Chapter 11: New Challengers Approch! (Fixed)
(Your POV)
All of us were currently chilling in class, with me at my desk texting my most recent employer. Kiibo also managed to join our class, but to hide the fact that he was a robot, he was wearing a dark gray cap, trench coat, gloves, pants, and boots. Now that I think about it, there's a lot of empty seats in this classroom. Now that I think about it, there's only me, Origami, Tohka, my friends, and four extras in the entire classroom. Yoshino would have gone here, but she's too young. Either way, the less people the better, I just realized that my friends are 'a little odd'.
"Hey Kaito, do you know how to wear a jacket?" I asked my astronaut companion, who turned around to look at me, confused.
"Yeah I do, why do you ask?" Kaito answered nervously, something tells me he has no idea how to wear a jacket.
"You're wearing only one sleeve." I pointed out, causing Kaito to look at his left arm, which was covered by the sleeve.
"I have to agree with (Y/N), you never wore your other sleeve in all the time we've known you." Korekiyo backed me up whilst sitting like an over dramatic fashion model.
"Whatever!" Kaito huffed before turning things around. "By the way, I noticed Yoshino wasn't enrolled here, so what's the big deal with that?"
"Yoshino is 13 at most, so she's going to be enrolled in a different school that's not too far away from my place." I explained whilst putting away my phone. "Still, we can't keep all the spirits at my place, it's getting too crowded."
"Oh right, we forgot to tell you, an ally organization is helping us by building a mansion for us to live in." Rantaro jumped into the conversation. "They should be done by today, so I hope you packed."
"What do you mean by we?" I asked, curious as to what Rantaro meant.
"Hey, we work with you, so we'll also be living in the mansion with you!" Kaito said with a smirk, all of us living together...that includes Kaede too? "Plus we got tired of paying for rent."
"Way to show your true intentions." Korekiyo deadpanned as he sat in a different pose from earlier, when did he change his pose?
"You Shut your face!"
"Now settle down Kaito, we have a new student coming in!" Ms.Tamae announced to Kaito, who was currently balancing on his chair. "You may come in now."
Kaito sat back in his chair normally, allowing Ms.Tamae to beckon the new student into the classroom. She looked like a normal student, but her hair was far too unique for her to be an extra, so that means she's either she went to Hope's Peak with my friends or she's a main character. Either way, her left eye was barely covered by her hair, but I could tell was a fucking clock and her other eye was red.
"Would you like to introduce yourself?" Ms.Tamae asked the dark haired girl, and I turned my head to notice Korekiyo was on guard as well, so he merely tipped his hat my way to signal for me to keep quiet.
Before you ask, yes I set up a signal code with Korekiyo, he's one of my only friends with brain cells.
"No need, I'll introduce myself." The dark haired girl wrote a name on the chalkboard behind her. "My name is Kurumi Tokisaki, and I'm a spirit."
Of course, the entire classroom went silent upon this, and my friends suddenly went into panic mode. Korekiyo's eyes went pure white, Kurumi almost lost her posture, Ryoma fell out of his chair, Tenko got into a stance despite sitting down, Kaito straight up backed away, sparks appeared around Kiibo's head, Miu jumped out of her chair, Gonta put his bugs in his case, Origami looked 100% ready to kill, and Kaede went wide-eyed. Rantaro and Angie remained strangely calm, but I think that's because Rantaro is dead inside and Angie is optimistic 24/7. She scares me sometimes. Of course, the extras and Tohka seemed confused, both for completely different reasons.
"Well...what an interesting introduction." Ms.Tamae was smiling to hide the fact that she was also most likely dead inside, she's a teacher for gods' sake. "Someone needs to show you around, so let me pick someon-"
"No need, I already picked someone." Kurumi said confidently with her usual smile never fading, and she was eyeing me. "You."
"Gonta?" Gonta asked whilst pointing to himself, well, she could have been referring to my friend.
"Oh no, I was referring to your friend in front of you." Kurumi cleared up, yep, she was talking about me. "Sorry about that."
"It's okay." Gonta brushed off the incident like it was no problem before talking to me. "Remember (Y/N), be gentleman."
"I'll try, but you're the expert here." I joked before answering Kurumi. "Fine by me, let me know when you would like to begin."
"You sound like an NPC."
"Ryoma why must you hurt me this way?"
(Timeskip, brought to you by Ryoma accidentally knocking the camera over with a tennis ball, revealing the author and King sitting in directors' chairs)
I was currently showing Kurumi around the school, I started off with the cafeteria since it would be most relevant to her for food. I made sure I never left the sight of any of my friends, however, Kirumi managed to catch a glimpse of Kurumi's schedule and had at least one person go there in advance. Tenko was in the Japanese classroom, Angie was in the art classroom, Korekiyo was in the history classroom, Ryoma was outside, Kaito was in the science room, Kirumi was in the cafeteria, and Kaede was in the music room. Everyone else was supposedly with Kiibo on the roof, using the robot's tracking device to keep track of me, a genius plan indeed! One that was unfortunately made by my little sister, Kotori. Who suggeste I keep an eye on her
"So Kurumi, what school did you go to before coming here?" I decided to start a lighthearted conversation as I showed her around the school.
