Le point de vue de Anhye
Anhye's POV
"Anhye, can you spend a day with me? Just the two of us."
Did I have a heart? Something jumped in my chest and I didn't think it was my heart because that was impossible. But his words made me fumble for a reply. My brain glitched for a moment. What was he planning to do?
"To do what?" I asked warily and grudgingly but something was stirring in my chest as the words rolled off my tongue.
He hummed, acting like he was thinking. "Well, how about doing things people do in everyday life? I want to spend the day in peace today."
"Peace?" I raised an eyebrow, not believing him. He simply smiled at me and we stared at each other for long before I caved in. "Fine. If you're doing that, I might as well, too. If my enemy's resting, why can't I?"
"That's the spirit," he cheered loudly, holding my shoulders which made me freeze in surprise. "People get paid leaves when working after all. Let's consider this ours."
His voice was devoid of anything mischievous, instead it was full of joy and... hope. It was always like that. So unbecoming of Wrath. So strange but I was already used to it. Strange but... nice to be with. Besides, what could he do that would get out of hand? For many years, we had stayed like this, never really changing, and always floating by the wind like clouds, greeting each other like neighbors.
When the sun rose, Hoseok was standing next to the diner's place he said he would be at. People passing by glanced at him when he waved at me with a grin, so I made myself visible as well and approached him with an unsure look.
"You wanted to have... breakfast together?" I asked and he stretched out an open hand for me to hold.
"That's how you start a day, right, Anhye?"
I grabbed his hand and he led me inside the diner. Some people turned their heads to look at us and it made me more conscious of his hand, heating up my cheeks. Hoseok didn't notice and walked straight to the cashier to ask for their popular menu.
"Eggs benedict, sir," the cashier said and he ordered that.
"I'll have the same." I touched my dress pocket to fish for money but Hoseok shook his hand at me.
"No, I'll pay. It was my idea."
He quickly gave the cashier some bucks while I stared at him dumbfounded. Did I just let my enemy pay for me? And he paid?
The rest of the breakfast, I stayed silent and watched him eat and chatter about the people walking around the street outside the window we were sitting next to. He was way too excited about having a simple breakfast at a diner. He laughed every minute or so and his eyes sparkled with glee.
"What about you?"
I snapped out of my daze. "Hm?"
"What do you like doing? Or rather, liked doing before?"
I blinked. "Oh... Well..." I pursed my lips as my life flashed before my eyes. It made me clench my dress material. "I don't know. Sightseeing, maybe? I didn't really have any hobbies."
"I see." He smiled softly and that thing stirred in my chest again. "You like looking at clouds? You're sometimes looking up at the sky."
He noticed that?
"Well," I chuckled awkwardly. "It's... It makes me calm. Clouds are fluffy and... quiet. I don't know what I'm saying..."
"The opposite of me, I see." He laughed softly. "I'll be less loud from now on. I'll be very quiet like I'm not even there."
Somehow, I didn't like that. Hoseok being quiet was like the sun not shining anymore. Wait, what was I thinking?
"You don't have to do that. Just be yourself. I li-" I bit my tongue, barely keeping my words inside my mouth. Was I serious? Heat rushed to my cheeks when his eyes were so focused on mine, waiting for me, and I clenched my dress tighter. "I mean- I... I li... little... Hey, why are we sitting here when we finished our breakfast?"
He blinked three times and looked down at our plates before breathing out a laugh. "Oh... Sorry, let's get out then? I want to watch a movie."
I frowned. "Huh?"
Several hours passed with him being more talkative than before if that was possible, and me realizing his handsomeness from up close and biting my tongue before saying something embarrassing that would haunt me until the end of time. I would have dropped dead already if I were human from all the tongue biting.
After a movie, he jumped over to a VR game, marveling at the technology. The kid next to him kept challenging him to a horror game before putting on the headgear. To save his pride, Hoseok accepted the challenge but just a few minutes into the game, he let out ear piercing screams and flailed around like a fish out of water. I busted my lungs laughing at him getting scared and beaten by a kid.
He hunched over after the game ended. "That was terrifying. I think my soul nearly left me."
I patted his back, laughing at him. "You are a soul, Hobi."
"Oh. Right." He sighed heavily.
"Ugh, why are you annoying me?!"
A girl kept yelling at her friend and I turned to them after failing to ignore them. The friend asked her what she did but got shoved to the wall very harshly, prompting a sharp gasp from her.
"Shut up! You're so annoying!"
I gulped before taking a step towards them, but got pulled back by my arm.
"There's a music festival. I wanna go." Hoseok smiled down at me.
"Wait. It won't be long-"
"Today, neither me nor you should use powers. It's for just one day. If you use your powers, I will use mine, too. Do you want that?"
I looked between him and the girls who were still arguing. It would be bad if he used powers, too, while we were both in truce for the day. But this would not take long if I used just a fraction of my powers.
"Besides, things will be better for you after this." He walked off.
I ran after him. "What does that mean?"
"You'll see."
When we arrived at the festival site, fireworks erupted and exploded in the night sky. People shouted in surprise and happiness around us. Every pop and explosion of colors made something leap inside my chest.
"Wow so pretty." He quickly turned to me with a hand on his mouth. "Oh, you hate loud things, right? Do you want to go to a quieter place?"
I smiled. "I'm okay. I'm fine with this loudness." In fact, I relished it. It was comforting and exciting at the same time. "I really like this."
"Really? That's a relief."
I turned to him. I held my breath watching him smile at the fireworks. His face lit up with joy and everything beautiful. It was mesmerizing. The time had stopped. Or I wanted it to stop. I liked being like this. I liked being with him. I never realized it.
Maybe it was better if I never had realized it.
This thing stirring in my chest with more intensity than before... I knew what it was.
Even though I hoped it wasn't that.
"Thank you for being with me," he said, smiling at me.
No, thank you for being with me.
