Sophie's P.O.V
(This takes place a little before the lockdown was called.)

Sophie finished the last of her sandwich and zipped up her lunch bag. She got up to throw out her trash and looked at the doors.

Biana and Tam still weren't back.

Sophie made her way back to her lunch table and said, "I wonder when Biana and Tam are coming back."

Marella shrugged. "Who knows?" Marella said, but she seemed a bit distracted. She was looking towards Dex's direction where him and Linda were chatting.

"Do you think something happened to them?" Linh asked, her face showing worry.

"Well, the only thing I'm worried about is facing the wrath of Tam if he catches Biana and figures out it was my idea," Marella said.

Sophie smirked knowing how Tam could be.

The bell then rang, signaling the end of lunch. "Well, we should probably head to class now. We'll probably find Biana and Tam later," Linh suggested, running off.

Sophie nodded and got up. She turned and waited for Marella to get up too.

"Marella, c'mon," Sophie called, tapping her.

"Oh— sorry," Marella apologized, getting up. Sophie realized that Marella was still watching Dex and Linda.

Oh...

"Um, Dex, lunch ended," Sophie said, trying to get Dex's attention.

"Oh right!" Dex said, slowly getting up. He had to be careful with that prosthetic leg.

"Oh Dex! We have Calculus class together next!" Linda exclaimed, giving Dex a hand to get up.

"Oh yeah," Dex mumbled.

"Oh, you guys also have Calculus together?" Marella asked.

"Yes! C'mon Dex! We have to go!" Linda exclaimed.

"Alright, alright! Catch ya guys later," Dex said, waving, starting to walk away.

"Yes, it was nice meeting you two!" Linda exclaimed to Sophie and Marella.

"Um yes, nice meeting you too," Sophie replied.

Linda then grinned. "Well, hopefully I'll see you guys again!"

"Boop!" Linda exclaimed, booping Marella on the nose. Linda then quickly stalked away with Dex.

Sophie turned to see Marella with her jaw dropped. "Did...did that Linda girl just...BOOP ME?!" Marella shrieked.

Sophie nodded. "I think so."

Marella seemed speechless. "Well, Linda seems...fun," Sophie added.

Marella scoffed in response. "Did you know Linda before today?" She asked.

Sophie shook her head. "Nope."

Marella shook her head and her face showed irritation. "Look, I'm sure there's nothing to worry about," Sophie assured.

"Yeah, maybe I'm just...overthinking it," Marella mumbled.

The second bell then rang. "Okay, we really have to go," Sophie said, running towards the exit of the cafeteria.

"Yeah, see ya later," Marella said.

Sophie nodded and went down to her familiar route to the bathroom. Every day, she always took a quick bathroom break before her next class after lunch.

But Sophie had to hurry today since she took so long with Marella back in the cafeteria.

Sophie finally made her way to the bathroom entrance and quickly rushed in.

While she was doing her business, her thoughts drifted off. She thought of the memory she had with Keefe from this morning. She internally laughed at how silly they had been.

More like Keefe.

And she suddenly felt a rush of excitement for what was to come when she would meet up with him after school today at his job. He said he had a surprise for her and she wondered what it would be.

Did he have a gift for her? Was he going to bring her somewhere? Or maybe he had something to tell her...

Sophie's mind often wandered to the day it had been her birthday and Keefe was supposed to come over. He had said he had something important to tell her that day but he never got to since Sophie had been so shocked with the news of the jail breakout. The whole reason why Sophie wasn't herself lately.

Sophie sometimes wondered what Keefe would have told her that day if nothing ever happened...

Would today be the day he would tell her what he had tried to tell her a month ago?

Sophie's mind wandered to so many possibilities when all of a sudden she heard a very loud scream come from outside the bathroom.

Sophie jumped in surprise and for a second she thought she had imagined it but then she heard some loud bangs and clashes.

Umm...

Sophie froze for one second but then quickly finished up and washed her hands, curious to see what was happening.

She grabbed her bag and hesitated to open the bathroom door. But then she took a deep breath and slowly opened it up, peaking her head out into the hallway.

It was dead silent and the halls were empty.

Hmm...maybe it was just some kids that were goofing off in the halls...

