Missing
A/n: Filler :)
The coast of Busan seaport smelt like a mix of grease and oncoming rain. A low night breeze traveling from the East sea ruffled the waters into a tempestuous bout, the noise causing a certain orange haired boy to wake up with a start.
Jimin sat up, eyes wide as he glanced around to make sense of his surroundings. His head felt heavy and vision weak, but he could still make out the port and the dock area open for visitors.
So he had fallen asleep there. But he was... alone?
"Tae-hyung?" Jimin coughed out, feeling the god-awful aftertaste of the rum he had had earlier. He knew alcohol tasted bad, but since when was it so bitter?
Slowly he stood up, straightening out his disheveled clothing, his bestie's purple galaxy saddlebag still hanging around his neck and began looking around for his friend. "Hey, Taehyung! It's getting late. I think we should head back to the parking now."
Silence.
"Tae?"
Jimin furrowed his brows, noticing how most of the other visitors were gone by now and the place looked emptier than usual. There were still some people, who most likely belonged here or came for some work instead of just visiting. He heard a low rumble for the sky above and quickly checked his watch.
Quarter past eleven.
He was out for that long?
The first thing that came to his mind was to call Taehyung, but then the thought quickly proved futile because he was the one holding onto Taehyung's purse with his new Iphone 12 still lying snugg-ly in it's compartments.
Jimin looked up and around again, taking a few directionless steps here and there before his skin began to crawl, worry beginning to set in.
"Tae! Where are you?! Its not the time for pranks for God's sake!" Jimin called out loudly, spinning on his heels to check everywhere his small hazy eyes could travelled to.
"Fuck! This boy--" the orange haired cursed and walked straight ahead in a random direction, the one that led him to the small inn they had got their drinks from.
He entered the inn with a small 'ching' resounding at the door and quickly searched the place with his eyes. The inn looked normal, nothing out of the ordinary but still no Taehyung. He made his way to the pub counter and quickly pulled out his phone to show to the poker faced bartender on the other side.
"Hey, have you seen him?" Jimin questioned, voice coming out all muffled from behind his safety mask.
The bartender looked at the picture on his screen and then at the boy, clearly annoyed.
"Yeah."
"Really?" Jimin brightened up,"where?"
"On the TV bitch! I don't look like i have enough money for a concert now, do i?" The bartender spat, aggressively snatching up a tray of used tumblers and spilt alcohol from the tabletop before walking away inside the kitchen.
Jimin sighed, slapping his own forehead. Ofcourse. Taehyung was disguised. Nobody would've recognized him from his regular inexpensive clothes or mask. But that just made finding him a lot more difficult!
Now he was beginning to really worry. Where the hell did this stupid pabo decide to run off to? Why couldn't he just stay still in one place instead of running around the place like a god damn tiger beetle?
A sudden noise caught his attention and he looked back at the farside of the inn, where a few men were engaged in some heated argument. Jimin's anxiety spiked when one of the men lifted an empty bottle of liquor and threatened to smash it on some other guy's head.
"Ah... don't mind them." Jimin turned his head to look at the bartender who had returned to his spot across the counter, looking less aggressive."It's a regular thing here. They work for the lower posts in the ships and all they want is cheap liquor."
Jimin nodded briefly but the anxious feeling didn't go away. He glanced back at the men and somehow felt as if Taehyung could've been here... maybe gotten involved in one of these brawls? Only the thought of It's subsequent danger made him shiver on his spot.
"Uhm, can i ask you something?" The boy said, directing towards the bartender who nodded back, busy setting up the glasses.
"Do you have CCTV cameras here?"
"Nope!" The bartender shook his head with a shrug,"Don't have as much finance on me to install 'em. Why though? Are you spying on someone?"
Jimin shook his head and stepped away from the counter, ignoring the way his tummy just sank further. Now he was beginning to think what if Taehyung got lost in this crowd? How was he going to look for him now?
Just as if on que his phone rang, the part American idol losing some more color from his face when he noticed who the caller was. He slid the green icon nevertheless, and shakily held the device to his ear.
"N-namjoon hyung?"
"Hello, Jimin. Where's Taehyung?" That was the first thing the older man asked and Jimin grimaced.
"Well uhm-- w-where are you guys?" He asked instead, looking around the inn one last time in hopes that the blond magically appears in front of him, atleast before he ran out of time and excuses.
"What do you mean where we are?" This time it was a different voice, someone akin to Taehyung's manager's who probably snatched the phone from its previous caller, "we're waiting at the parking since the past one hour because you asked us to stay out here and give you both some space. Did you perhaps forget we were waiting Jimin?"
