Chapter 22: Cross Dressing

(Your POV)
Well it's official, my life is a joke.

I was currently looking at myself in the mirror in the hallway, examining the new identity that Tsumugi gave me. My pink hair was braided and my attire was completely different compared to what I would usually wear. Like I would usually wear my paint-stained jacket, but Tsumugi told me that would ruin my disguise, so I had to hand it to Kirumi. Right now, I was walking through the halls with Tsumugi, Korekiyo, Gonta, Himiko, and Tenko.

(Your disguise)

"Relax (Y/N), you look perfectly fine." Korekiyo, who was actually not wearing his mask for once to show off his feminine features. "Besides, this is just practice for when you have to  meet with <Diva> again."

"Easy for you to say." My voice sounded higher because I used my paintbrush to make my voice high pitched to sound more feminine. "By the way, why do you wear lipstick underneath your mask?"

"My sister possesses my body whenever I'm in situations of extreme stress." Korekiyo was officially crazy, why is he here? "So I wake up two hours early every morning to work on my appearance carefully to ensure my mortal vessel is worthy of her."

"Please get help." I requested my anthropologist friend, and he merely shook his head with a scowl. "Out of everyone here, I think you need it the most. You need to move on."

"Yeah Korekiyo, the fact you killed me because of it is really stupid." Tenko reminded the man. "Like at least Kirumi did it because Ryoma wanted her to, and Gonta was tricked, but you did it for your dead sister...with a seesaw..."

"How do you kill someone with a seesaw?" I asked, and everyone looked away, not wanting to explain it. "Okay, changing the subject, Tsumugi, who am I cosplaying as? I don't play video games or watch as much manga as you do, so what's her name?"

"Her?" Tsumugi sounded confused, what was so confusing about my question, unless...

"I'm not cosplaying a girl am I?" I asked the cosplayer, who looked away with a nervous expression. "Who am I cosplaying as Tsumugi? Who the hell am I cosplaying as?"

"(Y/N), why are you dressed as Astolfo?" Origami suddenly appeared in front of us, causing Tenko to enter a neo-aikido stance in front of Himiko. "Are you into this?"

"What, who's this (Y/N) you're talking about, my name is Shiori?" I lied horribly, I was never the best liar, also, isn't Astolfo from a French poem?

"You have (Y/N)'s smell, a smell I would recognize anywhere." Origami stated, and I forgot she smells my gym clothes, a fact I've learned to accept. "Also, you were sitting in your desk at school,so it's not that hard to put two and two together."

"She's right you know." Himiko commented. "Also, the reason why he's cross dressing is to help with <Diva>, since she appears to be very anti-man, like Tenko."

"That would explain her over friendliness to us AST members." Origami commented as Gonta was suddenly tackled into a hug, but the tackle didn't bring him down. "Moriko, what are you doing here? Don't you go to Rindouji?"

"My classmate Miku wanted to come over to see our rivals of the Music Festival." Morioko informed us as Gonta hugged her in response. "I came with her just to see Gonta, lying about seeing the competition for the Music Festival."

"Wait, there's a competition?" I asked, and Moriko nodded before looking at me carefully with slight disgust. "I know what you're thinking, and I'm only doing this to help contain a spirit."

"So you're cross dressing to help contain a spirit?" Moriko asked as she and Gonta separated from their hug. "I'm not judging, but I am confused as to why you're cosplaying Astolfo."

"Who the hell is this Astolfo you're talking about?"

"I think the person you're cosplaying as." Kaede walked towards us with some music sheets in hand. "Though wasn't Astolfo originally from a French poem?"

"Indeed, this Astolfo is from a series known as Fate, a series with servants that are people from the past, such as myths and legends." Tsumugi appeared to be a massive otaku, which would explain her hobby to cosplay. "My personal favorite of these servants is Heracles, but they also have a bunch of other servants from history, like Astoria, Miyamoto Musashi, Christopher Columbus, Julius Caesar."

