"Fuck, no!" Jungkook and I made slow eye contact, giving a vibe as if we were shooting a very dramatic scene.
Jaw clenched in efforts to hold in his anger, Taehyung asked in a deadly calm voice "May I know what you two were doing?" Ladies and gentleman, witness this extremely rare situation where an employee got fired within 24 hours of their first day at work.
"No," Jungkook replied a little too quickly. I have to compliment the courage of this kid. I didn't have it in me to look at Taehyung in his eyes and there he was, brave enough to answer his question without being blown into ashes under his fiery look. "I mean, nothing. We weren't at anything in specific."
It wasn't the first time when I got myself in a situation where the person talking to me was having a constant struggle to fight the urge of killing me. "I didn't send you here to do nothing, did I!? You won't be getting paid for chit-chatting!" I stood there with no other choice than quietly going through all this. "Jungkook, follow me. It would be good if you didn't tag along, Y/N." He emotionlessly said while grabbing Jungkook's wrist firmly and dragging him out by his sleeve. The last thing Jungkook did before being pulled out of the room was mouthing 'fuck my life' while glaring accusingly at me, and all I could do in return was mouth back an apology at him.
I could not stop rocking back and forth on my heels waiting for him to return. As hypocrite as it sounds, but all my desires to rest had legitimately committed suicide. After a couple of seemingly endless minutes, he came back, alive and unscratched, I must add. "What did he say? Was he very angry? I am so sorry about all this, It was never meant for him to catch us." He was squeezed under the weight of hundreds of questions I threw at him with the moment he set his foot inside the gym.
I show me I have reasons I should hate myself~~
"Let's just ignore the existence of this experience, moreover, you must be hungry, right? Let me bring you some food." He did sound down but after his wish of letting go, I didn't try forcing him. Without saying anything else, he walked out of the gym.
My hand dived in my right pocket to take out my phone. The last time I used it was on the plan earlier when the irritated staff asked me to switch my phone off and I had to abruptly end the call with Yumi without forewarning. I quite expected the notifications I saw as soon as I turned the device on.
30 missed calls.
41 messages all from one and only Yumi
I scrolled down through the ocean of messages to read the last few once.

God, please knock some sense into that stupid, idiotic head of hers. Why does her boss tolerate her? She had been texting me all the while when she was supposed to be working. If it were up to me, all of such employees would have been fired. I understand that she was worried for me but why is dumbness flowing throughout her body like blood.
My brain tried coming up with something savage to help the fellow brain of Yumi which was unfortunately dead when I saw a figure running towards the transparent glass door.
Being in a hurry, he missed the important step of pushing the door and ran straight into it. "Ouch!" Taehyung rubbed his head while pushing the doors. "Y/N, Taehee won't believe me when I say you're here and she won't stop crying over it either. You need to see her quickly."
"What a dumbfuc—I didn't mean it! Hey, stop glaring at me like that!" I shouted while sprinting backwards as he took a few steps forward. I looked down at my partially typed text message and then up at Taehyung's deathly gaze. "Give me a second. I need to type to my friend."
"Oh, for hell's sake! Taehee is far more important to me than your messages to someone and she is crying so you gotta come with me or else I'll..." He looked around nervously to think of something that would actually make me do his work. "...Else I'll pay you less."
"Ah fuck the two of you..." I mumbled underneath my breath. "Where in the holy heavens is that little bitc—your lovely daughter?" I asked him.
"Follow me." He replied before turning around to walk ahead of me. Meanwhile, my phone kept on tinging with notifications from Yumi.

My pace slowed down unknowingly when I tried typing a message to Yumi but Taehyung was quick to snatch my phone. "Taehee is crying and I'm worried. I hope that's enough information for you."
At that moment I nodded and switched off my phone again. Taehee obviously needed me more than Yumi did. I didn't want to imagine the trauma Taehee went through with her mother's unexplained disappearance and I had to be there for her because, before me, all she had was Taehyung who himself was broken.
All my blooming empathy towards both the father and his daughter evaporated the instant I opened Taehee's bedroom door, to find her playing with Yeontan and laughing at its tricks.
"Was Yeontan crying that you bought me here because Taehee is literally jumping around?" I said covering my anger with sarcasm.
That was when Taehee noticed my presence in the room and said happily, "Oh, looks like eomma missed her train to heaven!" Giggling, she dragged the poor dog towards me. I felt more sympathetic towards the dog instead.
"Yeontan, keep that bitc-sorry, Taehee, keep that dog away from me. I confused the names, lol." I almost yelled and skydived to the other side away from Yeontan.
"He's Yeontan, not some random dog." Taehee pinned me with her intimidating gaze. "Dada said that he's my brother so don't talk to him like this."
I felt a big urge to question the man standing at the doorway over what other interesting things he is teaching the kid.
What if Taehee grew to act as her father in the future..?
"You made me rush here for nothing and now my friend would be mad at me. I swear to haunt you for eternity if she kills me for ignoring her." I turned around and walked out to call Yumi leaving the happy family behind.
A few hours later...
The sun set down and we called it a day. Taehyung was too engrossed in some magazine but when he heard my footsteps, he hurriedly threw it away in a weird manner. It was as if I caught him doing something wrong. He started coughing distractedly but his foot slowly crept near the magazine lying on the floor to kick it under the bed. These suggested that he had been reading something nasty... "I was— Should I help you with setting the bed?"
"Isn't it set already?" I moved my hand above the bedsheets to feel the soft fabric.
This is exactly what I deserve.
"Um... Wouldn't it be like, ah, you know, you should sleep on the couch instead of sleeping with me on the bed?" He momentarily blushed but then looked away, lightly smacking his head. He was still quick to grab the pillows and blankets to create makeshift bed on the couch "Sleep on the couch tonight. We will surely find some alternative to this later. You must be tired and this isn't that bad." He bounced a little on his creation with the pillows and blanket to prove his point.
This is not what I deserve...
"Then why don't you go ahead and sleep here?" I muttered underneath my breath. Sleepiness took the best of me and left me in no shape to continue the petty fight so I concluded with: "I prefer sleeping over arguing."
"It was sort of impossible for you to win it already." He bent down to pick the mysterious magazine from underneath the bed while overestimating himself.
"You'll see what's possible for me and what's not with time, Mr. Kim." I skipped the important step cross-checking my thoughts and straight off spoke out words. As for Taehyung, he smirked at me while mouthing 'goodnight' and closing his eyes.
