Chapter 2
"Where is your sister?" a blonde woman with visible creases on her forehead asked, as a woman in her early twenties turned back to face her.
"She is not my sister."
"You know who I'm talking about. Where is she?" the mid-aged woman asked again.
"I don't know, mother." she replied firmly, shifting her focus back to the book that sat on her lap.
"Valerie! I'm tired of you being glued to your science books. Go find her." she said, increasing the pitch in her voice as her temper rose.
"I was reading one of the former witch's memoir. She was passionate about science." Valerie stated as stood up, looking right into the eyes of her mother.
"And that's why she was shunned by the coven. Just go and find Gwenyth." she said as she left, leaving Valerie with the job of finding her sister.
I cannot be doing this right now, she thought as she made her way up the stairs of their rather grand manor. The furniture was only made of the finest teak wood, polished every single year. Being part of their coven looked like a dream come true. With a magnificent mansion and caretakers available at your every beck and call, who wouldn't want to be part of the family they had created?
To an outsider, the Houston's were an epitome of family. Little did they know that it was just a house filled with madmen and women.
"Valerie!" a fifteen year old exclaimed, running towards her for a bear hug.
"Gwenyth, where were you?" she asked sternly.
"I was trying to get money from that lady over there." she said, pointing at one of her caretakers.
"First of all, you should know her name by now. And secondly, you are not getting money from me." she spoke, shaking her head in utter disbelief.
"But I didn't even ask!" she said, pouting.
"Look, I really don't have time for this. My mother wants you." she said, walking away from the fifteen year old devil.
"She's my mother too," she said as she paused "if you care about that little science experiment of yours, you will hand over the money."
"Is that supposed to be a threat?" Valerie asked, clenching her fists as she tried hard not to throw herself at her.
"Mom won't be happy when she learns that you're doing science-y stuff here." she said, cocking up her eyebrows to make sure Valerie knew that she had the upper hand.
"We will discuss this later." she said, "go now."
That self-centered brat! Valerie thought as she picked up the memoir that fell off her lap, gaining no attention.
"At least she got to do what she loved." she said to herself, or rather to the brunette whose face was on the memoir, "Is getting shunned really the worst thing?"
With a lot of thoughts in her head, she made her way out of her house, walking aimlessly.
I just need someone to try it on, Valerie thought as she walked on the footpath whilst kicking stone with her every step.
She trusted her abilities more than anyone ever had. She was the type to stand up for herself even when she knew she was wrong.
I just don't want to be the guinea pig.

"How are you doing now, Cameron?" his father asked him, concern in his eyes.
"I'm fine dad, My head is just throbbing." he said, his eyes showing innocence.
"Stop being such a baby." Hayden spat from across the room, as she crossed her legs to prove that she couldn't care less about him.
"Hayden watch your mouth!" her dad exclaimed as he turned back to face Cameron.
"I can't, my eyes don't rotate enough for me to." she said, knowing that it wasn't funny.
"Listen up right now, Hayden. Even if you take him down, I will never let a female lead my pack. That's the equivalent to setting myself up for failure." he said, meaning every single word.
"I'd like to see the pack flourish with him as the representative." she said, her anger building up in her body again.
I hate not being in control, she thought, trying her best to tone down her anger.
Cameron's eyes grew wide open as he saw the same expressions on her face- anger, hate and no remorse.
"Dad-" he began, trying to warn him.
"Your ego will be your downfall." she stated with gritted teeth, kicking the door open as she stomped her way out of Cameron's room, her footsteps audible from miles away.
Am I not strong enough? she thought as she made her way onto the streets. The sun that once shone over the horizon had disappeared. There was one whole week before the next full moon, a week before the initiation.
If he wasn't going to give it to me, I'm going to have to take it, she thought, stating the obvious.
At that moment, all she wanted to do was kick the railings as hard as she could but she knew better than that. She'd been here too many times before.
Her head jerked up when she heard low growls a few inches away from her.
But it's not a full moon night, she thought with confusion as she walked towards the place she heard the growl from.
A blonde woman stood in front of her, cursing under her breath as she punched the brick wall that was to her right.
"Is there a problem?" Hayden asked, walking up to her.
"Even if there was one, why would I tell you?" the woman asked.
"Probably because I know a thing or two about little witches, as you like to refer to them." Hayden said, referring to her curses.
"I don't talk to people who can't mind their own business." she stated.
"You know punching that innocent wall will do you more harm than good, right?" Hayden stated, trying to make it seem like she was mocking her.
"And you know that just because you're the alpha's daughter, doesn't mean I can't rip your heart out and feed it to my family for them to choke and die, right?" she asked, throwing Hayden of her guard.
"What are you so startled for?" she asked, rolling her eyes.
"Fine, break your hands, make them bleed and when it hurts like hell and you regret doing that, you will remember me." Hayden said.
"We'll see about that."
