Chapter 23
Third Person POV
Chao noticed that Mark was already a little buzzed.
"Look, why don't you leave your car here and I'll drive you back here tomorrow to pick it up," Chao suggested to Mark, "you don't wanna risk driving while you're buzzed."
"I guess that's a good idea, P'Chao," Mark agreed, holding on to Chao's elbow as Chao led him out to the parking lot to where Chao's car was.
"Hey, you got a nice place here," Mark said, admiring Chao's condo unit.
"Thank you, Mark," said Chao, "I worked hard for this. Why don't you make yourself comfortable."
"Sure, thanks," said Mark, plopping himself on the luxurious couch in the living room.
"Have you had a proper dinner yet?" asked Chao, rummaging through his refrigerator.
"Not really," said Mark.
"Are you fine with Italian food? I know how to make spaghetti with meatballs," said Chao.
"That sounds good to me, thanks," said Mark, walking to the kitchen, "can I help you prepare the ingredients?"
"Sure," said Chao, "here, you can cut up these tomatoes and celery sticks. I will take care of the garlic and onions while I thaw the frozen meatballs in the microwave oven."
By the time the spaghetti dish was ready to eat, both Chao and Mark were really hungry.
"Would you like some orange juice or bottled water?" asked Chao.
"Orange juice, please, thanks, P'Chao," said Mark, twirling the spaghetti noodles with his fork.
"This is really good, P'Chao," said Mark, "I wish I could learn how to cook this."
"I would be glad to teach you," said Chao, handing Mark a tall glass of orange juice..
Chao and Mark spent the rest of the night binge watching on action thrillers from Chao's collection of purchased movies.
When they both got too sleepy to continue watching, Chao offered the spacious couch for Mark to sleep on and Mark gladly said yes.
Mark was awakened the next morning by the sound of Chao preparing breakfast in the kitchen area.
"Good morning, P'Chao," said Mark, getting up from the couch, rubbing his eyes.
"Oh, yeah, good morning, Mark, did you sleep well?"
"I did, thanks, P'Chao," Mark replied, "can I use your bathroom?"
"Of course, there's a set of fresh towels in there that you can use. I have also laid out a fresh change of clothes for you on the bathroom counter."
"Why thanks so much, P'Chao, that's very kind of you, I will return them to you as soon as I get them washed."
"Sure, no rush, Mark," Chao said as he flipped the pancakes carefully.
"Your phone is ringing, Mark," said Chao when he saw Mark go back into the living room.
Mark went to check his phone but did not take the call.
Chao looked at him curiously but did not ask Mark why he did not take the call.
"It's the person whom I believe P'Gun is interested in instead of me," said Mark, to explain why he did not take the call. "I'm not really inclined to talk to him at this time, even if he's also one of my friends."
"Do I know him?" asked Chao.
"You might," Mark replied, "he's the one who played the role of Good, Can's best friend in the LBC series. His real name is Best Vittawin."
"Oh yeah," said Chao, "I remember his face. He's very good looking."
"You're very good looking, too, Mark," Chao hastened to say when he noticed that Mark's face fell.
When Mark heard the notification sound of a voicemail message, he tapped on his phone. It was from Best.
"Mark, please come to my house quickly. P'Gun is with me. He is crying nonstop. He said he saw you come out of a pub last night with another guy!"
