First family pet
~ Zarkon ~
During a family vacation on Altea, Gatrea found a stray kitten while she was in the juniberry fields. The kitten was skinny and her right front paw was injured; she refused to just leave the kitten where she found her. With the help of Alfor and Coran, the kitten's right front paw was quickly healed. The kitten's body was all white, but the tip of her tail was orange and so was her left ear. Gatrea knew how afraid of cats her father was, but she really wanted to keep the kitten.
The family vacation lasted for a week and a half, so during that time Alfor subtly brought cat food and toys to the room Gatrea was staying in. When it was time to go home, Gatrea managed to keep the kitten hidden until she was able to take her to her bedroom. She decided to name the kitten Melody since her meow was melodic. Unfortunately, one morning when you went to go wake your oldest daughter up, you saw a little white and orange kitten curled up on the foot of her bed. You didn't know how she smuggled a kitten into the palace, but you were going to find out.
"Gatrea, wake up." You whispered as you sat on the edge of your daughter's bed, waking the kitten up before Gatrea.
When Melody saw you, she meowed and walked over to you, rubbing herself against your body. You smiled as you lightly petted her, immediately falling in love; she was just so cute. As Gatrea woke up, she remembered that you didn't know about Melody until now; she saw you petting Melody when she sat up.
"Gatrea, I think that you better explain what a kitten's doing here." You firmly told your daughter, still petting the adorable kitten who loved the attention you were giving her.
"I'm sorry mom, I couldn't leave her. I found her in the juniberry fields on Altea. Her right front paw was injured, but Alfor and Coran helped her heal. I decided to name her Melody. Please, don't make me get rid of her." Gatrea explained, pleading for you not to make her get rid of Melody.
"I won't make you get rid of her, but your father needs to know that there's a kitten living here now. I just hope that he doesn't freak out." You answered humorously, remembering when Zarkon freaked out because he saw a kitten before the two of you started dating.
"Oh, thank you mom!" Gatrea replied happily, leaning over and giving you a quick hug despite the awkward position.
You smiled, happy that your daughter was so kind to animals. Since Melody was on your lap, you had to carefully pick her up and put her back on the bed. You stood up and left Gatrea's bedroom after a moment, closing the door and giving her privacy. Gatrea was scared that her father would make her get rid of Melody because he hated cats. However, she couldn't hide Melody forever; she quickly got dressed and picked Melody up before slowly walking to the living room.
Melody hadn't been out and around the palace, so she made sure not to accidentally drop said kitten. When Gatrea arrived at her destination, she saw that you were talking to Zarkon while her sisters all sat in a row on one of the other couches. Melody could tell that Gatrea was nervous about something, so she stayed quiet. As soon as her father closed his eyes, Gatrea took a deep breath, walked into the living room and sat in between you and Zarkon.
"Okay, you can open your eyes, but don't panic." You calmly told your husband, hoping that he wouldn't freak out.
"Y/n, I don't panic very often, especially if you have a surprise for-." Zarkon said as he opened his eyes and looked down at Gatrea, going quiet as soon as his gaze fell on Melody; his and your oldest daughter was holding a kitten.
"Before you say anything, her name is Melody and I saved her life. Please papa, don't make me get rid of her." Gatrea quietly begged her father, feeling as though she was going to cry.
Zara, Zia, Krella, Kuhuv and Angela all looked at Melody, but stayed quiet until a final decision was made. Right as Zarkon was going to say something, Melody jumped onto his lap and started purring as loudly as she could, rubbing her head against his midsection. Zarkon's first instinct was to panic, but the way Melody was purring and rubbing herself against him was just too cute; it was then that he had a change of heart about cats and kittens.
"Fine, we can keep her." Zarkon spoke softly as he smiled down at Gatrea while gently petting Melody.
"Thank you so much, papa!" Gatrea responded happily, giving her father a hug; she was so happy that Melody was going to stay.
With the approval of your husband, you were overjoyed and shocked that he said yes to keeping Melody. All of your other daughters crowded around their father so that they could finally meet Melody. Melody loved all of the attention she was receiving, purring as she was pet by so many people. You and Zarkon had discussed getting a family pet, but neither of you could come to an agreement of what kind of pet to get. Since Melody joined the family, that discussion would no longer be relevant.

