That Fateful Day

Warning: Panic attack

8 months later

You and Philip grew to be best friends. All your other friends didn't really like Philip, so you kinda stopped hanging out with them. All you needed was Philip. You invite him over to your house regularly, but strangely, you've never been to his house.

Philip's POV

I never invite (Y/N) over. Yeah, their a good friend, but, like, I don't want to become to attached. Why? Because all of my previous friends had stopped talking to me once they saw my parents. How weird they are. I just don't want them to ruin everything. I also don't want them to know I have a friend. Then the plan will fail.

I slam the front door shut and kick off my shoes. No ones home. Weird. My parents are almost always home. What if...no, can't be! I dash to the calendar and see that...yep. The baby was supposed to be due in a week. Guess it came early. THAT STUPID LITTLE CREEP IS GOING TO STEAL JOHN FROM ME! I'm not jealous.

Ring ring!

The phone started ringing. Great. I walk slowly over to the phone and look at who's calling. The hospital. I hesitate, then decline. I didn't need to hear the rant about how cute the baby was.

~2 hours later~

My parents burst through the door holding the baby. I don't even have to look up to know that they are not looking for me. Alexander and Eliza stomp to the kitchen to grab a snack for the baby. Gosh! They were so freaking loud! John leaps over the couch and turns on soccer.

No one even noticed me. Great. I knew this would help me with my plans later but it still hurt.

Suddenly Alex and Eliza are beside me introducing me to the baby. She's so cute. Her name's Angelica. I immediately hate her.

"Isn't she the cutest?" Eliza asks, more like states, shoving the baby into my face.

The room got smaller all of the sudden. The TV seemed to loud. Everyone was to close. The house was to stuffy. I couldn't breath.

I shoved past my parents and broke out of the house in a run. Not bothering to tie my shoelaces, the soles slapped against the pavement. I sprinted past a row of houses up to the intersection. Everything was blurry. My breaths came in short, shallow gasps. I spun around. Everyone was crowding around me.

"Are you ok?" A old grandma asked me.

"Get a load of that loser." Said a teenager, snickering and pointing a stubby finger at me.

I whipped around and ran until I came across another row of houses. I stopped in front of a house the color of a blue speckled robin's egg. The window frames were painted a soft pastel yellow. The door a bright pink. The porch was a fresh green and purple flowers sprung up in clumps.

I loved that house. I stepped up to the steps breathing heavily still. I didn't bother to knock, not enough energy, I tried to kick the door open. How smart, I thought to myself. I heard the footsteps of (Y/N). As soon as they answered the door, I collapsed into them.

"Whoa, Philip!" They said, wobbling a little.

I tried to stand up, but the more I tried the more I failed. Soon, I just gave up. They led me to the couch and sat me down. Then they looked me in the face. Their face went from concern to alarm as they realized I was having a panic attack.

Your POV

Your eyes widen in alarm as you realize Philip was having a panic attack. You frantically start stuttering useless nonsense to try to calm him down. In the end you just wrap him up in a hug.

"Try to match your breathing with mine." You tell him.

He calms down a little. You get up and get him a glass of water.

"Feel better?" You ask.

He nods and takes the glass from your hands. His hands are shaking slightly. You place a steady hand on his. He looks terrible. His eyes are frantic and his movements, jerky.

"What are my parents going to say?" He whispers with a raspy voice.

For once, you were completely speechless.
