Chapter 23: This Book is Dead? Who Decided that?

(Your POV)
"Man, it feels like months."

"Dafuq are you talking about? It's only been a single night?"

Miu and I were walking past a boba tea shop, and we got ourselves a little something called bubble tea. I have never tried it before, but damn is it good! Too bad the dumbass of an author never got to drink it! Miu and I were heading towards the school in our uniforms, and unluckily for me, I was stuck in cosplay...but there was something I wanted to complain about, but couldn't.

"Why am I wearing a skirt over my pants?" I was forced to put on a skirt over my pants by Tsumugi, Kaito, and Miu, the last two were laughing their asses off. "I mean, skirts are nice because they can hide knives easier, but why?"

"Well Miku is a sneaky bitch, so she can come and go as she pleases, so she might drop in to check out the competition, or sabotage us." Miu had her hand behind her head while her other hand was holding the boba tea. "Lucky for us, we're the baddest bitches in the west, so we'll win no matter how much she sabotages us!"

"I don't take Miku for the type to sabotage us." I thought for a bit whilst thinking about what I've seen about Miku a couple times, but as a painter, it is my duty to notice even the smallest details! "Say, where is everyone else? Are they getting things ready for the festival?"

"Dude, look at your clock." Miu pointed at my watch, and I looked at the clock and gasped, we were an hour late for class! "We might as well skip for the day."

"So you mean to tell me, I'm cross dressing for no reason!?" I shouted at Miu, who innocently looked away. "Oi, keep those peepers on me woman."

"Hey, did you know Kaede's currently helping the festival committee move some of the instruments to the Tenguu Theater?" Miu quickly changed the subject without a second thought, while I slowly sipped my tea.

"Are you trying to distract me from my anger?" I asked the inventor, who was still avoiding eye contact with me.

"Is it working?" Miu asked the question that really matters, and I remained silent for a moment.

"Yes, it is actually." I began walking to the main theater of Tengu city. "Miu, come along now! We must help Kaede!"

"Yeah...no, I need to check on my helper bot 9000 to ensure it doesn't do anything." Miu didn't have such an invention, so I grabbed her hand and pulled her towards the town theater. "Wait, what if we have another incident like last time?!"

"Then I can take care of it!" I pulled out Amaterasu and wrote 'quick' on my arm using my magic paintbrush, enhancing my speed as Miu and I flew through the town.

The two of us glided through the crowds of people as though they were moving in slow motion. Miu was annoyed by this, but I politely ignored her shouting. I ran past Himiko and Tenko, with Himiko doing street magic tricks to distract the crowd of people from Tenko beating up some dude for what I'm assuming doing something that involves Himeko. We also passed by Maki, who was simply walking home with some groceries in her hands, and what I'm assuming was ketchup on her hands. Ryoma was sitting in the park, smoking a cigarette until we brushed right past him, and I stole his cigarette to dump it into an ashtray. I reached the theatre that this little talent show was gonna take place at. The theatre was nothing fancy, I think this is the second theatre in Tenguu, the first one still has my paintings, this one doesn't have a lick of my works. Miu and I stopped in front of it to see Korekiyo talking to some girl with a long black ponytail and an orange ribbon.

"So you're saying that angels, fallen angels, and devils now get along???" Korekiyo asked the dark haired girl in disbelief. "That's quite a shock, why is that?"

"Because they've grown tired of wars." The dark haired girl then handed him a case full of something. "Anyhow, here are those charms you requested. You know, it's quite rare to see a human fighting against beings who could be considered gods."

"Oh my god Korekiyo is talking to a girl, we must go intervene!" Miu shouted as the two of us walked towards the duo before scaring Korekiyo. "YO, KOREKIYO, who's this. Don't tell me you're cheating on your girlfriend now, are ya? Not after you got her pregnant!"

"What." Korekiyo asked in a confused manner. "Who on Earth did I get pregnant?"

"Your dead sister." Miu answered without a moment of hesitation, and I almost spit out my tea.

"Oh I'm not interested in him, I'm interested in someone else already." The dark haired girl sweatdropped. "I'm only here to deliver something for Korekiyo on behalf of an acquaintance of ours."

"Good, because this guy is the kind you'd avoid at supermarkets." I continued to sip my boba tea.

"Why are you wearing a skirt?" The woman pointed at my legs, and in response, I put one hand on my waist.

"Because I make it WORK!" I did a stupid pose, and my friends just stared at me.

"Hell yeah you do!" Miu shouted before we promptly high fived each other, much to the confusion of the two in front of us.

"Guys, come on, Gonta needs help moving with the piano and Kokichi and Kaito aren't exactly being the most helpful right now!" Kiibo came out of the theatre and called us over. "I'd help, but my strength is being preserved for 'Battle Mode'."

"What about Angie, Kirumi, Yuzuru, Kaguya, Kurumi, and Tohka?" I asked, since those guys should be here as well.

"Kirumi and the twins are cleaning the entire theatre, Angie's in charge of the decor, and Tohka plus Kurumi are helping Tsumugi make Kaede's outfit." Kiibo informed us as we waved the ponytail girl goodbye. "Who was that?"

"She's a former member of the Himejima Clan, one of the most powerful clans in Japan." Korekiyo informed us as we walked into the theater.

"Well damn, it'd be bad to get on her bad side." I finished my bubble tea and tossed the empty container into the nearby trash can. "So anyway, is it me, or has it felt like forever since I started crossdressing."

