10| Lost My Way

The sound of the alarm made me flinch in sudden fear. Just to take a revenge, I tried to shoot it down to the floor but the spooky thing went off again after a span of a few seconds.

My phone was too determined to do the task allotted to it. The almost impossible task of waking me up in early morning hours.

Finally deciding to give in to its loud cries, I tossed around preparing to take off. Just when I faced the other side, the gravity called me down for a morning hug and I fell headfirst on the floor.

Could there be any better way to start a day?

As per Jeon Jungkook's orders, I had to be in the gym by 8 am no matter what and the clock displayed 7:30. I woke up before time. That's an achievement!

The brunette who slept in the same room as me left without leaving any traces behind. Except for the mysterious magazine.

With a smug smile, my feet carried me towards something which could be Taehyung's secret or maybe his guilty pleasure.

The cover page was rather brightly coloured and it was hard to interpret the characters through blurry vision (courtesy of waking up just moments ago). I could see animals which looked somewhat like an animated elephant and giraffe.

"Best... uh... Best bedtime? Best bedtime stories?!"

Kim Taehyung, the owner of purple productions, reads bedtime stories before sleeping.

I kept the book down and after remaining shocked for a few seconds, I sprawled down on the bed not to sleep but because I feared falling while laughing.

10 minutes later...

After taking a shower and changing into gym wears, I tied my shoelaces and walked out to meet Jungkook.

I would lose $1 to him if I didn't make it before 8 am!

I glanced at my phone screen that flashed the time while walking through the hallways but I couldn't seem to remember the way to the gym. Navigation was never my thing but I was disappointed in myself especially after knowing that we wasted an hour yesterday to avoid the situation I got myself into.

Impossible. It was impossible to not cry over my carelessness and it was impossible indeed to find the way without calling Taehyung as he was my only resort.

I gulped while I pressed the phone against my ear. My brain suddenly flashed the pictures of the magazine I saw earlier that morning when I heard his deep voice. "So... bedtime stories, huh?" I mockingly laughed.

"How!? I forgot to hide it! Hey, wait, if that's your only reason to call me then end it already. I'm busy right now." I heard an elderly voice call out his name in the background and he responded to them with an 'excuse me' before focusing on the call again. "Quick, Y/N!"

"Okay, so the thing is, I lost my way~" I tried to joke all in attempts of avoiding his rage. "I can't find my way to the gym. Mind guiding me?"

"I'm too busy for this stuff and anyways, were you sleeping yesterday when we were showing you around!?" He shouted from the other end of the line.

"Just guide me to the gym already." I was so tired and rather than helping me get over with, he was wasting my time yelling.

"Yeah, yeah. Where are you right now? What do you exactly see around you?" I heard his footsteps from the other end and proposed that he was running away from humans around him.

"Some trophies and certificates." I almost ignored the crunch time under the lustre of the golden trophies. Some bronze and silver medals hung from the edges but the centre-stage was taken over by gold. Some news articles that conveyed his success were framed and hung against the off-white wall.

"Just follow my instructions. Walk straight towards the left side of the shelves." He instructed and I quietly obeyed. "Now do you see a gate and areca palm?"

"No, there's no lady here," I spoke in the phone and turned on my balls to head to another direction. "And even if there was, how would I know she's Areca palm or not? Stupid guy." I mumbled underneath my breath.

"Y/N," He paused and I stopped moving momentarily too. "Areca palms are a type of indoor plants." He said before bursting into fits of laughter.

"Uh..." I had nothing to say because I turned red with embarrassment he put me through. "Huh, it's still better than being 26 years old and reading bedtime stories before sleeping." That worked well and he stopped laughing.

"Whatever. Just pull the door surrounded by the plants named Areca palm." He again mocked me but I rather ignored him.

I struggled with opening the doors but it was as hard as getting a job for me. "Taehyung, this gate isn't opening?"

"Use some force." He suggested but then I realised I was pushing it all the time. Always been confused with push and pull.

The door opened and my eyes were pleased to see a beautiful pool. "Do you see a pool? That's the back door for gym, we didn't bring you to this part of the house yesterday, I guess?"

"See, it wasn't my mistake!" I slightly scolded him and concentrated on showing up before 8. I still had...a minute left, fuck.

"A word of thank you would be g—" he started but I didn't let him finish. I ended the call.

I walked towards the gym but my legs froze right at the moment when I caught a glimpse of Jungkook exercising. His face was glistening with sweat but without giving a care about it, he continued pushing himself up and down.

I made a beeline towards the gym without getting noticed as he looked in some other direction. I could predict the faint sound of his breathy counting over the bass boasted music.

Hair tied in a man bun, he stood up straight from his push up stance and took his shirt off. He walked towards the mirror with an 'I'm sexy and I know it' attitude and glanced down at his developing abs.

Why did I get goosebumps?

With my mind so distracted by him, the glass wall between our physiques went unnoticed and my head banged against it. Still glad that it didn't get cracked because of my hard skull. "Ouch!" I winced.

Jungkook finally noticed me and wore his shirt back, clearly not wanting to be shirtless in front of me.

He paised the music and rushed over to open the door for me. An awful smell invaded my nostrils which was a mixture of sweat and strong manly cologne.

"You're late." Yup, because I spent last minute staring at you. Much to my surprise, he didn't mock me, call me noona or ask for the betting money. He continued wiping his face with a towel that cancelled most of our eye contact.

"I got lost. Then I had to call Taehyung to guide me to the gym." His ears did perk up at the mention of Taehyung but he still didn't show any outward emotions. He quietly directed me to the treadmill and turned the appliance on at the lowest speed. "Hey, what's up with you? My natural pace is faster than this."

"This is for speeding up." He pointed at a particular option with a plus sign on it. "Use it accordingly." Even before I could cross-question him, he left the room.

45 minutes later...

Jungkook had returned after 15 minutes of leaving me alone. Probably because he feared that I might drop some weight on my chest and die with a sudden impact.

He did look drained but I got no chance to question him because he kept himself occupied in some heavy weight lifting while I stuck to yoga after few attempts of copying him.

"Hey, kook, still sad about yesterday? Just let it go as I did. I mean, everyone can't be as smart as me but you know, you can always take inspiration from me and learn good habits." I flipped my greasy hair and instantly cringed at the dampness of it.

"There's more to yesterday's events than what you know and... I'm genuinely sorry about it." His voice was barely more than a mere whisper. I moved forward to pat his back and he flinched at the touch before choking out words. "I d-didn't mean to hurt you..."

Jungkook's PoV

I don't know how to tell her that I have betrayed her, that I have been another man in her life who is not trustworthy...