~ Alfor ~
Ever since Lotarius. Fallara and Alazu started asking you and Alfor if they could have pets, you and your husband started discussing it later that evening after all of your kids went to bed. Your three older kids were responsible enough for a pet, but there were so many options that they couldn't agree on what kind of pet to get. So, after talking about it for a few days, you both decided to surprise your kids with two Altean cats. The animal shelter on Altea was usually pretty empty since pets were rarely abandoned, unlike on Earth. Your older kids were all at school and Asher was with his nanny, giving you and Alfor the chance to buy cat supplies and adopt the only two cats that were at the shelter.
Ash was a light gray female who had light pink ears and one light pink paw while Nova, who was also female, was all black with dark blue stripes on her tail. They were both affectionate and playful, making them perfect family pets. Both cats were a little shy when you and Alfor brought them home, so you both put them in one of the spare rooms after putting a litter box, toys, food, water and a scratching post in their temporary room. When it was time to pick your kids up from school, you both decided to tell them about the two cats; Asher was being pushed in his stroller by your husband.
"Lotarius, Fallara, Alazu, your father and I have a surprise." You announced as the five of you walked home while you helped your husband push the stroller.
"Are you going to have another baby?" Alazu queried with excitement, wanting a baby sister; she loved Asher, but she couldn't dress him up in cute dresses and bows.
"What? No! We have family pets." You said defensively before telling your kids about the new family pets.
"We do? What are their names? What kind of pet did you get? Are they boys or girls?" Fallara questioned with excitement, asking as many questions as she could.
"Their names are Nova and Ash, they're cats and they're both girls." You answered, smiling as you spoke; you were happy that you and your family had such cute cats now.
"Are they both friendly?" Lotarius calmly asked you; he was excited to have cats, but he was better at not asking as many questions as his younger sister did.
"Yes, they're both friendly. However, it will take them a few phoebs to get used to their new home." Alfor added, knowing that it took cats a while to get used to their new home.
All of your kids were excited to meet the cats, but they promised you that they wouldn't frighten them. Since Asher was only two, he would require supervision when he interacted with Ash and Nova. As soon as you and your family returned home, took your shoes off and Alfor took Asher out of his stroller, you and your husband led them to where the two cats were living for the time being.
"Awww, they're so cute!" Fallara said quietly as soon as her gaze landed on the two cats who were sitting on different platforms on their scratching post.
"Here kitty kitty." Lotarius calmly called out to the two cats, sitting on the floor.
Nova and Ash didn't know what to think of your children at first, but Ash was the first to greet them by jumping onto the floor and cautiously walking over to your older son. Lotarius was quiet as he held one of his hands out, allowing Ash to sniff it before he started petting her. Fallara and Alazu sat on the floor as well so that they could meet Ash. You and Alfor sat on the floor next, and Alfor put Asher down so that he could meet the cats.
"Kitty." Asher whispered happily when Ash came to greet him; she didn't purr, but she didn't run away, either.
Nova saw what was going on and decided to finally greet your children, walking over to Fallara first who let the shy cat sniff her hand. Nova began purring loudly as soon as she let your older daughter pet her, making you and your husband smile. Ash greeted Alazu next, finally purring as her chin was lightly rubbed. It wasn't long before Nova and Ash were walking around you and your family, enjoying all the attention they were receiving. You and Alfor were happy that your kids liked the cats and the cats liked you, your husband and your kids.

~ Blaytz ~
When your kids recently asked you and your husband if they could have a pet, you and Blaytz told them that you both would think about it. Normally when parents say that they'll think about something, it's a definite no, but you and Blaytz were actually going to think about it. Your three oldest children were definitely responsible enough and your two younger children, excluding Pavo who was only three years old, were learning how to be responsible. There were so many options across the universe, but it was an extremely hard decision since there were too many options. You obviously wanted a pet from Earth, but you were fine if it came from somewhere else.
During the week you and your husband were discussing getting a family pet, Blaytz was once again needed to form Voltron somewhere far away. During his journey, Blaytz might have found, or rather rescued, the perfect family pet; a white and blue cosmic wolf puppy who was no older than four weeks that he found in an abandoned building. He contacted you as soon as he could and told you about the wolf pup, but you decided not to tell your children what kind of pet he found until your husband came home. While your kids were at school or with their nanny, you went out and started getting everything a puppy would need to survive. Obviously cosmic wolves weren't like dogs from Earth, but they were able to communicate telepathically.
"When's dada coming home, mommy?" Pavo asked you curiously on the afternoon Blaytz was coming home.
"Yeah, when's he coming home? And what kind of pet is it, mom?" Iris questioned with curiosity, barely able to contain her excitement.
"You'll all find out when he comes home." You told your excited children, even though you couldn't wait to actually see the cosmic wolf puppy with your own eyes.