"Oh I've been to many schools before coming here, but this is my first one around here." Kurumi answered whilst also dodging my question.
"Of course she'd dodge the question like that, but nice try though." Kotori commented through my earpiece.
"This is one slippery girl, be careful about her (Y/N)." Rantaro ordered through the earpiece. "I may not be the most tech savvy guy around, but I'll try finding her."
"So none of us are going to mention the fact she has a clock for an eye?" Angie wondered, something tells me the others didn't notice this fact. "It was super obvious!"
"There's three people following us, (Y/N)." Kurmi closed the small gap between us before whispering into my ear, but who could be following us? "Don't focus on them, focus on me."
"Really sending a mixed message there, but okay." I decided to roll along with it, but I was curious as to who was following us. "By the way, I'm sorry I never introduced myself. The name's (Y/N) (L/N), I own a painting business if you're ever needing something painted."
"Oh I already know that, I saw an advertisement with your name and face on it." Kurumi informed me, which made me more suspicious because I don't use advertisements that much, so a newcomer seeing an ad by me is suspicious.
"That's good to hear." I played off my obvious suspicion, not that acting was my strong suit, but I'm trying to my best. "So what do you like to do for fun?"
"Oh I like to do the normal things a girl like me does when she's alone, think about boys and such." Kurumi was now just refusing to answer my question to change the subject to me. "So what about you? What do you like to do?"
"I'm a very 2d person, I like making works of art out of anything but painting is my favorite." I asked myself how much longer I'll keep up this act to make Kurumi happy.
"So you like making art, then maybe you can paint me some time~" Kurumi was now flirting with me, and I would have fallen for her, but I stayed up all night painting a painting of Yoshinon for Yoshino, so my brain wasn't working right now.
I was about to come up with some sort of BS excuse as to why I can't paint Kurumi, but a distraction came in the form of the storage closet opening behind us. Multiple items fell out of the closet, along with three familiar girls; Origami, Tohka, and Miu. They seemingly fell along with other janitorial supplies like a bucket, mop, and a broom. Kurumi and I were both confused by this, but the girl did say we were being followed, so I can't be too surprised.
"So...you girls often hide in storage closets?" I asked with my hands on my hips as the three girls stood up instantly. "No matter your answer, I would like to know why you girls were in there."
"You two are too close for school regulations, please back away from each other at least five meters." Origami ordered in her usual monotone voice whilst pointing at Kurumi.
"That's right!" Tohka's energetic personality was evident from her flailing arms pointing in all directions. "Please back away from (Y/N)!"
"Oh I was in there cause some small-breasted bitch is trying to steal my man!" Miu glared at Kurumi but I knew Miu wasn't going to do anything.
"Okay okay, you girls win." Kurumi stepped away from me, but her smile never faded, what is it that makes this girl so confident? "But I still need to cling to (Y/N) because I have anemia."
"Fucking what?" Kaito asked through the earpiece, something tells me he has no idea what anemia is.
"Anemia is a condition in which you lack enough healthy red blood cells to carry enough oxygen to tissues in the body." Korekiyo explained, since when did he become a doctor? "Having anemia can make you feel tired and weak."
"Thanks, even though I'm sure you got that from google." Kaito thanked the anthropologist whilst Kurumi suddenly started clinging to my arm out of the blue.
"That's funny, so do I." Origami obviously lied before clinging to my remaining arm like Kurumi was doing, followed by a jealous Tohka doing the same with my chest.
"Me too!" Tohka obviously had no idea what anemia was, evident from how much she was acting like she was weak.
"Do you girls even know what anemia is?!" Miu shouted in jealousy before clinging to me from behind. "But the great Miu Iruma will not lose to you!"
I was forced to try my best to keep standing even with the weight of four people clinging to me, which was harder than I'd like to admit. After a couple minutes of me desperately trying my best not to collapse from exhaustion, Origami was graceful enough to leave. Sure it was most likely thanks to her AST duties, but hey, less weight for me makes this a lot easier. Still, I pushed on to finish the tour to keep my word. When Kirumi saw me, she helped me out by prying Miu, but couldn't get Tohka off me, but Kirumi still did her best. After a while, I finally managed to finish the tour of the school for Kurumi, but something is still off about her.
Oh well, I'm too tired to deal with this shit.
(Scene change, brought to you by Kurumi walking out of the school)
(Author POV)
In the office of the city where our heroes were, was a detective wearing a black hat that covered his left eye. The office itself was dark, and the only source of light in the entire room was coming from the big window behind the young detective. He was currently working for his uncle, but he was doing such a good job, he could be mistaken for running the place himself. This boy was currently sitting at his desk, looking through a pile of papers, trying to piece his current case together. His current case was trying to pin down the murderer of several thugs, and even some families. The detective was rather young, being somewhere in his teenage years, yet there was a bottle of PTSD medication sitting next to the boy. The boy's expression was that of confusion, determination, and hidden despair. He was doing his best to solve this case because murders were his specialty, due to past experiences he can't seem to get over. On his desk was a picture, a picture containing many familiar faces.
