Chapter 21: Diva

(Your POV)
Today was a rare occasion, I was completely on my own. Everyone else was back at school, deciding what to do for the cultural festival. I was on my own, doing some research into who Reine was, I know that the teddy bear she has is the same one I gave the love of my life years ago, but Reine refuses to acknowledge my questions on the subject of where she got that bear. So I decided to do some digging on my own. As for who the love of my life is, well let's just say she's very similar to Kaede, hence why I developed a small crush for Kaede in the first place.

I was currently at the pharmacy where Reine gets her sleeping medicine, using my stand's first act to cover any essence of my presence as I looked through the medical files for Reine's orders. I have no leads on what Reine actually does outside of work, other than come to this pharmacy for sleeping medicine that she uses to stay awake at work. So I was looking around the files for any sort of information, like a bank number or something, but I'm not getting anything useful.

Out of nowhere, I get a call from Kotori, and I quickly answer it because my stand's power only applies to me, but not my phone. Unsurprisingly, Kotori didn't give me much time to respond to her on the phone, and to my surprise, she told me a new spirit has arrived, one known as <Diva>. From reports from the AST, she appears quite friendly and some AST members even had doubts about killing her. Granted, she is still very much alive, so I need to take care of her. Like she said earlier, <Diva> is known for being cooperative, so I can probably do this on my own.

I sighed and hung up the phone, later getting a text from Kotori about <Diva's> current location, which was an abandoned theatre. I used my phone to take pictures of the files containing Reine's information and left the pharmacy, feeling the sun burn above my head as I left. Lately, all my friends have been acting weird, and a new person joined our little social group, Tsumugi. Lately most of them have been debating whether we should kill her or not. Tenko, Maki, Kaito, Miu, Ryoma, Kirumi, and Korekiyo think we should kill her because of everything she's done. Meanwhile Rantaro, Kaede, Shuichi, Gonta, Kiibo, Himiko, and Angie think we should spare her because she has no memory of anything other than nerd culture. Kokichi didn't help at all, being the liar that he is. Tohka, Origami, Yuzuru, Kaguya, Kotori, Kurumi, Yoshino, Reine, and I were neutral because we didn't go through what they did.

I arrived at the abandoned theatre, and it looks like it was burnt down twenty or something years ago and people didn't really care enough to take care of what was left. The building was barely standing, and one foul breath looked like it could take the whole building down. I gently pushed open the door, desperately trying not to break it as I walked in. As I entered the theatre, the sound of someone singing could faintly be heard. I recognized the song as one of my favorite idols, Miku-Tan. I couldn't pinpoint the exact song, so I kept on walking forwards to see if I could hear her better.

I kept on walking and saw the door to the auditorium, I looked at the door and saw a girl who was most likely the target, but I noticed how she looks almost EXACTLY like Miku-Tan. Could it be like Kurumi's situation where she had incredible control of her powers? Either way, I needed to observe her more. I tried using my stand, but The Circle appeared to be tried, so I was on my own. I took a step into the room, and almost instantly, the door fell off its hinges and created a lot of noise. <Diva> looked at me, but she squinted, signaling that she had a hard time seeing. It was dark everywhere other than where she was standing, with the light source being a large hole in the ceiling.

"Oh hello there, I suppose you're a fan of my singing?" <Diva> asked like she was expecting praise, and I've noticed something when working with girls, they tend to get along with other girls, so I used <Amaterasu> to paint 'high pitched' to sound more feminine.

"Yeah, I was passing by when I heard the sound of your voice." I sounded female enough, but I was still kind of iffy about my appearance, so I stayed in the darkness. "It sounded very elegant yet energetic."

"Why thank you, if you'd like I can sing you another song, but you'll have to come into the light so I could get a better look at you." <Diva> suggested, and I quickly used my magic paint to create synthetic hair made of solidified paint to make my hair longer.

I walked forward, and apparently my makeshift disguise managed to convince the spirit that I was indeed a woman, albeit an ugly one. I took a seat in one of the burnt chairs towards the back and <Diva> began singing, and to be honest, I felt as though I could be hypnotized by her singing, but hypnotism has never really worked on me. It was like I was blessed from any mind affecting things, which is weird cause I ain't the smartest guy around. I knew right away I was listening to a professional musician when I saw her serene yet passionate expression sing with the voice of several angels. When she was in the middle of her song, AST members suddenly descended on the scene, and I got my paintbrush ready should a fight occur.

"Ah good afternoon AST members." <Diva> greeted the AST like they were friends, making some of the girls on the squad very uncomfortable as the prepared their weapons.

