Separation anxiety
~ Zarkon ~
Now that Gatrea was one year old you and Zarkon decided that it was time to hire a Dayak. You both eventually found one who wasn't so strict. Since you and Zarkon hadn't gone out alone together very often after becoming parents, he was finally taking you out to dinner at one of Daibazaal's finest restaurants. The Dayak would be taking care of Gatrea for the evening, but unfortunately when Gatrea realized that you both were going away for the evening, she suddenly got super clingy.
"Come on Gatrea, please stop crying." You pleaded as you tried putting your daughter in her playpen, only to have her grip one of your arms tightly.
Gatrea let out an angry shriek as she held onto your arm, not wanting to let go. She thought that you and Zarkon were leaving her and never coming back. In her mind, if she went with you both, the two of you would never disappear.
"Can you please help me get Gatrea off of my arm?" You asked your husband, trying your best not to accidentally drop your daughter.
"I'll try." Zarkon answered, kneeling down and reaching out towards Gatrea.
When Gatrea saw Zarkon reaching for her she hissed angrily, fat tears streaming down her face as she cried. It broke your heart to see your daughter so upset, but both you and Zarkon needed her to learn that you both weren't leaving forever. Zarkon eventually carefully pried Gatrea off of your arm and put her in the playpen that was set up near the tv stand.
"We're sorry, Gatrea. Your mother and I are just going out for a few hours. We promise that we'll be back." Zarkon assured Gatrea softly, feeling guilty for making her cry harder than before.
"Momma! Papa!" Gatrea sobbed loudly as she sat on the floor and made grabby hands as she reached up for either you or Zarkon.
"Aw, baby, we promise to come home." You told Gatrea as you knelt down a little and reached over the playpen, softly wiping her tears away.
Gatrea sniffled as you wiped her tears away, feeling a little better with the sudden soft physical contact. A minute or so later you stood back up, looking down at your daughter as she looked up at you. It made you feel even more guilty as she wiped her own tears away with her chubby little hands. You and Zarkon said one last goodbye and Dayak reassured you both that she would be alright before the two of you left. Separation anxiety was common for babies, but it didn't make you feel any better about the whole situation; you still enjoyed your evening out with your husband, though.

~ Alfor ~
One afternoon while Alfor and Lotarius were having some father-son bonding time in the Juniberry fields, Alfor got a notification on his holopad from the other Paladins. Voltron was needed, so unfortunately Alfor had to go. He brought Lotarius back to the Castle so that you could take care of him. Lotarius was confused about why his father was bringing him back inside on such a nice day.
"I'm in need of your assistance, my princess. I know that I promised you that I would spend the day with our son, but the other Paladins need me." Alfor apologized to you once he made it to the living room, sitting next to you on the couch.
"It's okay, I understand. Go save the universe, my handsome Paladin." You replied fondly, putting your phone down on the coffee table.
Lotarius was even more confused than before; he was still too young to understand where his father was going and what he was going to do, but he understood that he was leaving. He whined in displeasure when his father tried sitting him down on the couch.
"Let go of me, Lotarius, I have to go save the universe." Alfor told his son calmly, trying to pry him off of his shirt.
"P-papa." Lotarius sniffled, beginning to cry.
"Don't cry, you'll be here with your mother." Alfor reasoned, still trying to get him to let go of his shirt.
"Papa! Papa!" Lotarius weeped, not wanting to let his father go anywhere without him.
You knew that Lotarius still loved you, but you knew that he was having a bout of separation anxiety. You helped get Lotarius to let go of Alfor's shirt, doing your best to hold him back from his father.
"I'm sorry, Y/n. I promise to be back by dinner." Alfor told you as he stood up off of the couch, bending down and softly kissing you.
Your eyelids fell shut when your husband kissed you. As of late Voltron wasn't needed very often, but on rare occasions it was. You didn't mind, of course, because the other Paladins would make sure that Alfor stayed out of trouble.
"He'll calm down soon." You assured your husband when you both pulled away from the kiss.
Alfor smiled a guilty smile, feeling bad about having to leave. He made a mental note to make it up to both you and Lotarius the next day. After he left the living room, Lotarius started practically wailing, tears streaming down his face. You eventually got him to settle down enough so that you could get him to take a nap. Once Lotarius was napping on the couch, you went back to reading what you were reading on Wattpad.