"Who is Artoria, I don't believe I've heard of her." Korekiyo appears not to know of Artoria, and as creepy as he is, he knows a lot about cultures around the world. "Please inform me."

"Artoria is Arthur Pendragon, who was actually a girl." Tsumugi announced, and all of us looked at her in surprise. "Mordred was only conceived because Merlin gave her a penis!"

"I have officially lost hope for this generation." Korekiyo looked into the sky overdramatically.

"Like you're one to talk." I commented with slight venom in my voice as a purple haired girl began walking towards us, and she kind of looked like <Diva>.

"So you're the competition for the Tenou Festival?" The purple haired girl looked at Kaede with amusement, comparable to a king looking down at a peasant out of smug pitty. "I wanted to see who I was up against because I heard she was an amazing pianist, but judging for your appearance, I can tell those were exaggerated rumors."

"Why you little-" I was about to throw hands with this girl, but Korekiyo stopped me by placing a hand over my mouth.

"Excuse me, that's not exactly good sportsmanship." Korekiyo tried dealing with the girl in a civilized manner, and she only looked at him with disgust. "Perhaps you should act like an actual adult and bring honor to your school by being a good sportsman."

"Who do you think you are talking to me like that?" The woman glared at Korekiyo. "Also, what's your deal? You look like a creep."

"I am a creep, no need to point out the obvious, and since we're pointing out each other's flaws now, you look like nothing more than a brat." Korekiyo was actually spitting venom back, and I looked at Kaede, who looked slightly disheartened from the insult earlier.

"I refuse to listen to the words of some creep!" The woman noticed Gonta was talking to Moriko. "Moriko, back away from that gross thing before it ends up hurting you."

"Miku, what the hell did you just say?" Moriko looked beyond pissed, and the rest of us silently backed away from her. "This is Gonta Gokuhara, and he's a man, not a thing. He's not just any man, but he's also a true gentleman, and my boyfriend. So you're not just wrong, you're stupid. And you're ugly, just like your mom."

"I'm starting to see how you two are related." Himiko commented as we watched Moriko pull out a .44 magnum, and Gonta had to hold her back to prevent her from killing Miku.

"Ugh, if I had known you were going out with a male I wouldn't have brought you along." Miku sighed and looked at me. "Who's the girl cosplaying as Astolfo?"

"I'm Shiori, and don't talk to my friends like they're subhuman." I used a made-up name calmly. "Besides, you're at OUR high school, so don't you think you should be treating us with a little more respect."

"Who are you to ask things like that of me, have you forgotten I'm an idol, you're just a nobody." Wow, this Miku girl is getting on my nerves, I hope she's nobody's best girl, oh wait, we do character development, so she'll probably get better.

"Oh I didn't ask you, I demanded you do so." I corrected the girl as I smiled, using that smile to hide my unrivaled rage. "Let me get some things clear right off the bat, Kaede is always doing her best and deserves the best, Gonta is a true gentleman and you can't tell me otherwise, and Korekiyo may be creepy."

There was a silence between us after I finished my sentence, but this silence made me think they were waiting for me to finish my sentence, and Korekiyo was the first to say anything. "...and?"

"There is no and, that's all I have to say." I put my hands on my hips stubbornly. "So Miku, we WILL kick your ass at the Tenou festival whether you like it or not."

"I look forward to seeing your attempt." Miku smiled challengingly before she walked off, leaving us alone in confusion.

"Oh my god am I really that bad?" Tenko asked, and all of us nodded in agreement to show she was. "I am so sorry."

"You should be." Origami commented, causing me to hit the back of her head. "Also, was it me, or did she look a lot like <Diva>?"

"I agree, it was almost like looking at a picture of her." Kaede joined in on the commentary, followed by everyone else agreeing that she looked like <Diva>. "Could she be a spirit like Kurumi, where she can blend into society?"

