8| Life's Shit

"You missed the Y before O-U-R, right?" I did hear him well but my high key dependency on the possibilities that he made a mistake made me say the aforementioned sentence. I was no way in the hell sleeping in the same room as a guy I barely know.

"I don't make typos while speaking." He rolled his eyes towards the end of his sentence which was not at all a kind gesture. "We have to sleep in the same room as a healthy couple would if you're pretending to be my wife. We don't want any flaws in our act. Can't trust the walls either."

"But you...you...can't roll your eyes at me." I sad lowly and he casually ignored me while walking ahead. I grudgingly followed him while muttering some inaudible curses. "Holy guacamole!" I exclaimed in a breathy voice as my eyes scanned the room.

It was a perfect competition to hotel suites and I mentally declared it the best part of the house. I no longer mind sharing room with Kim Taehyung.

The low laying, king-sized bed was the centre of attraction for me. The satin sheets stretched over the bed without a single crease. On either side of the bed were the night lamps that screamed chique in unison. The wooden floor compiled with the pastel brown colour scheme of the walls proved to be a masterpiece.

The room was spacious like the other parts of the house with a minimalistic share of furniture and other showpieces. My eyes wandered the direction of a small passage that led to a door. The passage was walled by sliding doors which then opened up to walk-in closets. "These are the closets. You can use this one as the other one is mine and that door there opens to the washroom." He didn't look any lesser than an air hostess while teaching me about the doors.

"I get it," I replied as I observed the closet which was big enough to fit me in.

If Taehyung and I ever have a fight in future then I will come to sleep here.

"So that's enough house touring for today." Finally, it's the time when I hit the bed and sleep— "I think you two should continue with the training now."

The proceeding events happened in fast forward and I got no time to deny or even say anything. "Yeah, let's get it, Y/N." Jungkook held my wrist and started dragging me away. I followed him— or was rather compelled to do so. I did try stopping him but that hulk of a man was too determined to yank me to the gym.

"I don't have these legs as showpieces. I know when and how to use them so, Jungkook, try getting past your habit of dragging me." I spit out each word individually to make my point clear. He half-heard me as he walked over to the switchboard to turn on every light while I made myself comfortable on the semi-wooden floor. "Aren't you tired? Let's just ditch today's session."

He squatted down in front of me, clearly tired and replied: "Remind me as to why I am doing this again." He sighed doing some mental calculation- probably about our chances of getting caught. "Whatever... Introduce yourself. What did you use to do before we met?"

"Um...nothing." I looked away. Yeah, that's what I used to do, nothing, but do sleeping count though?

"Oh, really? How can someone do nothing at all? Tell me something about your... um, say, love life? Did you ever have a boyfriend?" I stared at him for a while in hopes that he would realize that the question was a quite personal one but he didn't.

"You talking about a boyfriend? I had a failed marriage. Long story, Kook, don't waste your time on this." I laughed out a peal of empty laughter.

"Wait, so you're saying you're divorced?" He asked unknowingly being judgmental. "I didn't mean it in that way, I'm s-sorry. Now just tell me everything about it. You can't leave me on a cliffhanger—"

"Okay, shut up. I hope you don't mind if I start crying in between." I frowned when the male stood up and marched outside. That was rude, Jungkook. I expected you to get bored soon but didn't expect that to happen so soon. I sat there dumbfounded, not knowing how to react. Hello, darkness, my old friend. Long time no see.

He returned with two small boxes. "We have loads of tissue papers with us." He was prepared for the waterfalls that were about to follow, so I started without wasting time. "Ready, set and begin."

"His name was Kim Seokjin. He was always that one guy every girl swooned over but somehow he fell for me. After dating for two years, we decided to get married. Like he wasn't quite happy with it but I didn't want to live with the fear of losing him. He was dangerously handsome. You know, if he's married then he would attract fewer women. I just hated the way girls stared at him as if he was a whole snack. I mean he was—" I stopped abruptly, realizing what was leaving my mouth.

Jungkook raised his right eyebrow at me whilst giving a disgusted look. "Yeah, a wHoLe SnAcK."

