   CHAPTER 40 - Saving Jade

I was sitting in my room, with millions of things going on in my head. 

First, one about Ryan, of course. I am still thinking about him and his friend Richie. Why would someone throw him off the cliff? After listening to Ryan's words, he seemed like a great guy, then why would anyone do that?

Ryan is really strong. He watched his friend getting killed in front of him but he is still holding the pain and sorrow within him. 

Ahh, I can't stop thinking about his handsome face, cocky but caring nature and let's not get to my pervert part by talking about his heavenly body.

Second, about Aiden and his sweet words. I mean, yeas, it's very important to talk to a girl politely but he is a way to sweet. He's dating my sister and still calling me 'beautiful'? That's what he should be calling to Sage, not me. It's just not correct. I am starting to creep out by his overly nice behaviour with me. I've never seen him talking to someone so sweetly except of me. It's just...weird.

Third, about my sister. I feel bad for her that her boyfriend is talking to me like that. She deserves the best.

Fourth, about Shaggy. I don't know why but I've been thinking a lot about him lately. It's like he is around me, protecting me and caring for me. I know..weird.

So, not even a week is left for the Christmas holidays to end but it's still very cold outside. I don't want to go to school. The weather's not well as well. It's always snowing.

I sighed and walked out of my room when I decided to go to Sage's room. I knocked and she opened the door smiling. 

My love sick bird!

"Hey Sage. Can I come in?" I asked.

"Yeah, sure." she agrred and gave in the space to get in.

"So, how's it going between you and Aiden?" I teased.

She sat on the bed, her face looked a little different. Not that happy one.

"It's good." she stammered.

Oh, everything's not good.

"What's wrong?" I asked, sitting beside her.

"Nothing." she smiled.

"Something is wrong Sage. You're not the same 'I am so happy I am in love' mood." I stated. I know my sister very well. 

She sighed and then smiled at me,"Who can win from you?"

I interrupted in between and said,"No one."

She chuckled and replied,"It's just a little different."

"What's different?" I asked.

"Our relationship. I've really never got that satisfying feeling. You know, when you date someone, you start to feel that spark in your stomach, your heart melts when you see that special someone but with Aiden, I never really felt it. I tried but it's just not happening. I mean, I love him but I am starting to think that he doesn't and I guess that's the reason why I don't feel those things. When your partner is not in love with you, then how can you experience that?" she explained. But why is she feeling that?

"Why Sage? I eman, why do you think Aiden don't love you? You guys look happy together?" I said. I wanted to hug her.

"I don't know. It's just like..he's forcing it all. The whole relationship. Like he doesn't even want this to happen." she answered, I could sense the pain in her voice. Of coourse, it's her first love, she's ought to get sad.

I enveloped her in a tight hug and said,"Everything's gonna be alright Sage. If not Aiden, you'll find someone who will treat you right and will love you like a puppy."

She pulled back immediatly and chuckled,"Puppy?"

"Yeah, because everyone loves puppies a lot. They're just too adorable and lovable. You can't hate them." I stated which caused Sage to laugh. Finally, she's happy again.

"You're so silly Jady." she said, chuckling.

"If that brings smile on my freak's face, then I am happy to be silly." I said proudly.

"You're too adorable Jady. Maybe that's why Ryan loves you that much." her words really shocked me. Why do we have to bring that sexy jerk in every conversation?

"That's it." I said and left the room. I heard Sage chuckling at my act and then shouted,"You can't deny it Bozohead that you love him as well." 

Ahh, shut up!

Conscience : But that's true right?

Me : Like I am going to tell her that.

I was passing the gym when I heard a familiar voice,"Hey Jade."

I turned in the direction of the source of the voice and saw Ashton and Drew sitting on the bench, looking all sweaty. Oh, yeah, it's the gym.

'Hey guys." I chirped and ran to them when I felt a little pain in my chest. 

"What are you doing here?" Drew asked, smiling.

"Just taking a little walk. What about you guys?" I asked politely.

"Gym." Ashton replied, smiling. Wow, he's talking to me without any witty comment and smiling??? That's somthing new, eh?

"Hey, by the way, thanks for your help." Drew said. Huh?

"What help?" I asked curiously.

"Your help in the police station that day. It was so nice of you." Drew smiled.

"It's nothing. He did it for me." I answered.

"Aw, you too really are amazing together. I still wonder how you two didn't get together before. You guys were friends in your child-" before he Drew could finish, Ashton punched him on the arm, like giving him a sign to stop. 

But why?

"Ouch man. What was that for?" Drew asked, rubbing his arm.

"Jeez, you're such a girl Drew." Ashton commented.

"Hey, what's bad in being a girl?" I asked.

Ashton chuckled and said,"Sorry. I'll just come in a minute." 

He kept his phone and wallet on his gym bag and went inside the gym.

Drew grinned at me and then suddenly chirped,"Hey, want to see the pictures of your birthday?"

"Yeah, sure." I agreed. I haven't seen a single picture. And yeah, they came there as well. I called them personally.

Drew nodded and grabbed Ashton's phone and begin searching for pictures,"Here."

