CHAPTER 11 : It's raining cats and dogs, or maybe jerks too.
It's a beautiful day and I can't stop myself from smiling
If we're drinking, then I'm buying
And I know there's no denying
I sang along the song as I went for an evening run. My watch exhibited that it was almost seven o'clock, reminding me that I had to return home before eight, as I told dad I would.
Dr Brown always prescribed me to engross myself into middle of the road exercises, which would be beneficial for my breathing rate. So, obeying to his words, I went out for a short run around my locality.
Dressed up in comfortable clothes, I felt complacent of myself.
So, after the incident of leaving Sage and Ryan hanging on by themselves, I ran to Blair's house. Jess was also present there. I spilled out all the beans about how my idea worked and how faulty I felt to place them in such a situation.
I would never want my sister to be stuck in a moment with a boy she didn't even know well. But I was well aware of the fact that Ryan was one of those guys who would never even conceive the thought of harming a girl in any manner.
No matter how pissed on he must've been with me, I bet he wouldn't have left my sister alone at the theater.
When I returned back home that evening, Sage was fluming with anger. I could even imagine smoke coming out of her nostrils and ears at that moment.
But fortunately, I came up with a trillion excuses and somehow managed to escape from that situation. I knew that she didn't buy what I was trying to sell her, but she didn't threw any more questions at me after that.
At school, I tried my best to avoid Ryan. And with a super power of avoiding someone, I drove the day without a single encounter with Ryan.
As I came across a gymnasium nearby, I decided to enter inside and grab a quick liquid refreshment. After a few wrong turns, I finally found a vending machine.
I chose an orange juice and marched outside. As I stepped into the fresh air outside the gymnasium, a splash of a water came pouring over me.
I shrank my shoulder together and my head came a little deeper into my neck as the water came in contact with my body.
I lifted my head to see who that blockhead was, and found Ryan laughing like a maniac at my condition.
"What was that for, you jerk?" I screamed at the stupid laughing continuously. He stood at the ceiling of the gymnasium with a bucket in his hands, leaning towards the railing to get a better view of me to see and enjoy the outcome of his action.
"Oh, so now my princess swears too. What was wrong in my upbringing?" Ryan said mockingly in a motherly's tone, with no sign of an end to his laughter.
"Your princess can beat the shit out of you too, mother." I shouted, still shivering like a homeless person.
"Now she fights as well. Look, Jade's father, our daughter has become such a spoiled brat." And here comes the motherly tone again.
"Now shut up and tell me why you did so or I'll come upstairs and push you off the roof."
"Calm your horses, Tuna. You asked for it" he announced , shrugging his shoulders at my question.
"What did I even do?" I screamed, then adding to my words when I heard his nickname for me again,"And put an end to your senseless nicknames."
I didn't even like Tuna!
"Aw, but I like the Tuna nickname. Never mind, let's call you Jellyfish from now." Ryan exclaimed cheerfully. What is wrong with this idiot?
"Fine, I am coming to push you off the roof now."
"Wait, you want to know why I did this? This is your reward for leaving me with your sister alone."
I knew that he wasn't going to spare me away from it. I was well aware of the fact he could jump in my track anytime and do something unexpected. But I didn't expect him to do something like that; in front of a gym, by pouring a bucket full of water over me during an October evening. Great.
"I was just trying to give you kids some alone time to get to know each other." I replied innocently.
"Kids? We both are older than you. And that was a terrible move, Jade."
"No, it wasn't. It was effective."
"What makes you think that it was effective in any ways, Jade? I dropped Sage home right after you bailed on us. You deserved what you got, Jade." He said and disappeared.
"Hey. Come back here, you moron." I screamed as I stomped by feet on the ground.
A few people stopped to stare at me. Of course, I was shouting at the empty roof.
"Um, hello! I hope you have a healthy day at the gym. Go burn down some calories" I said awkwardly to the 'staring people' and ran home.
I reached home with my drenched clothes and damp hair, shaking like Popples, Blair's little kitten.
"Is it raining outside?" Marie asked with curiosity as she ran to me with a towel in her hands.
"Yeah, it's raining cats and dogs, and maybe jerks too." I exclaimed angrily as my teeth chattered together due to the coldness and discomfort of the clothes sticking to my body.

