Chapter 14: Date with a Killer
(Your POV)
Like I agreed, I was waiting at the mall in my casual clothes for Kurumi to show up. Today was my date with the spirit, so I decided to stay on guard with the earpiece in my ear. My attire was nothing special, my usual jacket over a (favorite flower) Hawaiian style shirt, khaki shorts, and sandals. I had my paintbrush in my pocket and at the ready, and I also wrote the adjectives 'evasive' and 'quick' on my arm should Kurumi try to pull anything.
"Testing, testing, one two." Miu said through my earpiece, trying to do that ASMR thing people like nowadays. "Who's the best inventor in the world?"
"I personally think the Wright brothers because they invented airplanes, and those things are super useful no matter what you do." I gave my honest answer, and I could hear Miu groan in annoyance.
"Oh yeah but I'm thiccer than both of them combined!" Miu shouted in my earpiece, and I could hear Ryoma's cat meow in the background.
"I don't know girl, Orville Wright lookin like a snack." I played along, and I could feel everyone's judgement, except for Gonta or Kaede's.
"Please stop talking, you don't want any of those being your last words." Korekiyo said through the earpiece.
"Yes I do, it'll make me stand out in the graveyard." I shot back, making Korekiyo groan in annoyance.
"Are you sure you don't want it to be something inspiring?" Kirumi asked, hoping to change my mind.
"Nope, I want it to be 'I was choked to death by an anime girl's thick thighs'." I informed my friends, and now everyone was judging me.
"Will you guys be quiet, she's coming." Kotori's voice snapped like a whip to hush everyone.
Everyone else was back at the mansion, and I was grateful that Kiibo was guarding them instead of me. It's not that I'm underestimating Kurumi or anything, but it's just that I can easily escape her if need be thanks to my stand. I noticed the girl in question walking towards me, wearing a black, Victorian style dress with her hair still covering her clock eye. To be honest, she looked rather beautiful, and it was enough to entrance me. Kurumi must have noticed my reaction, because she giggled a bit before speaking.
"Well you look handsome." Kurumi covered her smile a bit using her hand. "I see you were looking forward to this as much as I was."
"Thank you, and you look absolutely stunning." I decided to adopt an 'elegant' way of speaking to match her Victorian vibe.
"So where would you like to go, after all, you're the one who called me here?" Kurumi asked, don't tell me Kokichi actually made her believe I wrote the note.
"Take her to the lingerie store!" Miu shouted without a moment of hesitation, which I'm not gonna do.
"No I am not taking her to the lingerie store." I mumbled under my breath, but my attention was caught by Kurumi sadistically smirking for some reason, I got a bad feeling all of a sudden.
"Maybe you aren't so much as a degenerate male as I thought." Tenko gave me the closest thing to a compliment she's ever gonna give.
"Hey (Y/N), Why don't we head to the lingerie store?" Kurumi offered, shocking everyone, including me because of the sheer weirdness of the request.
"Okay then, I'm just gonna take Yoshino to the park to work on her social skills." Tenko could be heard stepping away. "See you all in hell, except Tohka and Yoshino, you two are angels."
"Bye, have Yoshino home before dinner." Kirumi demanded as I heard the sound of a door close.
I didn't get to respond before Kurumi grabbed onto my hand and pulled me towards the direction of the store. I was completely red faced, and confused as to why Kurumi would submit me to this kind of torture. The two of us walked into the store, much to the confusion of the customers and Kurumi began looking around the surprisingly wide variety of options. Kurumi offered my choices to pick for some reason, making the whole couple act look very convincing. I decided to go with the black lingerie to match her very gothic aesthetic. Kurumi seems to have agreed with my choice, but what she did next caught me off guard.
Kurumi went into the changing room to try them on, and I could feel some of the store's customers staring holes into the back of my head. I wanted to do nothing more than to use my stand and escape, but I have to play along or Kurumi will unleash her rage on the town. Okay, I'm not sure about that, but I'm scared so I'm just gonna play along.
"(Y/N)." A voice came from behind me, and I saw that it was Origami, to my surprise. "I need to talk to you about Kurumi."
"Keep your voice down, I'm on a date with her." I gestured to the changing room beside me before gesturing for Origami to follow me as I walked about three meters away from the changing room then whispering. "What do you need to tell me?"
"Kurumi is the spirit known as <Nightmare>, so I can't leave you alone with her." Origami informs me, maybe she is more than just a crazy stalker who's good at hiding her emotions. "What's more, she seems to just be targeting you for now."
"Well lucky for everyone, I'm pretty hard to kill." I whispered back, trying to make sure Kurumi couldn't hear us. "Is there anything about her capabilities you can tell me about?"
"Most of the information regarding her is classified, but I can say that she appears unable to die completely." Origami spoke in a hushed tone, most likely being cautious of Kurumi. "I'm not allowed to engage her, so I'm trying to do the next best thing by protecting you."
"Look Origami, I appreciate it and all, but apparently dating these girls is key to saving the world." I rejected the girl's offer with the most BS reason ever known to man. "Don't believe me, you're free to join Ratatoskr so long as you don't harm any spirits."