"Hey Captain." A police officer walked into the office holding a file, and this police officer was slightly embarrassed to be calling someone younger than him 'captain'. "Another series of murders just occurred a couple hours ago."
"Again?" The young detective took the files that were offered to him, then he opened them to take a look at the papers and images. "The last kill was yesterday, when will this guy finally think enough is enough?"
"I don't know, Boss, all these victims were pretty bad people, so I think they're doing us a favor." The policeman commented, causing the head detective to glare at the officer. "What?"
"While you see scum that must be killed, I see people who are far more complicated than I can ever know." The young detective turned his swivel chair around to look out the window. "People being killed is not funny, no matter how bad the person could be, they deserve to work towards redemption without dying a pointless death. I don't believe everyone can achieve redemption, but I do believe that all people should do something."
"But these guys were just average thugs, nothing to worry about." The police officer brushed his captain's comment off like it was nothing. "Besides, they're dead now."
"Tell me, how would you feel if your son suddenly died for no good reason other than the fact that someone believed he doesn't have the right to live anymore." The detective tried hitting a soft spot, making the police officer pissed off.
"That will never happen to my little boy, he's too good of a soul!" The police officer slammed his hands on the desk, not doing anything to amuse the detective.
"Exactly, all people worry about those closest to them, so killing one person will make you hated by the other person, and the cycle continues." The detective further explained. "Killing people in general just makes things worse than what they could be if the other person just decided to work for redemption."
"You should know your place Captain!" The policeman left the room after slamming the front door open, revealing another pair of individuals.
One of the individuals appeared to be around the same age as the captain, but her cold glare showed that she has seen the horrors of what humanity is capable of. Her glare didn't lighten when she saw the sight of the pissed off policeman, but she did move her arm in front of her companion. Her companion appeared to be younger than the two, and had red hair and a witches' hat. The policeman angrily huffed off, leaving the three in an awkward silence. The detective noticed that the glaring female was holding a plastic bag, but he knew better than to talk out of line with her.
"Hey you two, sorry I won't be able to get back the apartment tonight." The Captain apologized nervously while the two girls walked in front of him. "You girls can eat dinner without me."
"I made dinner for all of us, Shuichi, so you're gonna eat it and deal with it." The glaring female placed the plastic bag onto the desk. "However, I have some news, Himiko apparently knows real magic."
"I told you guys magic was real!" Himiko said with a smug aura radiating off her. "I also saw something that you might wanna know about."
"Maki, Himiko, I appreciate you bringing dinner to me, but I'm working on a case right now." The newly dubbed Shuichi took off his hat to pinch his forehead. "I'm working on a cas-"
"I saw everyone of our old classmates were sitting in a classroom!" Himiko excitedly slammed her hands in Shuichi's desk, surprising the detective. "Everyone except Tsumugi that is, they were also with a plum haired girl, an emotionless girl, and some guy with paint on his uniform...Oh, and some of them were also chanting 'bee orgy'."
"Himiko, maybe it was just a hallucination." Shuichi guessed, not really knowing what the last three people represented. "We all experienced a lot of emotions together, so maybe it's time to just forget about it."
"That's what I thought too, but look at this news article I found while I was getting groceries." Maki supported Himiko by pulling out a newspaper, one that shows both you and Kiibo after you rescued Yoshino. "This is clearly the paint guy and Kiibo, along with some other girl. So I think it might be worth checking out at least."
"Okay then, let's head over there and investigate." Shuichi stood up from his chair and picked up his cap, before he left however, he took the time to look at his photograph and think to himself.
Ever since the fall of Hope's Peak, the three of them have been living together in an apartment provided by Shuichi's Uncle. Due to Maki's ultimate talent being assassination, it would have been a horrible idea for her to work, so Shuichi has been doing most of the work. Still, all three of them were haunted and miserable after the events of the Killing Game. They all missed their friends dearly, with Shuichi dealing with it the worst out of all three of them because he feels as though he failed them in a way. He couldn't protect them, but now he possibly had a chance to make things right with them.
"I just hope I won't let all of you down again." Shuichi gently placed the picture frame down at his desk before leaving with Maki and Himiko.
(A/N: Now I'm sure those of who who know what the fuck is going on in the danganronpa universe is asking yourself "Author, what the FUCK are you doing?! You're using the fabricated past!" Well the actual past for these characters is unknown, so I'm doing a combination of making shit up and basing things off the characters' fabricated past. As for the game's plot, yeah it happened, and to to that I propose a clue for you:
"In the war of Hope against Despair, Despair has won and Hope has died, but new player has entered the field. Redemption, and Redemption may not have the power to completely undue what Despair has done, but it can bring back Hope for most. So who will win, Redemption or Despair? Well when all the cards are together, the answer will be clear..."