Your other children huffed and sighed, not wanting to keep waiting for what seemed like forever. Finally, when Blue finally landed near the palace, you and your children went outside to meet up with your husband and their father. After Blue lowered her head and opened her mouth, Blaytz came walking out while cradling a white and blue bundle against his chest. The cosmic wolf pup was awake, looking around at her new surroundings.
"Here she is. Everyone, meet Itia; she's a four week old cosmic wolf puppy." Blaytz said in a soft tone as he knelt down, watching as you and your children slowly approached him.
"Oh, Blaytz, she's beautiful." You spoke quietly, smiling wildly as you looked at Itia; she was so cute and fluffy.
"Awww, she's so cute!" Iris whispered as she reached out and pet Itia.
"She's so little." Blaze whispered in awe, looking directly at the tiny puppy in his father's arms.
"I love her already." Brisa spoke in a quiet tone, not wanting to startle Itia.
Itia was extremely shy, but she liked Iris and gave her hand an affectionate lick. Each of your children got the chance to pet Itia, but they were all very careful, even Pavo who had never seen such a small animal up close before. After a few moments, Blaytz stood up and led you and your children inside the palace. Since your husband was finally home, you went to get all of the puppy supplies out of your walk-in closet. You made a bottle of puppy formula and brought it to the living room where your family was.
"Here, you can feed her." Blaytz told you after you sat down next to him, handing Itia to you.
You took Itia and held her in the correct position that you read about online. All of your children watched in awe as you fed Itia with the puppy bottle, all of them in love with the new family pet. Since Itia wasn't house trained, she would have to stay in one of the bathrooms at night until she was; you bought a life sized plush wolf while you were buying puppy supplies, that way she could cuddle up to something at night. In the meantime, you, Blaytz and your kids were happy to finally have a family pet, even though she was an unexpected surprise.

~ Gyrgan ~
During a recent trip to the Space Mall, you and Gyrgan stopped by the Earth store since there was a sale going on. You were able to purchase your ultimate favorite snack and a few movies that had your favorite actors and actresses in them, as well as some clothes that were from your favorite clothing store on Earth. And, with all the purchases, you and Gyrgan received a free 'kaltenecker'. Only this time, you both received two since this cow had recently given birth to an adorable calf. You weren't expecting to get a cow and a calf, but they were both so cute.
On the way home, Gyrgan put the cow and her calf in Yellow's cargo hold where they would be safe. Your groceries and other items were in the back of the cockpit so that they wouldn't get chewed on. Your kids were at home on Rygnirath, at school while you and your husband went on a shopping trip together. As much as you both loved your kids, you and Gyrgan still loved going out alone together. After checking on the cow and her calf, Gyrgan finally decided to bring their fate up.
"Y/n, do you remember how our kids keep asking for a pet?" Gyrgan queried, deciding that bringing up the subject of pets was the best way to start the conversation.
"How can I forget? They keep bringing it up." You replied, smiling fondly and rolling your eyes.
"Since they can't agree on what kind of pet they want, we should keep the cow and her calf as pets." Gyrgan suggested, knowing that you would agree.
"I- You know, that's actually not a bad idea. Cows live a long time and they're fairly easy to take care of, but we're going to need to figure out how to grow a pasture. Rygnirath isn't really grass friendly." You said, agreeing with your husband about having cows as pets before reminding him that they needed a pasture.
"I'll have Alfor help with that; Altean technology is a little more advanced than it is on Rygnirath." Gyrgan told you after thinking for a brief moment; you were right, cows needed a pasture to live in.
You smiled, knowing that your kids would be happy to finally have some kind of pets. You were too, especially since the calf was super cute and she was really friendly. The cow was a little more cautious, but she was friendly once she got to trust someone. Once you and Gyrgan got home, you had the servants put the groceries and other things away while you and your husband led the cow and her calf to the stables and put them in an empty stall. You gave them water and Gyrgan fed them something similar to hay.
By the time you both were finished getting the cows settled in, it was time to pick your kids up from school. On the way home, you and Gyrgan listened to your kids as they told you both about what they did in school that day. As soon as you told them that you and their father got two family pets earlier, they couldn't wait to see what kind of pets they were. Adu, being the calmest of your kids, wasn't as energetic as his younger siblings. As soon as you all got home, you and Gyrgan led your three kids to the stall where the cows were.
"Kalteneckers! You got kalteneckers!" Gavin said with excitement when he saw the cow and her calf, trying to keep his voice down.
