The first week of school was almost over. It was now Friday and the weekend was right around the corner.
Normally Hoseok would be ecstatic to finally take a short break from being bullied in school. His parents were always gone on a business trip but Hoseok knew it was because they didn't want to be in the same house as their disappointment of a son for more than a day.
It was different this time around.
Yoongi's parents insisted that the boys spend every Saturday together to get to know the other and get used to each other's company.
Hoseok's parents, of course, concurred.
The brown-eyed boy dreaded it, having no choice but to oblige.
But for now, he had to worry about spending a car ride with Yoongi as he waited for him to get out of basketball practice because the boy's mother, Doori, also insisted to give Hoseok a ride everyday after school. Hoseok's mother didn't even deny since having a driver pick Hoseok up from school was apparently just a waste of gasoline. Even though half the time he had to walk home because she refused to send a driver for whenever he had to stay late for projects.
He finally decided to wait in the school's gym, where practice was held, instead of waiting outside. If he was out in the open with no one around, it would be an invitation for a beating if Sehun saw him.
Looking through the small window through the gym doors, he could already see a mint head yelling things to the other players while he stood at the side of the court, ball in hand.
Hoseok entered the gym, careful not to slam the heavy metal door to refrain from gaining attention to himself. He slowly walked to the other side of the bleachers where there weren't much students watching the boys practice. He of course could hear the murmurs of some students who he had unintentionally caught their eyes.
The boy kept his gaze on the floor when a sudden yell stopped him in his tracks.
"Watch out!" Someone yelled too soon before Hoseok saw a boy hurdling toward him. Whoever the other person was, wrapped his arm around the brown-eyed boy's waist to refrain him from completely hitting the bleachers when they both fell over. Hoseok had his eyes open the whole time from shock as he looked above him to see no other than Min Yoongi.
The older was about to ask if the other was okay until he realized who the person was. He quickly let go of Hoseok with a glare, purposefully dropping the guy on the bleachers, before walking back to the court with an angered expression.
Hoseok stayed in the same position, not caring about the laughter and whispers he had caused.
"Hey are you okay?" An unfamiliar voice sweetly rang through his ears. He looked to his right where a shorter male hurried to carefully walk down the bleachers to help Hoseok up.
"U-um, yeah. T-thanks." The boy mumbled lowly in embarrassment.
"I'm Park Jimin." The shorter introduced himself. "You're Hoseok right?"
To say that the brunet was a bit stunned would be quite an accurate description. Why was Park Jimin being nice to the new fiancé of his own boyfriend?
Hoseok nodded.
"We should go outside, I wouldn't want to stay inside with all these judgy people if I were you. Don't worry, I'll accompany you." Jimin smiled brightly which the other returned for his kindness.
As they waited outside the gym, Jimin sat them down in front of the lockers. It was awkward for Hoseok but Jimin didn't seem very fazed by the situation. The shorter finally noticed the uncomfortable shifting of the other and decided to speak up.
"You know, I don't bite so feel free to be yourself around me." Jimin joked, nudging the boy next to him. Hoseok forced himself to faintly laugh because if he was being honest, he forgot what it was like to be himself. He spent all those years living in the pathetic mold that people made for him that it had become 'himself'.
"Thanks I guess." Jimin hummed at the awkward response.
"Oh, and I'm sorry for Yoongi's behavior. I'll talk to him about being nicer to you in the future. He's been more pissy lately because of the marriage but he'll cool down sooner or later."
"Y-you're not mad about it?" Hoseok questioned in confusion.
"Why would I be?"
"I-I don't know... I just thought it was even worse because I'm a brown-... nevermind."
"I have to admit, I was upset when I first found out but please don't think your eyes have anything to do with this. All this bullying you get for being who you are is just bullshit to be honest. I'm really sorry for what you've gone through but as I started to think deeper, maybe this marriage between you and Yoongi isn't the worst. Yoongi may be cold at times but once he starts warming up to you, he wouldn't let others put you down. I am a little disappointed that Doori picked you over me when I'm already.. with Yoongi... but I'm happy for you guys."
"I-I'm really sorry, Jimin. I wouldn't let this happen if I had a choice." The taller apologized with his head down.
"Hey, hey. Don't be sorry. You didn't do anything wrong. I know that Yoongi would do anything to make his mom happy and that's why he didn't protest when she told him the news. Plus, once Doori has her mind set on something, she doesn't let it go until she's satisfied so there's no use in going against her. Other than that, you'd love her. She's the sweetest. She's like a second mom to me."
He assured the male with a warm, contagious smile. Hoseok did the same back before the gym doors bursted open, scaring both of them.
Yoongi came out looking outraged, his school bag and duffle bag slung around his sweaty shoulders while one hand gripped a water bottle and the other grabbed Jimin's hand, towing the boy with him.
"Baby, calm down." Jimin pouted once they stopped by the front of the school.
"Sorry. Hey, your ride's here. I'll talk to you later, yeah?" Yoongi said in a softer tone, pecking the slightly shorter male's forehead. Jimin hummed, skipping to his ride, but not before bidding goodbye to the brown-eyed boy standing a few feet behind his boyfriend.
The boy finally turned around with a scowl when Jimin's car drove off.
"You." He said with distaste at the fidgeting younger. "Why the fuck would you go to basketball practice?"
Hoseok looked like he was close to tearing up as he spoke up. "I-I was waiting o-outside but I didn't want Sehu-"
"I don't fucking care. Don't ever go to practice while waiting for me. You stay outside until I get out. I don't need you embarrassing me in front of my teammates."
"I-I'm sorr-" the boy was about to apologize but Yoongi had already started walking away. Hoseok quickly scrambled behind him as they reached the car.
They got in, the two of them sitting a seat apart from each other in the back seat. Yoongi still looked displeased while Hoseok mentally blamed himself for his stupidity.
He should've just stood outside. A beating from Sehun would've been better than having Yoongi hate him even more.
