"Rocky, there's something I have to...listen, I've been thinking about doing this thing and...no no no that won't work!"

Marshall fell on his bed and stared off into space. He couldn't put the right words together to tell Rocky...he wanted to adopt him as a younger brother. He got his parents to sign it if he went on the fire documentary fair this weekend but it was worth it. But the problem was Rocky's reaction. Did he even want to be adopted? Did he want to become Marshall's brother when he wanted to be an inventor? Was this going to affect their whole friendship?

Marshall's phone buzzed and he put it up to his ear "Hello?"

"Hey Marshy." Everest's voice flowed into Marshall, calming him down instantly.

"Hi Eve, what's up?" Marshall smiled

"Do I really need a really need a reason to call my boyfriend?"

Marshall chuckled "Well no-"

"Actually I wanted to know if you were doing ok. You were really tense at school today." Everest's voice became concerned.

"I'm ok, it's just this thing I have to tell Rocky."

"What do you have to tell him? I won't tell him, I promise."

Marshall chuckled and raced to his door. He looked left, the right before closing it and locking it. He jumped on his bed again and took out the adoption papers.

"So, you know how Rocky's father is in jail and totally lost custody of Rocky?"

"Yeah...?"

"Well I went to the jail yesterday and asked him if he didn't want Rocky anymore and-"

"Wait, you went to see Rocky's dad!? I swear Marshall, your crazy."

"Oh sweetheart, I'm about to get crazier." Marshall smirked "I went to my mom and dad this morning for their permission, and that was so hard, and I finally got it."

"Got what?"

Marshall took a deep breath "I'm going to adopt Rocky into my family, as my brother."

There was silence on the other line, and Marshall thought Everest hung up for minute before a screech blasted in his ear. He groaned and took his phone far away from him.

"Geez Eve! Blow out my sense of hearing why don't ya." Marshall said sarcastically

"Sorry, it's just, this is so amazing!" Everest giggled

"Yeah, it is. But...I'm scared." Marshall said sheepishly

"Scared? Scared of what?"

"His reaction babe! What if he doesn't want another family? What if he doesn't want to be adopted? What if this breaks up our friendship?! I don't wanna lose Rocky as my best friend." exclaimed Marshall as he fell on his back.

"Marshy, that's ridiculous. All Rocky wanted was to have a better family. All that stuff won't happen." Everest said calmly

Marshall smiled "Your right."

Everyone stood up from their seats and stretched, grabbing a water bottle each that was prepared on the table near Zuma and Rubble.

"With Marshall and Everest keep goofing off I didn't think we would ever finish." Chase mumbled

"So, now what? Winter break is coming up in a two weeks." Rocky said, sitting on Zuma's lap.

"Uh, aren't you forgetting? We have an exam this week." Lyra said

Marshall spat his water all over Rocky's back "What?!"

"Ahhh! Water! Water!" Rocky screamed and ran out the room.

"Oops, forgot he's scared of water." Marshall said nervously while avoiding Zuma's glare "Anyway, we have an exam?!"

"Yeah, it's in Professor Adam class." Rubble said

Everyone but Rubble and Lyra groaned "Damn it."

"He's probably the toughest teacher there. Of course he'll give us an exam before we're out for break." Chase said, sitting next to Skye.

"We should probably go home to study. If I fail his class, I don't know what dad will do to me." Everest said.

"Alright, bye princess." Marshall said and pecked Everest on her lips which she returned.

"I'm studying over youw house Chase." Zuma said as he walked out the door.

"Me too!" Skye added

Chase rolled his eyes and chuckled "Now my house is popular. Great."

Marshall chuckled and waved to his cousin. Once everyone was gone, he digged in his pocket for the adoption papers. Only problem was...

"Shit. No no no no no." Marshall whispered to himself as he emptied his clean pockets.

He ran out the room and upstairs to his room. But he was already to late. He slammed his room door open only to find Rocky sitting on his bed, reading the sheet of paper.

"Y-Your adopting me?" Rocky stuttered, looking up at the paler boy.

"R-Rocky! I-It isn't what it looks like! I was going to tell you, but something came up and-oof!" Marshall was cut off when Rocky slammed into him.

The two teen boys fell to the ground. The paper was still in Rocky's hand when he wrapped his arms around Marshall's neck. This came as a shock to Marshall's brain and it became fuzzy.

"Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I always wanted a brother!" Rocky cried holding tighter.

"I-I thought you would be mad at me." Marshall whispered

"Mad? Mad?! Marshall, this is the greatest thing that's happen to me! I have a new family, a second chance to start over." Rocky said, nuzzling into Marshall's shoulder.

Marshall sat up and leaned against the nearest wall. Rocky was in between his legs and they held each other tightly.

"I've only known you for three months, and my life has been nothing but perfect." Marshall whispered "I finally have a little brother to look after. And I promise you will never get hurt when I'm around."

"You know I'm not that younger than you right?" Rocky mumbled with his eyes closed

"But your still younger." Marshall snickered

"Whatever bro."