"Gavin, those are just spotted buffalo." Gemma told her younger brother, guessing wrong; neither of them had ever seen a real cow before.
"You're both wrong. Those are dairy cows; they come from mom's planet." Adu corrected his younger brother and sister, smiling as the cow and her calf looked at them.
"What are their names, mom?" Gemma asked you with curiosity, unable to tear her gaze away from the cows.
"The mother's name is Dolly and her calf's name is Oreo." You told your kids, smiling as you looked at the two cows; you and your husband named them on the way home.
Adu was the first to step forward, holding one of his hands out as he cautiously walked towards Dolly. Dolly sniffed Adu's hand once he was close enough, allowing him to pet her. When Gemma and Gavin saw their older brother petting Dolly, they slowly walked towards her and got to pet her. Oreo hid behind her mom, unsure of what to think of the three children who were petting her mom. You and Gyrgan smiled happily, thankful that your kids liked your new family pets and that Dolly liked your kids; Oreo would eventually get used to receiving attention, too.

~ Trigel ~
Since you and Trigel were starting to get restless due to always being around home, you both decided to take your kids for a day out somewhere in the Dalterion Belt. You and your wife packed a picnic lunch and you packed up some supplies for Harlow since she was in the beginning stages of being toilet trained. All four of your kids could hardly wait to finally have a day out somewhere in the Dalterion Belt, especially since it was early summer and they would get to ride in Green. Since the journey wasn't very far, Harlow was able to sit on her mother's lap. All of your kids loved riding in the Green Lion and hearing about Trigel's adventures as a Paladin of Voltron.
Voltron wasn't really needed very often, but occasionally someone in the universe needed the help only Voltron could provide. Once Trigel landed Green on a planet within the Dalterion Belt and Green lowered her head, you grabbed the picnic basket and followed your family and exited your wife's Lion with them. While you and your family were happily talking to each other and eating, Astrid's ears twitched when she heard a rustling sound coming from behind a bush; there were lots of different kinds of animals in the Dalterion Belt, so she figured that it was just an animal. She was about to turn her attention back to eating when she got a feeling that she needed to go see if the animal was okay. Astrid placed her cookie on a plate and stood up, her ears twitching again.
"Astrid, what's wrong?" Trigel asked her and your daughter with curiosity, wondering why she suddenly stood up.
"Are you feeling alright?" You queried, hoping that your daughter was feeling alright; she obviously wasn't sick, so you dismissed that thought.
"I thought that I heard something rustling around in the bushes and I want to see what it is." Astrid answered as she looked at you and her mother before proceeding to walk in the direction of the rustling.
You and your wife watched as Astrid walked over to where the animal was, both of you a little worried about what she was going to find. Taj, Veldar and Harlow were more curious about what their older sister was going to find rather than being concerned. Astrid carefully walked towards the bushes, not wanting to scare the animal away. When she found the right bush, she peered over it and saw a baby yalmor; it looked skinny, meaning that it hadn't eaten in a few days. The baby yalmor made a panicked sound when it saw her looking at it.
"Shhhh, you're okay. I'm not going to hurt you." Astrid whispered as she reached for the yalmor and carefully picked it up; she held it up and checked to see what gender it was the old fashioned way, seeing that it was a boy.
You and Trigel were more concerned when you both watched Astrid bend down and pick something small up. When your daughter held the animal up a little, the two of you saw that it was a baby yalmor. By the time Astrid returned to the picnic blanket and sat down, the yalmor had fallen asleep in her arms. Veldar, Taj and Harlow's eyes widened when they saw that their older sister was holding a baby yalmor.
"I think that this baby yalmor's mother abandoned it for some reason. Can we keep him, please?" Astrid asked you and Trigel with desperation, not wanting to leave the baby yalmor behind; he would die if he was left alone.
"Astrid, this yalmor belongs here." You spoke up while looking at your wife, silently asking her for help.
"This yalmor belongs here, but he'll die if he stays here. Yes, we can keep him." Trigel answered her and your oldest daughter's request, glancing at you and giving you a reassuring smile.
Astrid's smile grew tenfold, feeling extremely happy that she was going to get to keep the baby yalmor. She and her brothers had wanted a pet for so long, but you and Trigel weren't sure what kind of pet to get. Astrid and Veldar were very responsible and Taj was learning how to be responsible, too. Harlow was only two years old, but she would learn how to be responsible, too. After a long discussion, you, Trigel and your three older children agree to name the yalmor Snoots, all of you agreeing that it was a cute name.