Much to <Diva's> surprise, all of the AST members drew their energy swords and charged at her with the intent to kill, in response to this, I activated <Sun Painter Amaterasu>, which unfortunately blew a hole in the roof and removed all of the paint from before. I created a wall made of paint to protect <Diva> from the AST's blade, and <Diva> saw that I was actually a guy. For some reason, she didn't offer me the same treatment as the AST members.

"Oh, so you're a guy." <Diva> pointed out in disgust before talking again. "I don't need your help here, so you can just leave!"

"Please don't be sexist, I already have to put up with one sexist person at school and work." I begged, already annoyed with this girl despite her beauty. "Next you're gonna tell me you practice neo-aikido."

"I told you I don't need help from a male such as yourself!" <Diva> pointed out as the barrier I made was cut in half by an energy blade. "So you can just leave!"

"I am not leaving until I can promise your safety." I answered as I wrote 'bang' on the forehead of the AST member who cut through my paint wall, causing a flash bang-like explosion to appear.

I tried grabbing <Diva's> wrist so I could help her run away from the conflict, but instead, she just slapped my hand away with a look of pure hatred. For some reason, her hatred wasn't directed at me personally, rather, just something that I was. I was scared she managed to pinpoint who I was almost instantly, but I reminded myself that even Shuichi, the ultimate detective, couldn't find out my secret, so she must hate me for a different reason, but what?I couldn't think much about it before a wave of sound overcame my senses, and I was knocked out from the impact of it all.

(Timeskip, brought to you by paint blocking out the camera)

I woke up four hours later, when the AST and <Diva> left, I scolded myself for letting her get away, but I decided to ignore it for now. I was on the stage, surprisingly uninjured aside from my injured eardrums, I got up from my spot on the stage and looked around. It was now dark, so the others were probably worried about me. I checked my phone to see I got a couple missed calls from everyone, except for Yoshino, who doesn't have a phone. I felt happy that people cared so much for me, unlike years ago.

I started walking out of the theatre, but then I noticed that a part of it possessed a familiar painting. The paint of it was falling off, but I could still make out the fact that it was a recreation of Robin Hood shooting a second arrow that split the first one in half. I could recognize it right away as a painting I painted, it was one of my newer works, especially compared to things that still hang in museums today, too bad they're in history museums and not art ones.

Despite the fact my feet weren't sore, I decided to take a bus home. I walked towards the closest bus station and waited, taking time to examine the beautiful moon as I did so. It reminds me of the night where I showed my most horrifying feature to the one I love, my true self. Now the one I love is gone, and I paint to desperately fill that void in my heart, and from now on, I decided to never reveal my true self, or my god killing mode, ever again. There's a power beyond my god slaying mode, two actually. God Killer and God Savior, I haven't unlocked the second one, just the first one, and the sacrifice was too great, I must never use it again.

I know some of you might not care, but I think I should tell you some things I discovered about my Amaterasu as I waited for the bus. The name 'relic' is a shortened version of 'a god slaying relic', but the name is very misleading. Despite the fact it was designed to kill a god, it has a failsafe mode known as God Savior, I only know of this mode because a man named Wanderer, another relic user, used it. As far as I know, he, King, some guy who goes to Kuoh, and I are the only people who are capable of utilizing relics, but only Wanderer can use God Savior mode to my knowledge.

My train of thought was cut short when the bus finally arrived, and I got onto the bus and pulled out my phone after sitting down. The bus was very empty, so I was free to sit wherever. I sent texts to everyone to show I was still alive, and Kiibo responded almost instantly. His text read: "I was worried about you, don't scare us like that ever again!" Kiibo used a lot of emojis in his text to show how angry he was with me, but I was able to tell he meant well.

I reached the bus stop closest to the spirit mansion and got off the bus before walking back to the mansion. When I passed the gates at the entrance, I was met with a tackling hug from everyone who lived here, much to my surprise, they were all waiting for me outside the mansion, even Kokichi, Tenko, Tsumugi were there waiting for me.

"What took you so long to get home, do you have any idea how worried we were?!" Tenko grabbed my shoulders and began shaking me violently. "We thought the spirit killed you after you didn't answer our calls!"

"Since when do you care about what happens to another male!" Kokichi asked in his usual snarky tone, and he got karate chopped by Tenko. "OW, THAT WAS A GENUINE QUESTION!"

"Because (Y/N) is entirely a degenerate, he's in the same category as Gonta and Shuichi!" Tenko pointed her thumb at the two in question. "This world needs more people like them, people who aren't degenerates."

"My scanners show that you have injured eardrums, indicating that the spirit has sound based powers and attacked you!" Kiibo pointed out as he opened his chest to pull out a first aid kit. "I have a first aid kit!'"

"Sorry, if Gonta there, then Gonta help!" Gonta shouted in shame of himself, and I simply pay his head to show it's alright, by the way, headpats are not just for lolis, they're for any pure being.