"Not saying I disagree with you, but please don't offer her a place here." Rantaro calmly requested through the earpiece.
"Well her stealth could be a valuable asset..." Reine commented, and everyone else reacted appropriately.
"Aw hell no!" Kaito shouted at everyone in the room.
"I'm going to have to reject your offer, since spirits must die." Origami already knows about me working with Ratatoskr, thanks to Kaito talking about it the other day, but the two of us have better things to do so we just accept the fact that we work for rivaling factions.
"(Y/N)~, could you come here for a moment~?" Kurumi called me, and I felt a wave of dread wash over me. "I need to show you something~"
"Origami, if I die tonight, give everything I have to my octopus." I requested the girl, who nodded in response.
"Understood." Origami responded like a soldier before the two of us walked off in our respective directions.
I kept on walking until I was back in my organs position, standing before the changing room curtains. I closed my eyes to steel my nerves, and Kurumi certainly didn't help by saying 'come in'. Everyone on the earpiece went silent, except for Miu, who was constantly chanting 'Do it' like Emperor Palpatine. I took a breath in and out before reaching for the curtain, my hand was met by a pale white one coming out and pulling me into the changing room. Before me was Kurumi, with her original clothes on the hook on the wall and wearing the black lingerie I recommended.
"So (Y/N), what do you think?" Kurumi asked as she leaned her body up against mine, and I'm not sure how I'm supposed to get a good look at her since half of her body was hiding against mine.
"Huh, I expected her tits to be smaller." Miu commented, and I was now a lot more grateful Tenko and Yoshino were away from the house.
"NIIIIIIICCCEEE!" Kaito cheered, and I decided to say something before Kurumi hears the combined groans, cheers and screams coming from my earpiece.
"Like I thought, it suits you." I felt my face turn red and looked away, and I guessed that Kurumi smirked at my reaction.
"What's the matter (Y/N), have you never touched a girl before?" Kurumi asked, and she was spot on, I have never even painted a girl, much less touched one in the manner she is suggesting.
"(Y/N), tell her that you have plenty of experience with women." Korekiyo orders, which is a total lie. "I have experience, so I'll answer any questions she has through you."
"Korekiyo, your sister does not count as 'experience'." Kotori tried to make the anthropologist be quiet, but he's my only lead other than Ryoma, who actually had a girlfriend at some point, but he's busy reconnecting with his cat.
"O-Of course I have e-experience!" I lied praying that she'll fall for the lie, but I looked at the girl to see her face was unamused, but she played along anyway.
"Oh perfect, then I won't have to explain what happens next~." Kurumi leaned up to my ear and whispered seductively, and my face lit up even more thanks to the exposure and close contact,
"We -um..." I was trying to piece together what to do next, but then Kurumi turned her attention to my face, with her face being so close to my own that I could feel her breath.
"This is the part where you kiss her." Korekiyo encouraged, which I'm not gonna do, it feels weird kissing someone I've met a couple days ago.
"Or you can just put her down gently by saying 'it's too early for this'." Ryoma suggested, which was an option I will go with.
"Sorry Kurumi, it's far too early for this." I separated the two of us using my arms, catching Kurumi off guard but getting a smile from her in response. "You are beautiful, and most of the audience's best girl for reasons that elude the author, but I'm afraid this is as far as we'll go until we get to know each other a bit more."
"Very well, I guess I'll have to respect that." Kurumi smirked before grabbing her dress. "I'll buy this, and tease you with it later. Let me get dressed before leaving, Okay?"
"Fine with me." I answered, and without warning she started undressing in front of me, and I instinctively got out of the dressing room without a moment to spare.
I covered my crimson red face with my hands and was tempted to scream out of embarrassment, but I held it in because of social standards. For the record, screaming for no apparent reason anywhere is seen as weird no matter what gender you are. I just waited there until Kurumi walked out of the changing room, wearing her Victorian dress. She paid for the lingerie and got a black plastic bag to carry it in. The two of us left the store without any real issues, other than the fact that I still had a red hue on my face and Kurumi humming a dark tune cheerfully.
Hopefully the gods will grant me mercy and let the rest of this date be normal.
(Timeskip, brought to you by Kurumi giggling menacingly)
After sometime, the two of us decided to head to the park, when I suddenly got the urge to go use the restroom. I excused myself to leave Kurumi alone for a couple minutes, and I was starting to get tired. I've been sealing spirits, doing schoolwork, and much more nonsense nonstop, maybe I should take a break after I seal off Kurumi's power. Once I finished my business, I walked back to the spot where I left Kurumi for a bit, hoping to walk her home to put the cherry on top of the date. As I walked however, another image began appearing in my mind along with a new scent...blood. With some worry in the back of my mind, I ran towards the place where Kurumi was and noticed the smell getting stronger and stronger. When I reached Kurumi, I saw her wearing a strange outfit, most likely her astral dress, standing in the blood of some random civilians.
"Kurumi...what have you done?" I asked, about ready to pull Amaterasu out of my pocket to steal Kurumi's powers right then and there.
