Tae-suk, the aristocrat with tremendous power and money longs to be the emperor of the kingdom one day and Ji-Hye was a painter with dreams to paint the world with happiness. Caught in his palace trying to break in and conjure the landscape into a paper, Tae-suk commands her to draw a portrait of him. Being a woman with dignity, she rejects to abide by the rules of an arrogant man. Tae-suk's pride shattered when a mere woman couldn't be forced into his control and he killed her.

The heaven angered by Tae-suk killing a woman as fragile as herself, they cursed him that both of them would be reborn till the day Ji-Hye and Tae-suk become a whole of each other, but the catch was that no matter what era it was, Ji-Hye was destined to loath him.