"Yeah but you've only got size and strength going for you, besides, you're a pacifist nowadays, so I doubt that's a good idea for you to be caught up in conflict." I got up as everyone got off me.

"Pacifist, isn't that the thing babies suck on?" Tohka asked, and I decided to teach her more things about the human world on the spot.

"No, Tohka, that's a pedophile." Miu answered, and I genuinely can't tell if she was joking or being serious.

"Miu, I think Tohka's talking about a pacifier." Maki corrected with a sweatdropped going down her head.

"Well, I guess she isn't wrong." Kokichi throughout his thoughts before Tenko punched him in the stomach. "Go ahead, say I am."

"I think it depends on how well the security of the place is." Ryoma commented, and given how Tohka was confused while Yoshino looked mildly uncomfortable, I decided to change the subject.

"So how did the meeting go?" I asked, and everyone looked away in shame. "Not that well?"

"Well I suggested we all sang to see who would be the vocalist, but then everyone decided to write some...interesting lyrics." Kaede looked at Korekiyo, who tipped his hat down to hide his face. "Korekiyo flat out said his sister is hot."

"I speak nothing but the truth." Korekiyo commented, and all of us backed away from him. "Don't act as though my personality is contagious."

"You can't be too careful." Angie commented, and I saw a ticked off mark appear on Korekiyo's upper cheek. "By the way, I made dinner tonight, so let us feast to our heart's content!"

"But I didn't seal off the powers of the spirit known as <Diva>?" I was reminded by remembering the scene from earlier, and to my surprise, everyone brushed off my incompetence.

"It okay, everyone make mistakes, but try to trust us next time." Gonta smiled the same way he always does. "You don't have to worry about bothering us, we are friends."

"Besides, what matters is that you didn't die, so that means you can seal her later." Kotori actually seemed to care about my well being, don't tell me she's a tsundere.

With that said, all of us entered the house to see the dinner table was full of different foods that are of Hawaiin origin, and luckily, there was no pineapple on the pizza. I sat between Yuzuru and Kaguya, who appeared to enjoy the taste of coconuts as they ate. For once in a great while, I forgot about my issues involving my past and what I've done, I was happy to be surrounded by these people, and I wouldn't have it any other way.

"So...we looked at some footage of <Diva>, and is it me, or does she look like Miku-Tan." Rantaro pointed out, and I commented that I agreed. "Do you guys think that it's possible that Miku actually used her spirit powers for her career?"

"It's unlikely, Miku has been an idol for a while and <Diva> has been known only four about half a year." Kotori pointed out, but Kurumi told us something shocking.

"Has it occurred to any of you that ordinary people can become spirits, they just need to strike a deal with...her." Kurumi informed us, and the moon actually got serious.

"Who is 'her'?" Ryoma asked before putting some fish into his mouth and swallowing it. "Is she a human or a spirit?"

"It would be more accurate to call her a god, and if you guys thought I was dangerous, then she's on an entirely different level." Kurumi actually appeared to know this mysterious person. "Her spirit name is <Deus>, but her real name is Mio."

In an instant, my eyes went wide and I nearly choked on the fish I was eating. Mio was a beautiful and innocent girl when I met her, don't tell me that our final date together, man that third wheel guy should have never came here. Shuichi appears to have noticed my reaction, so I quickly put on my usual facade to see if I could at least deceive him for a little while longer. I truly am a coward, but I'll only hide until I figure out a quicker way to solve everything, once I fix everything, I'll come clean.

"That's a pretty weird name to give a god, that'd be like naming the abrahamic god Jeff." Korekiyo pointed out, and I tried looking under his mask as he ate, but he moved his mask too fast. "By the way, why did the spirit attack you?"

"Apparently she's super sexist." I answered bluntly, and everyone looked at Tenko, who was stuffing her face. "So in order to seal her powers, I may need to dress like a girl..."

"Lucky for us, Tsumugi is the Ultimate Cosplayer, she could probably help you out." Rantaro gestured to the blue haired girl with glasses that sat next to him.

"I'm not too confident in my skills, but I'll try." Tsumugi wore a determined expression on her face. "Still, I recommend going with someone.

"Well since there's no helping it..." Korekiyo finally put a finger on his mask and pulled it down, revealing his true face, and he looked like a woman, thanks to his scarlet red lipstick. "My time has come."

"Thanks for showing us your actual face, we hate it."

(A/N: Sorry about not uploading for a while, I wanted to focus more on my King of Games book, not saying any of you have to read it, but I am saying I'm almost done with the story part. I'm giving it a small rest so people could ask questions since the next chapter on it is gonna be a Q&A chapter. I'll try updating my senran kagura book next, but no promises, all you guys need to know is that it's happening...hopefully.
