Chapter 7 ~ Stuck
Sophie's P.O.V
Sophie jolted awake and started to gasp for breath. Her mouth was dry and she could taste the dry blood that was there.
Wait...blood?
Sophie gasped in realization when her memories came back to her.
The Neverseen had taken her.
Sophie tried to see where she was at but all she could see was darkness because there was a blindfold over her eyes.
She tried to move but then she realized that her hands were tied together and her legs were tied to whatever she was sitting in. It must have been some chair.
Rats!
How was she supposed to get out of this one?!
Sophie immediately felt frustration. The Neverseen had beaten her and now she was their prisoner.
Sophie then started to worry about her family and friends.
Were they are alright? Did they know what happened to her?!
Okay, Sophie needed to relax. She needed to first find a way out...somehow...
Sophie tried yanking and wriggling her hands out of the ropes but it was no use.
Sophie then realized that she had left her phone in her pocket so she immediately used her arm to feel her pockets.
But Sophie could feel nothing in them.
Great, they also took her phone.
"I could sit here and watch you struggle all day," a voice spoke, echoing in the room.
Zach.
Sophie moved her head up to try and guess where Zach could be, instantly causing pain in her neck from when Zach punched her.
"It's quite humorous, you don't ever seem to want to accept your failure," he continued, sounding like he was getting closer.
"This isn't failure," Sophie spat.
Sophie could hear Zach let out a snicker. "Really? Then what do you call this?" He asked in amusement.
Sophie remained silent.
"That's what I thought," he said, so close now, Sophie could feel his nasty breath on her face.
Sophie coughed in disgust. "I see you fail to brush your teeth."
Sophie regretted that when she felt his hand grip her face, squeezing it tight.
Zach then ripped her blindfold off. Sophie squinted as the blinding light hit her eyes and it took her a few seconds to be able to see clearly.
She regretted it when she had to see Zach's ugly face, who was now glaring at her.
He then pointed ahead of her. Sophie looked to where he was pointing and saw it was a stool ahead of her that had her phone placed on it.
"I bet you wish you could have that thing in your hands," Zach said, grinning now.
He wasn't wrong.
"You see, this is torture. Knowing you are so close to help but you aren't strong enough to reach," Zach continued.
He made his way over to her phone and grabbed it. "It's not like this would be useful to you anyways, you don't even know where you are," Zach said, waving the phone in the air.
Sophie realized he was right. She looked around to see she was just in an empty metal room with no visible way out.
"Where am I?" Sophie asked, guessing it had to be some hideout.
"You'll find out soon enough," Zach said. He then looked back at her phone and cracked it in half.
"NO!" Sophie yelled.
"Oops, too late," he sarcastically said, letting it drop to the ground to be fractured even more.
"Sophie, you need to accept that you aren't going back. You're stuck here and what we took you from is now only your past," he said after a few seconds of silence.
"What? So, you're not going to bring me back ever? Not even for an exchange?" Sophie questioned.
"Nope!" He exclaimed, shaking his head.
"So...you don't even need anything from my family and friends?" Sophie asked.
"Nope!"
"You aren't even after the cancer cure anymore?" Sophie asked.
"Nope!"
Sophie eyed him suspiciously. "Then...what was the point of even capturing me? Is this some kind of way to make my family suffer?"
"I mean, making your family and friends suffer without you is a bonus for us," Zach said, shrugging.
"So...what do you guys really need me for?" Sophie asked, confused.
Zach's only response was a smirk, like he was hiding something.
Sophie gasped. "Please don't tell me you guys till want me to marry you!"
"Um, no...but if you really wanted to we could!" Zach exclaimed, winking.
Sophie gagged. "Yeah, no. I'll take a hard pass."
"Doesn't matter anyways. You'll be with us now whether you want to or not," Zach said.
"What, like join the Neverseen?" Sophie asked.
"Perhaps."
"You're crazy if you'd ever think I'd want to do that," Sophie scoffed.
"Do I need to remind you of what we can do? Because I'm pretty sure you have no choice," Zach reminded her.
Sophie scowled. Ugh, she hated how they could blackmail her like this.
"You see, this is why it's a problem when you have people you love in your life. They hold you back and it can end up backfiring on you. And people like me, we have everything taken from us so now we have nothing to lose— nothing to hold us back," Zach explained.
Sophie rolled her eyes. "Is that what Mai and Quan tell you?"
Zach faced her and narrowed his eyes. "Do not think that your enemies can't be wise. I've become the person I am today because of them and I don't have anything holding me back unlike you. Spoiled brats like you who have everything they can ask for end up failing and realizing they can never win."
"You think I've never gotten anything taken from me?! You think I have everything?! I had to suffer for years because YOU guys killed my parents!" Sophie yelled, feeling tears rising to the surface.
"THAT WASN'T ENOUGH! You moved on and we're able to replace them with more distractions! But NOW that we have taken you away from everything you've loved, you will be enlightened and YOU will realize how much weight they put on you!" Zach yelled back.
Sophie shook her head and looked away.
Zach then charged her and kicked her chair, making it tilt and fall over, causing Sophie's face to be smashed up against the ground. Sophie gasped in pain.
"Sophie, you will soon realize that we will not be your enemies anymore. And we will work together and you will move on," Zach continued, staring down at her.
"Oh, so am I going to have to help you guys murder innocent people?! Take things that aren't yours?! Ruin lives that had so much potential?!" Sophie asked, starting to feel scared for what they were preparing her for.
Zach never even told her why they needed her...
Zach smiled. "Oh, it will much more than that. You'll understand soon, but now, until you accept your fate, you will be locked in here."
"What? You're gonna just keep me in here until I agree to be with you guys?" Sophie asked.
"Yep!"
"Well it looks like you'll be waiting forever because I will never give in!" Sophie spat.
Zach gave her a fake sympathetic smile. "We'll see about that. By the way, the room will be put to freezing temperatures and you will not be brought any food."
"I don't care!" Sophie said, though her growling stomach said otherwise.
"Okay, I guess you'll have to learn the hard way. When, you don't accept your fate, you suffer," Zach said, starting to walk away.
"Wait! Can you at least pick my chair back up?" Sophie pleaded, her face still smushed up against the floor.
"No, I think I'll leave you there," Zach concluded, touching an invisible button on the wall that made it open up which allowed him to exit. The wall then sealed back shut, leaving Sophie there to rot.
Sophie had a feeling this wasn't going to end well.
OH DEAR! Sophie is left in such an impossible situation! What will she do?!
Will she give in? Let herself suffer? Find some way to escape?!
And hmmm, what could the Neverseen possibly need her for?!