"And one of the reasons why I wanted to marry him was... I was pregnant with... his child." I said being hesitant. "He agreed to be my man for the rest of his life. It would've been better if he abandoned us rather..." Holding back tears became difficult when it came to this part of the story.

"Hey, Y/N, don't cry!" He said, tossing the tissue paper box to me. "Till now he seems to be good guy..?"

"Yeah, yeah. He was too good for my liking that's why I dumped him." I rolled my eyes, scoffing. "I remember going to the hospital after being nauseated and dizzy for a whole damn week. Like he really believed that I was suffering for a whole week just because I ate something bad." I acted like I forgot what happened after that but he was quick to catch me. The truth was, no matter what I do, the memories never leave me alone. "The doctor said, boom! You're pregnant! I remember celebrating that night. He stopped going for work to be by my side every time. He was so caring and I wish I could bring back that Jin."

"Not being judgmental, but... you had a baby with Jin? Where's the kid now? Is it with Jin?" Jungkook asked.

"Baby, it was the root of every problem. After six months of carrying it around with me in my big round belly, I tripped over something and fell." I casually stated as if it wasn't a big thing when on the inside, I was a wrecking havoc of tears of frustration. The rain that night perfectly mirrored my emotions. "Jin was scared. He almost fainted but my loud cries kept him awake. He ran all the way from our home to the nearby hospital carrying me in his arms. When I woke up, Jin told me that I had a miscarriage. Our baby d-died."

I subtly smiled as if I was narrating a fairytale "Y/N, stop pretending to be so strong when you aren't. I hate it when Tae—anyone does that." Jungkook held my shoulders and shook me a little but it just made me laugh.

My heart sank into the pit of my stomach. I hated my brain for flashing the images of that night. "After the miscarriage, the him, who always had my back, disappeared. He started staying out more and it was actually better than having him at home. All we did was fighting all day. He blamed me for being so clumsy when he was supposed to say it's alright as long as we are together. Don't know why, but I remained silent when he became abusive. Looking back at that time, I think I should've rather punched the living daylights out of him than saying sorry for no reason. Slowly everything went quiet as if nothing ever happened but it was just the silence before the storm. Everything came to an end the day I caught him cheating. He b-betrayed me."

Jungkook immediately extended his hand to pat my back. "Please don't cry, Y/N." He pulled out some tissues to wipe off a lone tear escaping his eyes.

"Why would I cry? To be honest that bitch of a man never deserved me in the first place." I sassily smirked before a stubborn tear proved that I was just faking it, that it actually hurts. "Stop chopping onions!" I yelled at him who just laughed at me. "So you gotta promise me something now. All of this remains between a coconut and a beautiful lady, that is, you and I. Promise?"

"Heavens yeah!" He said intertwining our pinkies together and touching his thumb with mine. "Promise! Now, it's your turn. Ask me anything."

I rummaged through the back of my head for any questions I had but my brain came up with the same question again and again. "What's your last name?"

"Seriously? That's all you have to ask..?" He questioned with uncertain disappointment. "It's Jeon though." He officially invited awkward silence after his reply as we had nothing more to talk about. Well, until he opened his mouth again. "Honestly, I high key expected you to ask me about Minhee."

"That's a nice question there. Do you play 20 questions a lot?" I asked an illogical question to which he rather rolled his eyes. "That was random but whatever, I'll ask that question now. How did... Minhee die?"

"If Taehyung hears us, then be mentally prepared for going to heaven or in our case, hell." Jungkook took a good turn, keeping a keen eye for Taehyung. We should put a sign 'Kim Taehyung not allowed' but fortunately, we didn't have to do that as he wasn't around. "So Minhee wa—"

But a certain deep voice from behind us cut him off even before he could start. "Jungkook?!"

A/N:- Hey readers!
While describing Taehyung's house, I had the house in the movie 'parasite' as inspiration. If you have watched the movie (10/10 recommendation) then imagine it or else you can google it or just not give two shits about it. It's completely up to you. Stay healthy and happy!