~ Blaytz ~
Ever since Iris was born you and Blaytz rarely had the chance to go out and do something as a couple. You both loved your adorable daughter more than life itself, but you both really wanted to go out and do something together. Blaytz made reservations for a spa date on planet Ballzaria and asked his sister, Urlu, to babysit Iris for the day. Urlu lived on the other side of Nalquod, but she was able to arrive on time. Iris knew something was up when she saw how formally you and her father were dressed.
"Okay little cutie, be a good girl for Aunty Urlu. Your mommy and I will be back tonight." Blaytz told Iris as he held her, hoping that she would understand.
"Daddy?" Iris asked her father, tilting her head to one side slightly.
"Your daddy and I are going out for the day." You said calmly, lightly kissing her forehead.
Iris' bottom lip quivered and she sniffled when she realized that you and her father were going away. She liked Urlu, but she didn't want you and Blaytz to leave her. You and Blaytz weren't expecting what would happen next; Iris started sobbing loudly while clinging onto Blaytz' vest.
"Mama! Daddy! Don't go!" Iris keened, fat tears running down her cheeks.
"Oh, little cutie, please stop crying. Your mommy and I are coming home later; we're not leaving forever." Blaytz assured his daughter calmly, feeling a wave of guilt wash through him.
Iris wasn't listening as she wailed loudly, not wanting to let her father go. Blaytz hugged his weeping daughter and whispered comforting words to her. You felt just as guilty as Blaytz did for making her cry so hard, but you knew that it was only separation anxiety; it would go away, eventually. Blaytz had to carefully pry Iris off of his vest before handing her over to Urlu.
"Don't worry big brother, I'll take good care of her." Urlu told Blaytz, trying to assure him that everything would be alright despite having a somewhat hard time holding her.
"I know that you'll do great." Blaytz told his sister, knowing that Iris was in capable hands.
"Thank you." Urlu said, thankful for her brother's support as Iris continued sobbing while trying to reach out for either you or Blaytz.
You and Blaytz said one last farewell to Iris before leaving. Iris only wailed louder when you both left; she thought you both were leaving her forever. Urlu gently bounced Iris while reassuring her that you and Blaytz would be back later, but her niece still wasn't listening. You and Blaytz were flying to Ballzaria in Blue so that the trip to and from would be faster. You both still felt bad that she was having such bad separation anxiety, but you both enjoyed your spa day on Ballzaria.

~ Gyrgan ~
When your friends invited you out for a girls' day out, you couldn't help but say yes; you rarely got to go anywhere ever since Adu was born. Gyrgan didn't mind watching over his and your son for the day since he knew that you needed a short break from motherhood, especially since his sister was visiting for the day. Unfortunately, before you could leave the Palace, Adu wanted your attention. He didn't understand why you were getting ready to go somewhere without getting him ready too.
"Are you sure that you're going to be alright?" You asked your husband as you handed Adu to him.
"I'm positive. Besides, I'm not alone." Gyrgan assured you, taking Adu from you.
Adu sucked on one of his hands, becoming even more confused. He had a feeling that something was going on, but he didn't know what. Gyrgan had to admit that he was a little nervous about taking care of Adu without you being around, but he was thankful that his sister, who was also going to be a mother soon, was around.
"Okay Adu, behave yourself for your Papa and Aunty. I'll be back later." You told Adu, lightly kissing his forehead.
Adu gave you a curious look, wondering exactly what was going on. As soon as you grabbed your purse and started leaving the living room, he thought that you were leaving forever. In less than five seconds Adu started crying out for you, letting out a scream while tears ran down his cheeks. Gyrgan was shocked by his son's sudden outburst.
"Y/n?" Gyrgan asked you, needing a little of your motherly wisdom.
"Aww, don't cry Adu, I'm going to be home in a few hours." You told Adu, walking back over and caressing the side of his face with one of your hands.
"Momma." Adu whimpered, feeling a little better when you walked back over.
"How do I keep him from crying?" Gyrgan queried desperately, not sure how to deal with Adu's separation anxiety.
"Maybe try distracting him with something? I know that it's hard to hear him cry like that, but it'll get better with time." You offered, feeling your heart break a little, knowing that your son had separation anxiety.
"I'll try." Gyrgan told you, hoping that his sister, who was in the other room, would be able to help.
You gave your husband one last kiss and a reassuring look before you turned around and walked out of the living room. As if on cue, you heard Adu weeping and crying again. You felt bad for causing him to cry, but you knew that he would eventually stop; you were thankful that Gyrgan's sister came to help him. Gyrgan picked up one of Adu's pacifiers and offered it to him, only to get it thrown at him. After you left the Palace and met up with your friends in the village, you all had a fun day out together.

~ Trigel ~
When Trigel was summoned for an important top secret Paladin meeting on Altea you knew that you would be spending the day alone with Astrid. On the morning that Trigel had to leave Astrid was being clingy with her. You didn't mind, but you had a feeling that Astrid wasn't going to be happy when Trigel had to go. And, as expected, you were right. While you and Astrid were seeing Trigel off, Astrid started bawling her eyes out right when Trigel made a move to walk up the ramp that led to Green's helm.
"Mama don't go!" Astrid wailed as she tried to get out of your grip, reaching out towards her other mother.
"Astrid, mama has to leave. She's going to be back later." You tried telling your daughter as calmly as you could, trying to calm her down but obviously failing.
Trigel turned back around and walked over to where you were standing while holding Astrid. She felt bad for making her and your daughter so upset. Astrid calmed down a little when she saw Trigel coming back, but she still had tears streaming down her face.
"Don't worry Astrid, I promise that I'll be back later." Trigel told Astrid softly, trying to calm her down.
"Mama." Astrid sniffled; she was afraid that her other mother was going away for a really long time again.
"Be a good girl for your mom, okay? I'll tuck you into bed tonight." Trigel offered in a gentle tone.
Astrid nodded her head, not quite understanding why her mama had to leave, but if she promised to be back in time for bed, then that was good enough. Trigel placed a light kiss on Astrid's forehead before deeply kissing you. After Trigel walked into Green's helm you went somewhere safe so that she could take off. Astrid was still crying, sad that Trigel wasn't home for the day, but you knew that by evening everything would be back to normal.