"Hey, Beautiful." A voice whispered from behind while I stood in a line at the cafeteria.
I turned around my head and came face to face with Aiden. Such a long time.
"Hi, Aiden. How are you?" I asked while stepping forward toward the food counter again.
"I am great. How about you?"
"Same here. Anyways, where have you been lately? I haven't seen you in ages." I stated. It had been a long time since I saw that gorgeous face of his.
"I was right here, Jade, but you were too busy with that bastard." Aiden muttered. From the corner of my eyes, I could sense anger fluming from his ears. With the way his jaw clenched, I instantly knew who he was referring to.
"You are spending too much time with him, Jade. He's a living invitation to danger."
"It isn't like that, Aiden. I used to have the same perception of Ryan earlier just like you, but as I got to know him better, I discovered a brand new side of him. He isn't a bad person."
He groaned at my words, probably being pissed off by my sudden support to Ryan.
"Leave it. Ryan will be the last topic to talk about when I am with you. We can talk about many other things. Like how beautiful you look today." Aiden replied with his million dollar smile. Could he be any more of a charmer?
"Shut up." I punched his arm playfully. I was acting like a helpless little fangirl around him, but I couldn't help how I acted near him.
"Hey, Jady. Come here." Blair called me from the table while waving at me. She sat next to Derek as Jess wasn't present today. That was a thing about Blair; she would never hung up on her friends just to be around her boyfriend. Sisters before misters.
Aiden used to sit around the same table as well.
I walked to the table and took a seat next to Blair. And on her other side, was sitting her lovebird, Derek.
Aiden sat next to me, making the Emily Sande song enter into my head.
Chelsea came as well and sat next to Aiden. She passed me a deathly glare and turned around her head to carry on with the conversation she was having with her friend.
We get it Chelsea, you don't fancy me being around. Stop making it so obvious!
For how long was she going to hate me for winning that stupid classroom election? I won by just one vote over her and that too accidentally.
"Hey, again." Aiden said cheerfully. He was too cute for his own good.
"Hi, again." I giggled, realizing how high pitched my voice sounded. Why was I acting like that?
I saw Chelsea passing me a judgmental look and shotting her head back towards her friend. I exhaled out a breath of frustration. Seriously, Chels? So much hatred for an idiotic win?
"Hey, Jade. Happy that you sat here with us. It has been a long time since we caught up on our lives." Derek greeted.
"Thank you, Derek. And I know that but you've been quite consumed with my dear friend here to pay attention to anyone else." I teased, snaking an arm around Blair who blushed a little from my remark.
"Hey, guys. Do you know where Ryan goes during lunch time?" A girl asked randomly, drawing everyone's attention to herself. I didn't know how that question suddenly entered into her mind but I found myself getting interested in knowing the answer to her question as well.
"No, Megan. But I would like to know where. He seems to be such a mystery sometimes." Another girl said.
No matter how much you tried, you couldn't be kept away from a thought related to Ryan. Someone just had to bring him back into the limelight.
I watched as the two girl engrossed into a deeper conversation about their admiration towards Ryan while everyone else started talking about their lives.
But the poor girls' fantasy could never come true because Mr. Matthews was out of the availability of the dating field.
"Hey, Jade." Aiden whispered into my ears as everyone had their attention to their conversation. I titled my head to him as he started again,"Take it as an advice or warning. Just stay away from Ryan. He is a bad guy and an even worse influence. You are a great girl, and I don't want you to get spoiled by that ass."
I decided to stay quiet on his comment about Ryan. Why was he so hateful when it came to Ryan? I knew that Ryan wasn't a bitter person and he couldn't even think of hurting me in any ways. All the things he did were with an intention to tease me and annoy me, not to bring me pain.
Then what was it about him that always kept Aiden to warn me to stay away from him?
Jason spoke with his cheerful voice, "So, you guys are going to the Halloween party, right? Tomorrow?"
As I heard him, my mind went over to the times when I used to go trick-o-treating with Sage and our friends. I missed those days.
"Everyone have to come this time, okay? No more excuses ," he announced firmly, as everyone nodded to his words.
"Great. So meet you guys tomorrow at the party." He exclaimed. Everyone screamed 'Yay, Halloween' happily.
Great, now I have a party to attend and costume to pick!
