Chapter 9: Potential Crush

RYAN'S POV:

My phone blings as it gets a notification. It was from Sophie. A smile immediately spreads across my face-

My, my such a gentleman. :)

I internally laugh at her sass and text back-

Always a gentleman for a gentlelady.

Though you don't really strike me as gentle kind. :}

Since the day I had seen her at the library I wasn't able to get my mind off her. There was something about the way she smiled that appealed me a lot. We had coincidentally and luckily met again at the park bench when we officially introduced ourselves. It got my mind off the drama my dad had created.

I had a sister. A twin sister to be exact and I hadn't known about it until that morning. I had stormed out of the house and came to the park for fresh air, where I met her.

I forgot to ask for her number that day because she was in hurry. But it seemed like Destiny wasn't ready to give up. 'Cause we met yet again at Starbucks. She had looked so gorgeous in her off-shoulder top and skinny jeans. I couldn't help but notice that she hardly wore any makeup. Unlike some girls, who caked their faces in it.

This time though I hadn't forgotten to take her number.

Talking to her seemed to calm my buzzing mind. Even now Mum and Pops were at the Sanderson's, to get my sister home. I had done everything that came to my mind to make her room feel homely as possible. Mom had informed that she even liked books, so I bought two copies of the books on the list that Sophie had given me.

They were originally for my cousin Rose, as her birthday was coming up. I had always wanted a sister of my own. And I did have one. I just didn't know about it. Simple right? Wrong.

The fact that my twin siter was hidden from me hurts me like hell. Now I understood the fact as to why I felt so lonely and weird, because an important part of my life was missing.

Sophie had somehow made that weird loneliness disappear. In a few meetings only I felt so connected to her like I have known her my whole life.

Agree or not I might be developing a crush on her.

I jump as the bell rings. And run downstairs to get it. I straighten myself and put on a smile before opening the door. I was happy and nervous because I was going to meet my twin. I wanted her to feel welcome.

As I open the door, I see Mum and Pops standing with-

SOPHIE?!

The smile was quickly vanished and my mouth lay hanging.

What is she doing over here? But before I could ask; Pops introduces her-

"Lacey, meet you twin brother, Ryan"

Lacey!

Sophie is my twin.

What the heck.

She seemed just as shocked as me. After what felt like an eternity Mum takes her inside. And just at that moment, a fly thought it would be good to enter my mouth.

I close my mouth in distaste and spit on the grass. Yuck!

Isn't this great. The girl who I felt so connected to and was developing a potential crush for turns out to be my long-lost twin. This just screams AWKWARD.

Once inside Mum commands me to show her around the house. I glare and scoff at her and drag Lacey by her arm. I was still so mad at them, whatever the reason how could they keep me from my twin. They may have got back their daughter but now they definitely lost their son.

She was still dumbstruck because she didn't realize that we I was dragging her. By time the time she regained her senses we were in the pool area. She was shocked at seeing her surroundings. Her mouth hung open and I couldn't help but shut it-

"Close your mouth. Flies don't taste good. Trust me.", I say recalling the disgusting taste that still lingered in my mouth.

She looks at me and seems to have got back all her senses because a string of not-so-appropriate words left her pretty little mouth.

I shake my head and direct her towards and deck chair. She plops on it, sighs and puts a stray hair behind her ear.

I could see the similarities between us. Her eyes, her nose and other facial feature were similar to mine. Her smile had the same warmth as Pops'. Mum says that me and Pops are lookalike of each other. Now I guess we have a new team member. She really does look like a female version of Pops.

Before I could spark a convo, my phone started ringing. It flashed Zack. I excused myself and picked up his call.