"It's quite possible, but that takes a lot of practice from what we've seen." Korekiyo began thinking of the possibility. "From what I've heard, <Diva> was first seen half a year ago, and Yoshino has been a spirit for much longer than that, and Yoshino can't blend into society."

"But remember, Yoshino was known as the <Hermit>, meaning she's not the biggest fan of people." I pointed out, and nobody seemed to be taking me seriously because of my cosplay. "Yuzuru and Kaguya are also likely younger than Yoshino, and they can blend into society just as fine."

"Wait, are we sure it's a good idea to talk about this while Origami and Moriko are here?" Tsumugi pointed at the AST members in question. "I mean, what if they hurt <Diva>?"

"A bit ironic for you to be thinking about that." Tenko commented, and usually she respects all women, don't tell me Tsumugi is in the same category as us males to her. "Though Origami just does what she's told and Moriko is...do you still even work for the AST?"

"No, I quit, but I got to keep my gun because my home planet, Remnant, is infested with Grimm." Moriko is from Remnant, a planet that's relatively close by but far enough away to not affect Earth's gravity. "I wanted to focus more on my studies."

"Wait, if you're from another planet, does that make you an alien like the ones from To Love Ru?" Tsumugi asked, and sweet jeebus she is just as big a nerd as Kokichi said she was. "Do you have multiple security guards coming after you because you're a princess who dares oppose her father's wishes?"

"No, I'm the daughter of people who protect animal species from Grimm." Moriko explained, slightly worried about Tsumugi's mental state. "My family runs an animal preserve on Vacuo, it's been in the family for generations."

"Say, how did you get here anyways, coming from another planet and all?" Himiko asked, and I've been curious about that too. "Did you use magic?"

"No, spaceships have become more widespread ever since nuclear power began being used to power electrical powered rockets." Moriko explained, and I'm not sure if that's possible. "The AST has access to some pretty amazing technology, and you guys are concerned with how I got here?"

(A/N: Please note that the statement above is entirely science fiction, I doubt space travel will become widespread if those conditions are met.)

"Now that you mention it, we all do have access to some pretty amazing technology." Kaede began thinking, and most likely of the airship that <Ratatoskr> hosts it's meetings at. "How come we never thought about space travel?"

"Plus all those overelaborate executions Monokuma put us through, first the giant piano, then the trapdoor BDSM thing for me, and then the giant bug plus flamethrower." Korekiyo pointed out, and how rich was this Monokuma fellow, Batman levels rich?

"Wait, why are we talking about the economic status of a robot bear, we were talking about how Miku looked a lot like <Diva>?" Moriko got us all back on track.

"Gonta only saw a picture of Diva, but Miku look a lot like Diva." Gonta added his input into the equation.

"Miu made a face recognizer thingy that tests the similarities of someone's face, let's try it when we get back home." I commented, and we all agreed to wait until we go home before discussing this further.

"So...why is (Y/N) dressed as Astolfo specifically?"

"Because (Y/N) and Astolfo have similar body types."

(Time skip, brought to you by Kaede playing the piano)

Back at the spirit manner, all of us finished our homework and were currently doing our own thing. The sound of the piano being played could be heard throughout the whole mansion, and Angie was dancing down the halls enthusiastically matching her dance with the piano. Kaede was obviously the source of the piano playing, and I sat right next to her. Kaede was still slowly getting used to her talent again, and I sat shoulder to shoulder with her just so she knows she's not alone. The two of us sat together in a spare room that just so happened to house a piano. Despite her gracefully beautiful playing, Kaede was nervous. She was sweating, her pupils were dilated, her breathing was rough, and she needed a break every minute or so to catch her breath. Despite my appearance, I am not one to force girls to do things, and Kaede was doing this entirely on her own. To be honest, I was worried about her, I wanted her to pace herself and do what makes her happy, and if that happens to be playing the piano, then she needs to ease herself into it. She suddenly stopped playing and began breathing rapidly like she just ran a marathon.