"No-- Jin hyung, ofcourse i remember that... just didn't think you'd all be here so soon." the orange haired smiled nervously, feeling a few sweat beads trickle down his forehead. So the whole staff was here?
"And?" Seokjin urged,"Where's Taehyung? I have been calling him for the past few minutes but he doesn't pick up. Get him and come away to the parking lots-- it's going to rain and i can't have you both sick now."
"... a-about that--" the boy bit his lip, feeling his heart race in anxiety and fear.
"I can't find him." He said quietly.
"What?"
Jimin exhaled a shaky breath and gulped, feeling tears clogging his throat.
"I can't find Taehyung, hyung. He's missing."

Loud sirens rang through the Busan seaport, disrupting it's characteristic hubbub with an uncharacteristic chaos.
Search helicopters hovered all over both land and sea, flashing their blinding white beams over the surfy waters and busy docks alike. Even the lighthouse authority was informed about the search mission, who quickly deported a few rescue boats into the nearby waters and the surrounding area.
On the land, it was the coast guards and Busan police force, both working together to search up the entire harbor piece by piece. The whole port was sealed down for the night and the following day as well, on special orders from the senate of Busan who acted quickly on the news of Kim Taehyung going missing from the state international seaport.
Just outside the harbor's now restricted entrance, media and journalists went haywire over the sudden announcement, the crowd growing from ten to hundreds in a few minutes.
Everyone was in shock, disbelief, denial-- the news flashing as main headlines of all news channels across the nation.
Although, the scene aside from the crowd and within the safe confines of the port's head office, couldn't be said as something very different.
The CEO of Bighit sat across the head of Busan Port Authority, both looking absolutely distraught in their own ways and reasons.
"Namjoon-ah," Mr. Bang started, rubbing his temples slowly," We have to explain to them what happened."
The said man looked up, a clear line of frustration and hurt painted across his handsome face, but nodded along nevertheless.
"Kim Taehyung was visiting the Busan port on Thursday, 2nd of September. He was disguised to form a part of the crowd as he liked to do since when he was a teenager and started a career in singing. He was accompanied by... a friend of his." Namjoon turned his head to glance at Jimin who was now seated on a chair near the cabin door, bawling his eyes out.
"And then?" The port head questioned, also glancing over at the other ridiculously famous idol of the country sitting right in the same room as him, while the other one just went missing from his port. Its always funny how things worked.
"And then, like Jimin states, they had a few drinks from a local inn near the south east section before Jimin lost his consciousness. He says when we woke up Taehyung was gone." Namjoon completed solemnly, looking like he was trying really hard to keep his shit together.
The port head hummed and asked his assistant to write up a statement on his behalf that would soon be submitted to the police for investigation. Then he turned to look at the group of men sitting in his cabin, feeling a wave of sympathy at their distressed condition, especially that of the old CEO.
"Mr. Bang? Do you need something?" He asked but the other shook his head warily. The old man looked up and his eyes shined with a layer of exhaustion, lips downturned in sorrow. No one who had ever known of Mr. Bang shi hyuk, had ever seen him like that-- absolutely defeated.
"Please ask your men to look in the waters carefully... if Taehyung fell in there. He d-doesn't know swimming--" Mr. Bang stopped himself as his voice broke and instantly gained support from Namjoon who put a hand on his shoulder to stop the man from crying.
Seokjin was seated beside Jimin, trying to console the former but strangely calm himself. He heard those words and stood up.
"No! Taehyung would never go anywhere close to the waters. He's afraid of both seas and darkness, so im pretty sure he wouldn't. I dont think it's an accident."
"Then what do you suspect? Mr. Kim?" One of the other men in the room, a ground investigator of police, questioned him."Do you think he lost his way then?"
Seokjin considered that but then shook his head, walking up to the head's desk.
"If he were, i think we would have found him by now. The port isn't all too big and... well Taehyung isn't some kid to get lost in here. He seems to know this place well because it isn't the first time he visited."
Namjoon nodded, also agreeing to the older's statement.
"He's right, Taehyung isn't dumb to get lost on his own. He'd also memorized each of our numbers in case he loses his phone somewhere. If Taehyung was lost he could've just called us." Namjoon pointed out, making the other men frown.
"Then... what else are you implying, Mr. Kim?" The ground investigator asked carefully, raising a brow as Namjoon exchanged a knowing and fearful glance with the missing idol's person manager, Seokjin.
"We think Taehyung's been kidnapped, officer."