He showed the pictures of drunk, dancing people. We laughed our hearts out at them. They were really funny to see.

"That's it." Drew informed between his laughs.

I nodded but when he closed the pictures folder and the wallpaper came on, I was shocked.

Is that him?

But how?

"Hey, can you show that to me?" I stammered, asking for Ashton's phone.

"Yeah, sure." Drew said and handed me the phone.

I touched the screen and the lights cam eon, showing Ashton's wallpaper. There were two young boys, arounf seven or six, standing in a park. One of them had his arm around another one's shoulder and both of them were smiling their hearts out. It seemed like they are best friends. But you know why I was shocked to see it..

Because that boy was Shaggy.

"Cute right? These guys are friends from their diaper days. I wish I too had a childhood friendship like them." Drew said.

"Who's this?" I asked, pointing at Shaggy's picture.

"That's Ryan and that is Ashton."

Ryan??

How can he be Shaggy? He never told me that.

How?

I came home, still thinking about that picture. 

Every question was getting it's answer.

I felt different around Ryan because he's Shaggy. I know it. That's the reason.

Everyone who's related to him tells me smoething that shows that they know me from a long time. Now I know why.

But why didn't I notice this before? How couldn't I recognise Shaggy? How could I do this? And why didn't Ryan told me that before? 

Do he remember me as Lavender?

God, how can I be so stupid?

I was running to my room when I felt deep pain in my chest and left out of breath. 

No, no, no, no! This can't happen right now.

I struggled to my room but it was getting difficult for me to keep the pain. 

I am running out of breath. I searched for my pump but because of the unstable steps and dizzy feeling, I was unable to.

"Sage?" I shouted but no response came. Maybe she's not home.

That means I am alone here? All the servants are gone home, dad and Sage's not here that means I am alone.

God help me, please.

The news headline from tomorrow flashed through my head...

'Famous author Sarah Arthur died due to asthma'

Noo, this can't happen to me. It just can't.

'She was found dead on her bedroom floor.'

No, someone please help me..

'She panicked when she went out of breath and lost her control.'

Stay composed Jade. That can't happended to you as well. Stay composed.

Don't panic.

Don't panic, everything will be alright.

I fell on the ground and closed my eyes. Try to stay in control. If you panic, you'll be in big pain Jade.

I was losing hope by every second. But I can't, it just can't happen to me so soon.

I just discovered about Shaggy, I want to talk about it to Ryan. I want to see dad, mom and Sage again. I can't get out of control.

It just can't.

Please God!!

I pressed my eyes together, wishing that breath gets stable again when I felt my door being opened with a bump.

I turned my head in that direction and saw a very worried looking Ryan.

What? Why is he here?

He ran to me and sat down his knees,"Hey Jade, are you okay?"

"Where's your pump?" he asked.

I pointed at the direction on my drawer and he nodded and begin searching for it.

"Don't worry Jade. You'll be fine again." he said, while searching for the pump.

I didn't say anything because of the shortage of breath.

Stay composed Jade. He'll find the pump then you'll be alright.

I looked at him and saw his worry grew even more. He ran his fingers through his hair, biting his lips like he's trying to think of something.

"Let's go to the medical store." he said suddenly and pulled me up in bridal style and carried me to his car.

He locked the door for me and rushed to the driver's seat. I could clearly see the worry in his eyes but he was trying his best to hide it. 

"Everything will be alright Cupcake. We'll get your pump from the store." he consoled. 

That means he didn't find my pump.

He was driving as fast as he could and checking on me every second. He touched my ehad while I was breathing heavily.

"Damn, this is taking too long." he complained, hitting the steering wheel.

He thought for a second and then turned to me asked,"Will a mouth to mouth work?"

I shook my head in a 'I don't know' manner when I suddenly felt his lips on mine.

He was leaning forward on my seat, his hand was on my lap and another one was caring my cheek. He breath out in my mouth and I could feel his warm breath.

His lips were so soft and warm against mine and I loved the feeling, though I was having a asthma attack. The fire crackers were exploding in my stomach. 

Though it's not a kiss but I am still in love with this feeling.

He continued to do this mouth to mouth activity and believe me, it was really effective. My breathing was getting a lot better.

I closed my eyes and wrapped my arms around his neck and tangled my fingers with his soft hair. This closeness is making me crazy.

He breath out in my mouth and then I felt his tongue touch my lower lip and then his lips touched my lips fully. It wasn't the part of giving me a mouth to mouth, he just KISSED ME.

He pulled away shyly and kept his forehead against mine and smiled.

I can't belive HE kissed me. It definetely was a kiss. He pecked my lips.

"Still need a pump?" he asked.

I nodded which caused him to chuckle.

"Let's go then. AT least you're better now." he stated, smiling at me and starting the car.

But the thought that he kissed me wasn't out of my head.

I wanted to ask him why he did that (not that I am complaining) but I stopped myself. He saved my life, I am not going to ask him such a stupid question.

He kissed me!

I didn't, HE KISSED ME!

I nodded smiling, when I realized..

He just lost the bet!

He kissed her!! Yay! And Ryan lost the bet!!!!