"It's literally been one day." Korekiyo scowled or something, it was kind of hard to tell underneath that mask. "Quit complaining."

"No, I'm just saying it felt longer than usual since I've dawned this skirt." I kept on trying to see if anyone felt the way I did.

"Now that you mention it, it did feel like forever since I arrived even though it was a couple weeks back." Kiibo thought out loud.

"See! I am not going crazy!" I pointed to Kiibo, who looked concerned for my mental health.

"Hold still (Y/N), let me run a brain scan on you." Kiibo's eyes started glowing green, but I did the opposite of what Kiibo asked by waving my hands in front of my face.

"Hey, no scans!" I shouted as we walked down the hall, getting a couple stares in response. "So where's Gonta anyways?"

"He's in the main theater area with Kirumi, Kaede, Yuzuru, and Kaguya." Kiibo informed me as we entered a large room through a set of double doors. "Come on, let's not keep him waiting."

Kiibo opened the doors and we were met with a large theater room, with a large amount of seats that was easily in the hundreds. In the front of the theatre was a large stage, so large I think an entire orchestra could fit up there. At the stage were your friends, with Kaito and Kokichi arguing about something so loud they were earning stares from everyone else in the theater. Kirumi was politely ignoring them while vacuuming the theater's carpet, with Kaguya and Yuzuru helping Kirumi by vacuuming the fabric seats. Kaede was pacing on the stage while overlooking a sheet of paper I'm assuming had the music she wrote. As for Gonta, he was trying to fit a massive piano through a door, but failed. I think he could just push it through, but I don't think he wanted to break anything. The four of us approached Gonta to try helping him out.

"Oh, hi (Y/N), Miu, Korekiyo, Kiibo!" Gonta greeted us with his usual cinnamon roll energy. "Gonta is having trouble with this piano, but it's okay, Gonta can find a way somehow!"

"We believe in you man, let's just give you a hand." I used Amaterasu to paint 'Strong' on my wrist and grabbed the opposite side of the Piano from Gonta. "Okay, buddy, we're gonna need to tilt the piano clockwise, while I turn it counter clockwise. Sound good?"

"What do clocks have to do with moving piano?" Gonta questioned, and sometimes I forget he doesn't know much. He's confused, but he got spirit.

"Okay, I'm gotta rotate this thing a bit, and just follow my lead." I sweatdropped, not sure how this will play out but whatever.

I then rotated the piano counter clockwise, and Gonta supported the piano as it rotated. Now that the piano was on its side, I began walking backwards, and Gonta followed my lead. Now that the piano was on its side, it was able to fit through the thin door frame now. Gonta and I walked until we approached an x where I'm assuming the piano was supposed to go. We flipped the piano onto its legs and set it down.

"Pst, (Y/N), Kaede's looking stressed right now." Miu was elbowing my side to get my attention. "Maybe you can ask her out on a date to help calm her nerves or something?"

"Miu, she just looks like she needs someone to help calm her down, not someone to go get brownies with." I brushed over the word 'Strong' I painted on myself, causing the word to disappear. "Besides, I doubt that asking her out while wearing a skirt is the best idea."

"Well how about you help calm her down?" Miu then started pushing me towards Kaede, and due to my frame being built like a stick, it was easy for Miu to do so.

"No this note should be something else, I feel like it offsets the entire song..." Kaede muttered to herself, not even noticing me and Miu. "What if I can't play as well as I used to?"

"Hey, Kaede." I was forced to greet the blonde haired girl, who stopped pacing and looked at me. "I understand you're feeling stressed and all that, but I know you'll do well without even realizing it."

"But I haven't performed since the incident." Kaede reminded me and traced her fingers over her neck, which still had scars from the incident. "What if I can't perform as well?"

"If it was anyone else, you'd be right, but you're Kaede Akamatsu, so you will not only do well, but also play a piano solo so well that Miku and everyone else will regret even thinking they were gonna win this." You then did a stupid pose, and ended it by pointing at Kaede, who smiled upon hearing this.

"Thank you (Y/N)." Kaede's stress seemed to melt away, and I'm not sure if it was what I said that did the trick or me doing the stupid pose to help make her laugh. "Hey look, Tsumugi, be careful."

"Kaede, I finished a pair of dresses for you!" Tsumugi then walked on stage, and following behind her was Tohka, Origami, and Rantaro, with Tohka suddenly tackling me into a hug so hard I felt the wind get knocked out of me. "Wait, Tohka be careful! That dress isn't suited for running! Rantaro's is!"

"I thought you only worked on cosplays?" Rantaro asked the blue haired girl.

"Oh these are dresses from some anime and games I liked." Tsumugi pointed at Rantaro's dress. "Like your dress is Tifa's dress from the Final Fantasy VII remake, but I changed the color to peach. Tohka's dress is Lunafreya's dress from Final Fantasy XV but hot pink. Origami's dress is Beatrice's dress from Umineko When They Cry, but I changed the color to red."

"(Y/N), try getting under this skirt, you can probably hide in it." Origami ordered, and I hid behind Gonta, who followed me to Kaede.

"I missed you (Y/N), it felt like forever since I last saw you!" Tohka greeted me whilst hugging me.

"See? I told you I wasn't the only one!" I pointed at Korekiyo, Miu, and Kiibo. "Say, I feel like we were supposed to do something. Wasn't I supposed to seal someone away or something?"

Then Miku Izayoi walked in.

"Oh, right."
