"Misty, please don't cry."

"He didn't follow me!" Misty cleaned her nose with the Kleenex and threw it to the big mountain of other used Kleenex. "I waited for him to open the door and get me but he didn't!"

"Ash has never had a girlfriend before. He doesn't know he can do that." Leaf reassured her. She came to ask Misty for a red nail polish when she found her crying her eyes out.

"What about all those books he reads, huh?"

"He's probably been reading Adventure for the past few months."

Misty sobbed harder and buried her face on her pillow. "He will break up with me!"

"He wooon't." Leaf sighed.

"He doesn't care if we get in a fight or not!" Misty threw the pillow and grabbed a Kleenex. "I stayed outside for half an hour!"

"Misty..."

"And suddenly, I started smelling food! He was eating! I was outside waiting for him and he was eating!" Misty sniffed again. "How could he even eat in such a situation?"

Leaf nodded. "Ash would eat his meals even if Kanto goes on war."

Misty wiped off her tears. She leaned against the wall. "I made him a chocolate and almonds cake the other day. Mom was on FaceTime. She helped me."

"Did he eat it?"

Misty blushed and nodded. "All of it. He fell asleep afterwards."

"Misty, Ash likes you very much." Leaf smiled sweetly.

"I'd never know if he loves me though." Misty sighed. "And there is this Serena. She keeps getting in the way."

"It's hard to be Ash's girlfriend."

"That's what I was thinking. It was easy when I had a crush on Gary."

"Gary isn't any easier to deal with." Leaf shook her head. "He's a capricious kid. You don't know him, trust me."

"Sounds better than having to watch out for a kid like Ash and hide the cookies under the bed in the guestroom so he doesn't find them because he's six feet tall and he can get to the top of the fridge easily."

Leaf narrowed her eyes. "Why are we even bothering with these two?"

"How would I know?" Misty pouted. "I just don't like being in love anymore. I want to be normal again."

"This conversation has taken a weird turn. Don't you think?" Leaf giggled. "Next thing is us turning lesbian and dumping Ash and Gary."

"No way in hell I'm turning lesbian and letting Serena have Ash." Misty was very serious. "I was the one who got paired up with him for that Com project; I talked to him first; I had a crush on him first; I dated him first."

"Misty, I was joking..."

"Oh..." Misty realized how stupid that sounded. "Forget I said that."

"I didn't know you were a hardcore pro-Ketchum girl."

"I am." Misty got off her bed. "Ash is the only guy in his family. If I have Ash, it means no other girl has a Ketchum guy. They can have Bridget and Lana with their big boobs and killer yoga bodies, but they can't have a guy. That's prestige, Leaf."

Misty and Leaf stared at each other for a moment before they started to laugh loudly.

"Misty! So glad to see you laugh again."

The redhead grabbed her make-up bag from her desk. "I get bad acne when I depress."

"That's all?"

Misty brought her mirror close. She glanced at her reflection and then told Leaf, "I don't want my face to look like pizza when Ash comes begging for me to forgive him."

"You have a point. But, are you waxed? That's more important."

Misty kicked Leaf out of her room.
