that.
They're here, on his bed, alone, with nothing but the two of them here together right now.
They could do many, many things right now if they wanted to.
Jeongguk is gulping thickly now and he leans closer, making Ten's breath waver and shutter but Jeongguk only stares intensely at him before tilting his head up slightly more with his finger on his chin from his other hand.
"Can I kiss you?"
This is probably the least composed Jeongguk has ever seen Ten look, a mixture of nerves and anticipation whirling into a mass spiral like glistening glass over his eyes.
He does seem hesitant though but he gently nods with his teeth nibbling his bottom lips, to which Jungkook tugs his chin down so he could release it before taking his lips into his.
It was just a simple kiss like last time, sweet and quick with Jeongguk this time pulling away. He didn't want to take advantage and with this unclear ground him and Ten are, so that's why no matter how badly he wants to deepen the kiss with his fingers digging the back of Ten's head with blonde hair getting messy with his hand, he ended it before it got further.
Ten seemed to be left in a daze by that, but Jeongguk only wraps his arms around him and holds him close with his own eyes closing shut to sleep.
Meanwhile Ten tried not to smile as he hugs him back, knowing well his Kookie is not a monster in his heart.
