Your baby's first steps

~ Zarkon ~

As Zarkon started spending more time with Gatrea, she started bonding with him more. Zarkon was elated that his daughter finally loved him. He often let her hold his hands while he tried to teach her how to walk. She hadn't walked on her own yet, but she would be in no time. One day after lunch you and Zarkon were hanging out in the living room while sitting on the couch.

Gatrea was playing with one of her favorite stuffed toys, but when she looked up at you and Zarkon, she wanted to be held. With all the help from Zarkon, her legs were getting stronger. Gatrea put her toy to the side and stood on all fours, balancing herself. She slowly pushed up with her arms and stood upright, but stumbled a little and fell on her butt. Her sudden attempt to stand up caught you and Zarkon's attention.

"Is she trying to stand on her own?" Zarkon queried, looking down at Gatrea who wasn't affected by falling.

"I think so." You replied, looking at your daughter and seeing that she was alright.

"Come on, Gatrea, you can do it." Zarkon said encouragingly, hoping that she would come to him.

Gatrea stuck her tongue out a little as she got back on her hands and feet, pushing herself up again. She wobbled a little, but this time she didn't fall over. She hesitantly took a step forwards and didn't fall over, but on her second step, she stumbled. Gatrea stumbled the rest of the way; she would have fallen if it wasn't for you. You rushed over to your daughter right as she was going to fall face first onto the floor.

"Don't worry, I've got you. You did so good." You reassured your daughter as you picked her up, praising her for taking her first steps.

"You almost did it!" Zarkon said happily as you sat down on the couch with Gatrea.

Gatrea giggled happily as she hugged you with her little arms as best as she could. You hugged her back, giving her a quick kiss on the forehead. Zarkon was happy that his walking 'lessons' were actually helping. You both were proud of Gatrea for trying to walk; you both knew that she would be walking better in no time.

~ Alfor ~

After an intense spring cleaning Alfor somehow managed to misplace his bayard. You didn't know how he lost it, but he did. So now, you both were looking everywhere for it. You both looked in his and your bedroom, the walk in closet, all of the bathrooms and the kitchen, but it was nowhere to be seen. Alfor checked everywhere inside of Red, but it wasn't there.

You both were currently looking in the living room, hoping that it was in there somewhere. Lotarius was sitting on the floor while looking at an Altean picture book, but looking at pictures got boring after a while, so he stopped. After looking around the living room for a moment, he noticed something red, white and gray laying under the couch. He crawled over and pulled it out, smiling when he saw that it was his father's bayard. He then proceeded to use the couch to balance himself so that he could stand up, as he usually did.

His legs were strong enough to walk after walking while holding onto furniture, but walking on his own wasn't something that he was used to. You and Alfor were so busy looking for the missing bayard that neither of you saw Lotarius figure out how to walk on his own. Once Lotarius was steady on his feet and took his first steps, he picked up the bayard and wobbled over to where you and Alfor were.

"Papa." Lotarius said, trying to get his father's attention, holding the bayard in his arms.

"Not now, Lotarius, your mother is helping me look for my bayard." Alfor told Lotarius as he looked around the bookshelf.

"Momma?" Lotarius asked, trying to get your attention next since his father was so busy.

"In a moment, sweetie." You replied, not looking down as you searched through the living room cabinets.

"Bayad." Lotarius finally said, somewhat loudly so that he could get your attention.

You and Alfor turned around and looked down, surprised and shocked to see Lotarius standing. Not only that, but he was holding Alfor's missing bayard. In order to get from one side of the living room to the other, he would have had to walk.

"Did you just walk?" You asked Lotarius as you and Alfor knelt down in front of your son.

"And is that my bayard?" Alfor queried, not able to believe his eyes; his son managed to find his missing bayard.

Lotarius nodded shyly before pointing to the couch. The bayard wasn't on the couch, but you realized that it must have somehow ended up getting pushed under it, instead.

"Thank you, my little prince. You've done such a good job.walking over here with this on your own." Alfor told Lotarius as he took his bayard.

"You did so good. I'm sorry that we didn't respond sooner." You cooed as you picked Lotarius up and hugged him.

Lotarius was happy just to be picked up and held. He hugged you with his tiny arms, babbling away. Alfor left a little left out, so he put his bayard down somewhere that he could find it and joined the family hug. You both were happy that Lotarius took his first steps, but a little disappointed that you both missed it. You and Alfor were so proud of Lotarius for walking on his own that you both gave him a little extra dessert after dinner.

~ Blaytz ~

When it was you and Blaytz' wedding anniversary Blaytz wanted to surprise you somehow, but he wasn’t exactly sure how until he got an idea. He already got an anniversary gift for you and he was taking you out to dinner later, but he wanted to give you an extra surprise. As of late, Iris had been walking along the furniture, so Blaytz was secretly teaching her how to walk while you weren't around. Not surprisingly, she picked up walking fairly quickly, but she hadn't quite walked on her own yet; Blaytz had faith in her, though. So, while you were having some quiet time in the living room, Blaytz got Iris ready by putting a frilly light blue dress with white lace trim on her and put her hair up with a sparkly baby blue bow.

"Okay Iris, go to mommy." Blaytz whispered to Iris after he gave her a small F/c velvet box as they stood in the hallway.

Iris looked up at her father with big, round light gray eyes, her feelers lowering, something that she did when she was confused. Blaytz gave her a reassuring smile before she started waddling into the living room, holding onto the F/c velvet box. Blaytz peeked out from behind the wall and watched as Iris waddled over to the couch. Your nose was buried in a really good book, but you wouldn't be in a few seconds.

"Mama." Iris said once she was standing in front of you, holding the box up for you to take.