"What's the matter (Y/N), scared?" Kurumi asked with her sadistic smile growing until it looked like the embodiment of evil. "Don't be, I would never harm you~"
"You killed them people didn't you?" I asked the obvious question before taking out Amaterasu. "For that, I'm going to take away your power to ensure you never kill again."
"That's pretty rich coming from you." Kurumi smiled before a bunch of black hands appeared from the ground and pushed me onto the ground, holding me in place before grabbing my paintbrush out of my grip. "The only thing that allows you to stand a chance is your paintbrush, but without that, you're nothing."
"(Y/N)!" I heard Kaede's voice from my earpiece, and it was full of worry and pain. "Kiibo, you go and help him, I'll contact Tenko! Just stay calm (Y/N), help is on the way."
"Don't, I would prefer it if I'm the only one who dies." I spoke into my earpiece before summoning <The Circle Act 2> to try and deactivate the sense of touch within the arms, allowing them to think I escaped and begin flailing about.
"Impressive, but futile." Kurumi took out a flintlock pistol and aimed it at me. "Don't worry, this won't hurt...much~"
Kurumi shot at me, and I grabbed Amaterasu to paint a small swipe of black paint to block the bullet, but it didn't work, and I got shot in the shoulder. I started to feel the bullet do something, so I painted 'Nullify' on the bulletwound to nullify whatever magic the bullet had. Kurumi was about to shoot again, but then a surprising figure appeared out of nowhere, Mana. I remembered the picture Kotori showed me and realized that Mana was the expert here.
"Are you Okay, Big Brother?" Mana asked, going into 'moe mode' as she talked. "That bullet hole looks pretty painful."
"It's fine." I wrote the word 'magnetic' on my palm before holding the palm above the bullet hole, forcing the bullet out of my shoulder and into my palm. "What are you doing here?"
"Moriko and I are the only ones who can kill <Nightmare>." Mana's shoulder armor began opening up for some reason. "I'm just waiting for her to deliver the first shot."
"Wait no longer." Moriko's voice came from one of the trees behind me, followed by a kind of tranquilizer dart planting itself in Kurumi's forehead. "Go ahead, Mana."
"Thank you." Mana thanked the fellow AST member, then multiple cyan blue lasers came out of her shoulders and impaled Kurumi's body, the sight of a dying person never gets any easier, so it still stings when you witness someone dying.
"What the hell was that?" I asked, in complete disbelief as the lasers dissipated and Kurumi's body fell to the ground.
"Specialized equipment to take care of <Nightmare>." Moriko explained before giving me a piece of advice. "I recommend you get going, cover up teams are coming, and you don't wanna get caught in that mess."
"See you later, big brother!" Mana waved as she and Moriko soared into the sky using their jet packs.
I sighed and looked at the bodies before me, I walked towards them until I was able to smell the rotting corpse smell all dead bodies have. I kneeled before them, trying to offer my worthless respects and apologies for getting caught up in the crossfire. My paintbrush can do many things, but it can't give back the lives Kurumi has taken away from people. Heeding my cousin's advice, I stood up from my crouching position and walked into the thick shrubbery of the park to make sure I don't run into anyone. However, as I walked, I was suddenly toppled to the ground by someone landing on me. I tried standing up, but the foot placed their foot on my back and placed a knife against my throat.
"Don't move." The voice sounded cold and feminine, kind of like an office worker that won't hesitate to stab her coworkers. "By order of the law, you're going to be taken into custody for questioning."
"I ain't do nothin." I replied sharply, getting real sick of people threatening my life at this point. "So who are you? You sound new."
"Maki Harukawa, and I know who you are (Y/N) (L/N)." The newly dubbed Maki introduced herself, which was the most respect I've gotten from someone today.
"Wait, did she say Maki Harukawa?" Kokichi asked through my earpiece, I kind of forgot they were still there. "You might as well die right now, you don't want to live through what you're gonna be put through."
"Maki, did you catch him?" A pale boy around my age walked out with a black cap covering his eye somewhat. "Good work."
"Yeah, he didn't put up as much of a fight as I thought he would." Maki explained, while the pale boy walked towards me and crouched to examine me closely.
"Sorry about this (Y/N), but we've caught you using magic on camera, and you may or may not know somethings involving some friends of ours, so you're going to need to come with us." The boy stood up after Maki put my hands in handcuffs. "There's also the chance you can help us with a serial killer case I'm working on."
"As long as I get to go home afterwards, then I'll tell you everything I know." I spoke as Maki pulled me up, forcing me to stand, but then I noticed a small girl walking towards the boy's side. "So who are you guys?"
"Oh, my name is Shuichi Saihara." The boy introduced himself before introducing the red haired girl. "As for her, she's Himiko Yumeno."
Why do these guys sound familiar?
(A/N: I know this is just my opinion, but why do people like Kurumi, or more specifically, her yandere side? It should be painfully obvious by now, but a yandere relationship is completely unhealthy. Well, unless it's a mutually supporting relationship with both sides helping each other become overall better people and overcoming their flaws together as a couple. For the record, yes killing people for having any connection to your 'beloved senpai' is a flaw, don't @ me.
