When you two tell your child that you're pregnant

~ Zarkon ~

The day after you told Zarkon that you were pregnant, you both decided to tell Gatrea that she was going to have a younger sibling. You both wanted to tell her as soon as possible so that it would be done and over with. Zarkon was a little hesitant to tell Gatrea, but you wanted to tell her sooner rather than later. So, during lunch, you made her favorite food; a ham sandwich, which was basically only ham slices in between two slices of bread.

"Here you go; your favorite." You announced as you put the plate in front of Gatrea as she sat at the table, sitting in the chair next to hers shortly after.

"A ham sandwich! Thank you momma!" Gatrea said happily as she thanked you.

"Anything for you." Zarkon told his daughter, trying not to sound awkward as he spoke.

Gatrea opened her mouth wide and took a big bite of her sandwich. You and Zarkon looked at each other for a moment before glancing down at your daughter. Zarkon gave you a pleading look, causing you to roll your eyes.

"Gatrea, we have a surprise." You spoke up after a few short moments, keeping your voice as calm as you could.

"A surprise?" Gatrea asked with excitement, putting her sandwich back onto its plate and looking up at you.

"Yes." You calmly confirmed; there was no turning back now that you got her attention.

"What is it?" Gatrea questioned with curiosity.

"Well… You see… Gatrea, how would you feel if your papa and I were to give you a younger sibling?" You nervously asked your daughter.

"A sibling? Like a baby sister?" Gatrea queried, her tone neutral.

"Yes, or a baby brother." You said awkwardly, not wanting her to feel as though she was being replaced; no one could ever replace her.

Gatrea was taken aback a little; it wasn't that she didn't want a sibling, she knew what siblings were, but she never thought that she would ever get one. You looked at Zarkon, seeing that he looked like he was going to have a panic attack.

"If you and papa are going to give me a sibling, I want a baby sister." Gatrea said seriously, deciding that she wanted a little sister.

"We'll see what we can do." You told her, trying your best to not sound too awkward.

Gatrea cheered before she went back to eating her sandwich, happy with your answer. You silently sighed, relieved that she wasn't upset that there was going to be a new addition to the family. Zarkon looked relieved too, mostly because he wasn't the one who told Gatrea that she was going to have a younger sibling soon. You both would soon give her a bigger bedroom so that you both could use her room as a nursery again. Neither of you were expecting her to take the news so well, but you both were thankful.

~ Alfor ~

When it came time to tell Lotarius that he was going to be a big brother, you and Alfor came up with a plan; you both would show Lotarius the pictures you took of him as a baby and when he asked why you both were showing him the pictures, you both would tell him that he was going to have a younger sibling. You and Alfor were a little nervous to tell him, but it had to be done. Alfor got the photo album that had most of Lotarius' baby pictures in them while you got Lotarius to come to the living room. You felt a little emotional as you and Alfor told Lotarius the memories that went with each picture; it seemed like it was almost yesterday that he was born.

"Momma, why are you and papa showing me all these pictures?" Lotarius asked you in confusion.

"Because we have a surprise for you, but your papa and I weren't sure how to bring the subject up." You told Lotarius, taking in a deep breath.

Lotarius was even more confused now; what were you and his father trying to tell him? And what did it have to do with the surprise? You and Alfor looked at each other, and Alfor slightly nodded his head as you both came to a silent agreement.

"Lotarius, in a few short phoebs you're going to have a younger brother or sister." Alfor calmly told Lotarius, smiling slightly as he spoke.

"A younger brother or sister? How?" Lotarius queried, suddenly becoming more excited.

"Well, you see, your mother has a baby growing inside of her." Alfor answered, smiling as he looked at you.

"How did a baby get inside momma? Did she eat it?" Lotarius questioned, slightly tilting his head to one side as his ears flicked twice.

"We'll tell you when you're older. But no, I didn’t eat them." You told your son in a firm tone, not wanting him to ask any more questions.

"I'm glad that you didn't eat him or her." Lotarius said seriously, thankful that you didn't eat the baby.

You smiled, putting the photo album on the coffee table so that you could hug your son. Alfor joined in on the family hug, not wanting to be left out. You both were a little surprised that Lotarius was okay with having a baby brother or sister. You both would eventually move him into a different, larger bedroom so that his current room could be used as a nursery again since it was closer to you and Alfor's bedroom. Lotarius would love his soon to be new bedroom since it had more room for him to play around.

~ Blaytz ~

Three weeks after you found out that you were pregnant again, you and Blaytz decided to tell Iris that she was going to be a big sister. Neither of you knew how she would take the news, but she needed to know that she wasn't going to be an only child anymore. You and Blaytz made chicken nuggets for dinner that night, Iris' favorite, hoping that it would help. You were a little nervous to tell her that you were expecting a baby, and to be honest, Blaytz was a little nervous too.

"Thank you mommy!" Iris said happily when you placed the plate of chicken nuggets in front of her on the table.

"You're welcome." You told your daughter, sitting in the chair that was next to hers.

You turned your attention to your own food, thankful that it was something that made you queasy. You kept thinking of ways to tell Iris that you were pregnant, but no matter what you thought of, it made you cringe. Blaytz was worried about you when he saw how distressed you looked.

"Iris, do you know how I have a younger sister and a younger brother?" Blaytz asked Iris after a few minutes, deciding to begin the conversation.

