Chapter 2 (EDITING)

Owl burst through the wooden door, almost breaking it. "Nagi!" He ran in and looked around. "Nagi! It's Roarin!" He looked at the desk on the far side of the room. It had a stack of scrolls and multiple bottles of bubbling and oozing liquids. Flowers were scattered here and there In between the leaves leading in from the huge tree that held the place up.

He halfway leaped on to a desk, stretching his neck over and looking down, in case she hadn't heard him and was organizing. "Nagi, where are you?" He asked himself as he slid off the desk.

He stopped as he noticed movement up in the tree. A purple flower slowly floated down and landed on his snout. Owl stared at it for a moment, and then shook it off. "Maybe the back room?" He turned and walked off to the opening across from the desk. He slid through it with barely any place to open his wings. He had to hold them in close to keep them from sliding across the wood side walls. "Nagi . . . Come on. There's no time to . . ."

He noticed light coming from deeper in the entrance. "Nagi." He sped up. His eyes were met with a bright light. He put his talons over his eyes.

"Oh, Owl! How nice of you to come here and visit me!" A bright yellow scaled RainWing slid off of a branch that had made its' way through the structure. She ran over to him and grabbed his front talons. "You'll never believe it!" She pulled him to the center of the room, leaves scrunching and flowers swishing around here and there.

She stopped him and circled him before she ran to a chain that was hanging down. Why would anyone need that?

She looked at him and then back at the chain, seeing his expression, she laughed and swiped her front talons in an excusing motion.

"Oh, no, Owl. These are not to hold you, they're just here because I found it!" She smiled and looked back at the chain. "Why would anyone drop it? Simply dazzling, I must say."

Owl sighed. "Taln does hold prisioners, you know. It could have been dropped by Roarin- Roarin!" He suddenly remembered.

Nagi poked at the chain. "I suppose."

"Nagi!" Owl said as he grabbed her shoulders. "Roarin got angry again, he's fighting Topple, and he's hurt bad, and he sent me to get you, and he wants to hurt the others, and... and . . ." He spoke quickly, forgetting to breathe and take his time.
"Oh, dear." Nagi said." Then we must hurry" She let go of the chain and went through the tunnel Owl had just gone through. He followed, trying to catch up. Her swift, quick movements made it difficult to catch up, since Owl was much bigger than her tiny RainWing size.

He bolted out the door after her, spreading his wings and taking flight. Nagi's scales had shifted to an angry red and worried green as she flapped viciously to the scene.

Needle was on Roarin's back, gripping his neck furiously as he was stretching for Whale, who was stuck in a corner, looking like he desperately wanted to help.

Roarin shook violently, and Owl was afraid Needle almost lost her grip, but he smiled in relief when she caught hold of his neck, holding on easier with her sharp talons digging into his scales.
She clawed at his face, he flicked his tail around, and Pear was jumping back to dodge it. Clip was holding Comet's tail back, as he was trying to attack the giant SkyWing and rip out his vocals to help his friends.
Owl pointed to Topple as he was getting up from his spot.

"There's Topple! He seems okay!" Owl yelped. Nagi nodded.

"Roarin!" Nagi called as she landed behind him. Roarin turned angrily toward her. Then stopped as he saw who she was.

He saw Owl as he landed beside her, he snorted before shaking his back.

Needle still hung on to his neck, unsure if she should let go.

"That's enough, Needle." Nagi motioned her to get off of Roarin.

Needle looked at Roarin, then to Nagi, her jaws still clinging to his scales.

Nagi nodded and Needle let go.

Needle arched her tail up defensively as she backed away, like a scorpion does when it defends itself.
Roarin sighed and sat down. The others finally calmed as well. Topple went up to Owl and nodded to him.

Nagi went up to Roarin and gave him a sour look, her scales changing to the deepest of red Owl had ever seen.
Roarin looked away. It was plain he liked her, but also hated her because of her sweet nature.

"You were to behave, Roarin!" She spat. "Did you not hear Roassin correctly?"

"They deserved punishment!" Roarin said angrily.

Comet was finally sitting, and Clip no longer held his tail. Whale was still wide-eyed as he kept taking deep Breathes behind Roarin.

"And what punishment is that?" Nagi scolded.

Roarin grunted and blew out smoke as a reply.

"Come." Nagi said. "You are to wash up when you speak to Roassin." She wrapped her tail around his talons and took off, almost as if she was dragging him across the darkening sky.

Topple looked back at the others, and they stared at him with wide eyes.

"Bed." Topple commanded before he flew away.

When no one moved, Owl poked Pear and opened his wings, guiding them like cattle. "Come on." He spoke. Nobody complained, and they all flew to their quarters.

Comet sat on his stone ledge-of-a Bed, pulling out and reading a scroll with his nose deep into it.
Whale was in his pond, already swimming in circles to indicate he was tiring himself out.

"That was weird." Needle said as she stepped in.

Owl helped Pear up into his little neat hammock, nodding in agreement.

Pear's tail smacked Owl on the nose as it flipped out and down.

"Sorry." Pear said. He used his talons to pull it back up, but it soon fell out again.

Needle giggled and walked over to Comet, taking a peek at his scroll.

Comet sighed before closing it. "What?" He said.

Needle squinted her eyes at him and turned to Owl, who was squishing and squashing his giant mud puddle to his liking, sitting in it when he found the perfect spot.

"Needle." Owl said, looking up from his mud puddle.

"Yes?" She replied, in a hopeful tone of some sort.

"Why are you here?" Owl sighed blandly.

"Oh! Yes, yes . . . Well I was seeing whether or not you'd . . . Like to. . ."

Owl tilted his head at her, wondering why she had suddenly forgotten what she wanted to say.

". . .Tell me what you thought about today!" She finished.

Owl was confused. He probably thought the same as her.

"Probably the same as you, I guess." He replied.

"Right, lizard - brained me!" She chuckled.

"Needle?" Owl said.

"Mhm?" Needle said.

"Are you okay?" Owl asked. Normally Needle was strict and uptight and kind of bossy, but today she seemed awkward.
Guess what happened shook her up, huh? He thought.

"What?" Needle instantly became defensive.

Comet and Whale looked up from what they were doing and looked at each other.

"I'm perfectly fine!" She grinned. "I'm almost as strong as you anyways, and I have a poisonous tail, and I'm always warm, I don't get sick! I'm fine!"

She got up and left the cave.

Comet chuckled and Whale went back to his circling.

Owl shrugged and laid his head on his talons, very exhausted.

Comet set his scroll down and reached his neck to a hole where a fire was.
Easily, he blew it out, and Owl soaked in his mud comfortably in the dark.

He thought about his friends. How they fought to save a guardian they really didn't appreciate.
Will t be like this old or the rest of his life? Will him and the others never get to go out and explore beyond Taln, see the others out there? The only dragons they've ever seen were SkyWings.

There were only SkyWings around on Taln, except Nagi, but she's just like them; she's got her fire breath.

He closed his eyes, wondering about the world, beyond Taln. About if he would find out more, and find an actual big dragon to care of his friend. friends.

After all, he can't be the only one to protect them, can he?