"Kaede, I understand your dedication, but please try to pace yourself." I requested the pianist, who shook her head. "You're obviously getting an anxiety attack or something along those lines, so please take a break."

"No, I'm fine (Y/N)." Kaede spoke in a determined tone, and I was worried for her, I'm not sure how bad damage could be in Kaede's situation, but I don't want her to have a PTSD attack that ends with her hurting herself.

"Why are you pushing yourself, it's not that big of a deal?" I asked as I handed Kaede a water bottle. "If you wanted to go back to playing the piano, then take time, no need to rush yourself for some silly contest!"

"(Y/N), you've helped me more than I could ever say, and I felt awful about not being able to repay that kindness." Kaede explained before taking a quick drink of water. "That was until I heard of the Tenou Festival, it's like it was designed for me. If I win and get that reward, then I would do something for you."

"You don't have to do anything for me, I'm just grateful you're here." I wrapped my arms around Kaede, and I was blushing obviously. "But please learn to pace yourself, I hate seeing you like this."

"Hey guys, the scans are done!" Miu barged into the room and saw me hugging a sweaty and slightly red Kaede. "You know if you guys are gonna have sex, you could at least invite me so we could have a threesome."

"I had hoped you could at least differentiate between an anxiety attack and 'getting steamy', but it appears my hopes were too high." I commented whilst separating from Kaede so the two of us can stand up.

"I'll go too, I think I could use a break." Kaede joined Miu and I walked towards Kiibo's room.

Kiibo's room had the most technology in it because he doesn't need sleep, just needs to charge every once and a while. With that in mind, the three of us reached Kiibo's room to see a large computer set up and Kiibo typing away on it. I joined everyone behind the robot and saw an image of Miku and <Diva> on it, along with a 100% at the bottom of the screen, indicating these two were indeed the same people. Kiibo turned around to face us and explain the news, but Shuichi beat him to the punch.

"So Miku is indeed a spirit..." Shuichi put his finger to his chin, signaling that he was thinking. "Who knew, could there be other people in our everyday lives be part of the supernatural?"

"I mean I know a shrine maiden who's a devil." Korekiyo pointed out, and all of us looked at him in surprise. "What?"

"You talk to people other than us?" Tenko asked in surprise, and when Korekiyo nodded, Tenko almost collapsed out of shock.

"You guys are assholes, you know that?" Korekiyo pointed out the obvious fact. "We started talking to one another because she wanted to know more about fallen angels for some reason."

"Are you two going out or something?" Ryoma asked from his spot next to Kiibo, and Korekiyo quickly shook his head. "Wow, do you hate her that much?"

"No, she already likes someone, he's actually enrolled in the Talented Course in Kuoh, I think his title is the Ultimate Immortal." Korekiyo corrected. "Besides, my sister is my one true love."

"Korekiyo, get some help, she's dead, it's time to move on." Kiibo pointed out as he rolled his eyes. "Also, how are the rest of you not surprised that a world famous musician is a spirit?!"

"To be fair, all of us died and came back because some gamer felt like it." Kaito reminded, which was a fair point. "Also, it appears she's like Tenko, and only works for girls."

"No, I treat women with respect, this girl hates everyone, but she hates guys way more." Tenko corrected, for once giving us some valuable input. "So she might be even worse than me.

"Not scientifically possible!"

Needless to say I was suplexed into the ground.

(A/N: Sorry about depicting Miku as kind of a bitch for the first introduction, but fear not! She gets character development, and becomes a better person through the power of friendship! Also, just so we're clear, Shinobi's Dream, Shield of the Waves, and Paint a Live all exist in the same universe. It's not gonna be like Marvel where they all come together, instead, it's probably gonna be more along the lines of the characters knowing of each other's existence, but not really being friends. As time goes on, I might add more series to the mix, bu that's a pretty big 'might'.