"Yes. Are they coming for a visit?" Iris queried with excitement, wanting her aunt and uncle to visit.

"Maybe when they're not busy… Have you ever wanted to have a baby brother or a baby sister of your very own?" Blaytz cautiously asked Iris, not wanting to make her sad.

Iris' smile disappeared slightly as she thought about her father's question. She saw how much fun her father had with his younger siblings when they came to visit, but she never thought that she was ever going to have a younger sibling. You and Blaytz looked at each other, noticing how your daughter was in deep thought for a moment.

"Are you and mommy going to give me a baby brother or a baby sister?" Iris questioned her father after a couple of minutes, looking up at him.

"Yes, we are. We don't know if it's a baby boy or a baby girl yet, but you're going to have a younger sibling in a few months." Blaytz told his daughter, feeling relieved that she wasn't upset about not being an only child.

"What do you mean you don't know?" Iris asked curiously, not understanding why you and her father didn't know.

"Because we haven't been to the doctor yet." You told your daughter, finally getting up enough courage to say something.

Iris seemed happy with your answer, so she went back to eating her chicken nuggets. You let out a silent sigh of relief, thankful that she took the news well, and so was Blaytz. You both would be giving Iris a bigger bedroom down the same hallway so that her current room could be used as a nursery for the twins, which at the moment, no one knew yet. You and Blaytz were just happy to have that conversation out of the way and that Iris wasn't upset.

~ Gyrgan ~

With the way you and Gyrgan had been acting within the past month, Adu noticed and wondered what was going on. Adu waited to see what was going on, but after a while he got bored of watching and waiting. As he was waiting, you and Gyrgan knew that you both needed to tell him about his soon to be younger sibling. However, before you both could figure out a way to tell him, he decided to ask you both what was going on one day during lunch.

"Momma, dad, can I ask you a question?" Adu queried as the three of you sat at the dining room table together.

"Go ahead." You answered, not thinking much of it.

"Momma, why are you and dad acting funny?" Adu asked you curiously, looking up at you.

"What do you mean?" Gyrgan asked in curiosity, wondering if his son knew that something was going on.

"Well… Momma has been cranky and sick lately and you both whisper to each other a lot." Adu told his father, feeling a little confused.

Your heart skipped a beat before your eyes met your husband's; neither of you knew that Adu noticed the slight change in things. You both knew that now was the time to break the news to him, but neither of you knew how exactly.

"Well… Adu, your father and I have something very important to tell you. In a few months, you're going to be a big brother." You told Adu in a calm tone in hopes that he wouldn't be upset.

"You're… You're replacing me?" Adu asked you in a depressed tone as tears began welling up in his eyes.

"No, we're not replacing you. We could never replace you." You said sympathetically as you caressed your son's face, wiping away his tears.

"Your mother is right; you're our brave little prince, no matter what." Gyrgan told Adu, giving him a reassuring smile.

"Are you sure?" Adu sniffled, turning his attention to his father.

"We're both sure." Gyrgan reassured Adu, smiling down at his and your son.

Your heart broke a little when Adu asked you if you were replacing him, but you didn't want him to feel sad about being a big brother. You and Gyrgan would make a point to give your son a little extra attention so that he wouldn't feel left out, as well as a special new bedroom that was bigger than the one he already had. Adu would eventually get used to the idea of having a baby brother or sister, but it would take some time for him. For now though, you both would slowly get him used to things as they changed.

~ Trigel ~

Three and a half weeks after finding out that you were pregnant, you and Trigel decided that it was time to tell Astrid that she was going to have a younger sibling. Since her current room was the closest to you and Trigel's bedroom, it was going to be the nursery, meaning that you both would have to move Astrid to a bigger bedroom. There was another bedroom just down the hallway that was perfect for her. So, one afternoon after lunch, the two of you decided to tell her.

"Astrid, how do you feel about moving to a bigger bedroom?" Trigel asked her and your daughter as the three of you sat on one of the couches in the living room.

"I get a bigger bedroom? Really?" Astrid asked, her voice full of hope and excitement.

"Yes, if you want one." Trigel answered, smiling at her daughter's excitement.

"Yay! But why?" Astrid cheered, then questioned, becoming suspicious.

You and Trigel looked at each other, both of you already knowing that your daughter would wonder why you both were offering a bigger bedroom for her. Astrid looked up at you, then she looked up at Trigel.

"Well, because we love you, and I have a baby in my tummy." You told Astrid calmly, resting your hands on your lower abdomen.

"Why?" Astrid asked you curiously, tilting her head slightly to one side; she didn't understand why you had a baby in your tummy.

"Well, because we wanted to give you the opportunity to be the best big sister ever." Trigel answered softly, smiling down at Astrid.

"I don't know if I can be the best big sister." Astrid said shyly, feeling a little nervous about the whole situation.

"Your mommy and I are sure that you will be." You assured your daughter, giving her a reassuring smile.

"Okay. I'll try." Astrid said bravely, feeling more confident, knowing that both you and her mommy had confidence in her.

You and Trigel hugged Astrid, wanting to show her that you both still loved her; no matter what, she was always going to be your little princess. The next day, a few servants would help move all of Astrid's stuff to the larger bedroom that was just down the same hallway. Astrid liked her new bedroom because it had a lot more room and a bigger closet. You and Trigel were thankful that she at least took the news of becoming a big sister fairly well.
