16| Caught In A Lie
"Taehee—stop. Don't speak!" I frantically asked the girl to shut up before I could meet the same fate as her real mother. Though, the cause of death would be a heart attack.
"Hey, some lady, please stop shaking. You're scaring me... It's as if you touched an electric wire with wet, bare hands." She held my hands in her small ones with a disgusted look while trying to stop my little seizure.
"Look, Taehee, I'm not s-some l-lady, I'm your e-eomma. Got it?" I miserably failed in weaving a lie without stuttering and the kid was too determined to not believe me. Not going great, Y/N.
"You think I don't know anything because according to you, I'm a small chicken-sized kid." As soon as she pronounced the adjective I dedicated to her unknowingly days ago, she broke into sobs.
"Is it all because of it?" I asked with 'you gotta be kidding me' written across my face. "Hey, you aren't small chicken-sized. You're a giant giraffe, happy?" I rolled my eyes when she cried harder at the unusual and sarcastic praise.
"I think I need some alone time, lady." She glanced at me with a stoic expression while I cringed at the way she acknowledged me.
I felt better when I escaped the environment she created. No matter how stupid I was as a kid, my mum would still feel privileged to have me if she met Kim Taehee.
I quickly ran to my room before she could change her mind and desire for my company again. On opening the door, I saw the same man lying on the same spot where I left him. The difference was, he was asleep now.
I walked over to him with a sigh and budged him with my foot. "Get your ass off the floor if you don't want to have backaches tomorrow." I shoved my hands in my pockets and when he didn't move, I budged him harder.
He stirred through his sound sleep and tucked at my foot. The world around me turned upside as I was thrown to the floor and landed right upon Taehyung in a weird stance.
My knees hit against his chest in a painfully hard motion which made the guy wake from his deepest sleep. "What the fuck!?" He groaned pressing his hand against the affected area. He was lucky to not have fractured ribs after the incident.
"That was my foot, dumbass, not a fucking doorknob. Why did you pull it!?" I questioned while helping myself off him and kicking his hand away when he asked for help.
"Why can't you act human-like for once?" Taehee surely got her habit of giving disgusted look from her dad as he had the same habit.
I decided to not reply to that because according to me, I was quite human-like every time. I gave in to the darkness and slept instead.
The next morning...
I woke up to the sound of my alarm clock at my usual timings. Joining Jungkook at the gym was a part of my morning chores and I preferred to stick to the routine.
I made my way through the hallways to the glass doors of the gym. The same smell, I got so used to but never stopped grimacing at, greeted me along with Jungkook. "Morning! So how was your big night? How did it go? I almost couldn't sleep and I really wanted to spy on you but that would have been rude so I sent Taehee to do that."
"You sent Taehee..?" I asked with utter disbelief and dark circles under my eyes. He couldn't get the hint and still chose to act quite proud.
"I knew it would be a great idea! She's quite dramatic. You know, like father like daughter." He giggled doing a funny hand gesture with his words.
"It was the best idea, Kook." I cracked my knucklebones while gesturing him to come closer so that I could punch him. "Because of you, she fucking thinks I'm not her mother!" I yelled.
At the same moment, the door opened and we froze at the possibilities of getting caught until we looked behind us to see that the uninvited guest was Taehyung. "What?"
"Look who's here!? Kim Taehyung-ah, you sobered up? Did you have a nice sleep?" I asked in a clearly made-up sweet tone which confused him but he didn't get the sarcasm.
"Yes, I did but... I have minor aches here and there." He took a step back when I took one in his direction while Jungkook tried to wrap his head around our family drama.
"Aches? Where? Want me to give you a massage?" I held a fist in front of his face and he gulped at my sudden violent threats.
"Well, you can't because..." He scratched the back of his neck while looking away. "...the pain is somewhere I can not mention publically."
Jungkook pushed me back by my shoulder and approached Taehyung with sympathy. "How did it happen, bro?"
Taehyung followed Junglook's glance and looked down too. "I don't quite remember, bro, but it's like—"
"Ahahahah!" I shouted before he could describe his problems openly. "I kicked him last night," I confessed.
Taehyung gasped and felt hurt. "I'll talk to her for you, bro." Jungkook placed a hand on his chest and walked towards me. "Hey, Y/N, just for your knowledge, kicking someone there can hurt too much and have unreproductive results. You can't just go around kicking men."
"By now, you should have learned not to test waters with me." I stomped my foot on the floor and he quickly backed off like a scaredy-cat. "Your friend was being abusive and I simply did what I couldn't do with Jin back then."
"The hell, Taehyung?!" Jungkook extended his hands to grab Taehyung's collar but before he could do anything, the latter slightly pointed towards me. Jungkook stepped back still glaring at him as though he was some criminal.
Taehyung focused on me again acting like none of it happened at all. "Is it true?" I nodded. "What would she think of me now!?" He cupped his face panicking.
"Well, don't know about you, but for me, she's quite convinced that I'm not her real mother because apparently, she saw me kicking you and then you asked her to run for life." I narrated but the two males had no physical reaction until Taehyung's jumped in front of Jungkook.
"Now, go, grab her collar, bloody sexist." Taehyung raised his voice for the male version of feminism and Jungkook was intimidated by formers strong point.
"So, I was saying..." Jungkook cleared his throat and Taehyung finally concluded his one-sided staring competition. "She thinks you're not her real mother because she saw you touching him, right?"
"Touching!? She fucking kicked me in the balls! Do you know how hard it is for me to stand here right now?" Taehyung expressed his pain through his tiny body wriggles which looked cute from my angle.
"Taehyung, she has kicked me too so I understand. Y/N, note for you: it ain't no football. Back to the topic," Jungkook pushed Taehyung to the side to maintain eye contact with me. "So we should simply show a better side of love and wish for Taehee to fall for it. In simple words, you both should act lovey-dovey in front of her."
"Fuck o—" I started to speak but Taehyung popped up again to cut me.
"Anything for Taehee, right, Y/N?" He made his brows dance in a weirdly funny way.
"He's still drunk." I pointed at him when he started doing a famous girl group's dance routine. "Mr Jeon Jungkook, please give some specific guidelines for our yet-another-fake-act. What should we do to lure her?"
"Anything." Jungkook shrugged his shoulders. "A kiss will work."