When you heard Iris' voice you thought she crawled over to the couch, but after you put a bookmark in your book and put it on the coffee table you were surprised at what you saw; Iris was standing in front of the couch all by herself while holding up a beautiful F/c box. Blaytz wasn't in the room, meaning that she walked over to you all by herself.

"Did you walk here all by yourself?" You asked Iris as you picked her up and sat her next to you on the couch.

Iris squealed with excitement as you picked her up off of the floor, dropping the box on your lap as you sat her next to you on the couch. You didn't know that Iris was walking on her own. You quietly gasped when you opened the box and saw a necklace with a F/c gem, but your favorite surprise was seeing your daughter walking. Blaytz watched the whole thing happen and decided to make himself known, dying of cuteness overload.

"I taught her how while you were having your 'me time'." Blaytz told you as he walked into the living room, sitting next to Iris on the couch.

"Awww, thanks, hot stuff; for everything. Her little outfit is so cute!" You gushed as you took in the sight of your adorable daughter.

"I'm glad that you like your surprises, all of them. I even recorded Iris taking her first steps." Blaytz said happily, looking at you with half lidded eyes.

"I can't believe that you taught her how to walk so quickly." You said, gazing into your husband's gray eyes.

"She's really smart." Blaytz commented, leaning a little closer to you.

"Yeah, she is. Anyway, I have a surprise for you, but you'll have to wait until tonight." You said as innocently as you could, but still hinting at what the surprise was.

"I can't wait. Happy anniversary, Y/n." Blaytz said huskily, leaning even closer to you.

"Happy anniversary." You told him, leaning over Iris so that you could kiss him.

Blaytz smirked as you kissed him, lightly caressing your face with one of his large hands. You felt your heart flutter when you kissed him, something that never got old. You both pulled away from the kiss when you felt Iris climb onto your lap. Blaytz helped you put the necklace on while Iris babbled as she sat on your lap. However, seeing your daughter walking to you was the best anniversary surprise ever.

~ Gyrgan ~

Since Gyrgan had gotten a baby walker for Adu he spent quite a bit of time in it, following either you and Gyrgan around. As his legs got stronger he would walk along the furniture, but he hadn't actually taken his first unassisted steps yet. However, that was about to change one evening while you and Gyrgan were baking some cookies together and Adu was playing with some magnets on the refrigerator door. Adu looked up at one of the counters after a while and his stomach grumbled; he wanted a cookie, but you and Gyrgan were busy putting cookie dough onto the cookie sheet. So, he was going to have to walk over to the counter himself.

Adu used the refrigerator to help balance himself as he slowly stood up, wobbling a little. If you and his father could walk so easily, so could he; however, turning around wasn't so easy. Adu shuffled around on his tiny feet until he was facing the counter that had the cooling rack where the cookies were, but still holding onto the fridge. Once he was standing independently, he put one foot out in front of the other, wobbling a little more but not falling over. He kept putting one foot in front of the other until he was standing in front of the counter and looking up at the delicious smelling cookies.

"O-ookie!" Adu sounded out, trying to say cookie as he tried reaching upwards.

When you and Gyrgan heard Adu try to say cookie you both turned around, expecting him to be sitting on the floor. Instead, to your surprise, Adu was standing up and trying to get a cookie. You both walked over and Gyrgan picked him up.

"Did you walk all the way to the counter?" Gyrgan asked, baby-talking to Adu.

Adu nodded with excitement before pointing to the cookies, whining a little as he reached for them. You picked up a cookie, feeling that it was cooled enough for him to eat.

"Here you go, Adu. You did such a good job." You said proudly, giving him the cookie.

"You're so sneaky, taking your first steps behind our backs. You're so sneaky!" Gyrgan said, a huge smile on his face.

Adu gave you a big smile as a thank you as he took the cookie, gnawing and chewing on it. You couldn't believe that Adu finally took his very first steps. Now that he was able to walk, he would be following you and Gyrgan around a lot more. Gyrgan held Adu steady as he ate his cookie, albeit a little messily.

~ Trigel ~

Astrid was good at walking along the furniture and whenever either you or Trigel helped her, but each time she tried walking on her own she would fall on her butt. You and Trigel came up with a plan to get her to walk all on her own, so one afternoon you both put your little plan of action into effect. You put one of Astrid's favorite toys on the couch while she was in the living room, promptly leaving when Trigel 'needed help' with something in the other room. After a few minutes, Astrid started looking everywhere for her toy, eventually seeing it on the couch. It was where she could grab it, but not without walking first.

So, while you and Trigel secretly watched from the other room, Astrid crawled over to the couch and pulled herself up. Astrid easily grabbed her toy, but when she turned around she walked all the way back to where her other toys and favorite blanket were. She was a little unsteady as she walked, but she walked without thinking about it much.

"She did it, she really did it!" You whisper-yelled with excitement, feeling a few tears of joy escape the corners of your eyes.

"This is one of the best days ever." Trigel whispered, shedding a few tears of joy of her own.

Astrid sat back down on her blanket and hugged her toy against her chest. She looked at you and Trigel as you both walked into the living room, babbling happily as she put her toy down and slowly stood back up. You and Trigel stopped walking when you both were about three feet away from your daughter, kneeling down.

"Mama! Mommy!" Astrid babbled happily as she wobbled over to both of her mothers, smiling as you and Trigel hugged her once she reached you both.

"We're so proud of you." You exclaimed as you kissed Astrid's forehead, lightly booping her nose and making her giggle.

"We knew that you could do it." Trigel said softly, but proudly.

Astrid gave you a hug, then she gave Trigel a hug. Trigel picked her up as you both stood up again. You both took Astrid to the kitchen so that you both could give her something somewhat sweet to eat. You and Trigel were so proud that Astrid finally took her first steps all by herself, but you both were also a little sad that she was growing up so quickly.