Sophie then realized that if the halls were empty then she was probably late for class.

"Shoot!" Sophie hissed under her breath as she jogged to where her next class was.

She made it to the hall where she had her next class but she realized all the lights were off.

She cautiously made her way to her class and when she tried to open up the class door, it was locked.

"Huh? Um— HELLO?!" Sophie shouted, banging on the classroom door.

No response.

Well this was strange...

Sophie then looked up and saw that the window on the door was covered in black construction paper.

Why was the window covered?

They only did that for...lockdown
drills—

"Oh my goodness!" Sophie cried out.

NO! NO! NO!

There had to be a reasonable explanation—

Sophie sprinted to the other classroom doors along the hall and tried to open them up but they were all locked. And all the windows were covered in construction paper.

OMG! This couldn't be happening—

Maybe there was a lockdown drill today and Sophie just didn't know about it?!

But then Sophie thought of when she heard those screams and loud noises earlier...

"I gotta go find somewhere to hide," Sophie exclaimed to herself.

She felt panic rise in her.

If all the classroooms were locked where would she go?!

Think! Think! Think!

Oh! THE BATHROOMS!

The teachers always told them that if a lockdown were to occur and all the classrooms were locked, they should find the nearest bathroom to hide in.

Sophie decided to sprint back to the bathroom she was just in.

As she was running, she felt her heart race as she tried to figure out what would cause this lockdown.

And the scariest part was that Sophie was all alone.

Sophie was out of breath by the time she reached the bathroom she had just been in. Sophie cautiously looked around to see if anyone was in the halls as she slowly opened and closed the bathroom door.

Once Sophie made sure the door was locked, she spun around to—

"Why hello there Sophie," Mai greeted, popping out of a bathroom stall.

Sophie practically jumped up in the air as she let out a frightened scream.

"SHUT IT!" Mai shouted, immediately taking out a gun and pointing it right at Sophie's head.

That made Sophie silence herself as panic rushed in her.

Last night she may have wanted the Neverseen to take her, but now that Sophie was standing in front of Mai after all those years, Sophie's mind was now screaming at her to RUN!

"You're probably wondering how I found you here. Well, we've been preparing for this day for a while and we know you go to this specific bathroom every day at this time," Mai explained, smirking.

Sophie didn't respond when all she could stare at was the gun that was faced right at her.

Sophie started to slowly back up but she ran into the door. She cursed herself for locking it earlier.

"Trying to escape?" Mai asked, amused.

"Wh-what do you want from me?!" Sophie snapped.

Mai pursed her lips while tilting her head. "What do you think?"

"What I think is...YOU NEED BETTER REFLEXES!" Sophie shouted. Instantly, Sophie grabbed her backpack and whipped it at Mai's face.

Mai instantly shrieked and stumbled back and Sophie used the distraction to quickly unlock the bathroom door and escape.

Sophie bolted out and and took a left turn. When she sprinted around the corner, she collided into a huge body.

Sophie looked up to see it was Quan.

"HA! THOUGHT YOU COULD ESCAPE?!" Quan asked, cackling as he grabbed Sophie and held her up.

Sophie tried to scream but he covered her mouth. She tried to wiggle out of his arms but he was too strong.

Sophie started to feel dizzy and she realized a panic attack was starting to come up to the surface.

NO—

It had been such a long time since she had her last panic attack!

Sophie stopped scrambling for a second to calm down.

"What's wrong? Realized you were too weak and gave up?" Quan asked.

Sophie felt anger pulse through her. Her instincts kicked in and out of nowhere, she bit his hand as hard as she could, that was covering her mouth, which made Quan drop her and let out a huge yelp.

Sophie then kicked Quan as hard as she could where the sun doesn't shine which made him collapse to the ground in agony.

Sophie started to sprint away as fast as she could.

"QUAN! WHAT ARE YOU DOING?! GO AFTER HER!" Sophie heard Mai call behind her.

Sophie suddenly heard lots of stomping following her and that made her sprint faster.

When she turned around a corner, she was too panicked which caused her to trip over something and to face-plant into the ground.

Sophie groaned in pain and when she opened her eyes to see what she had tripped over, she let out a scream.

It was a dead body of a kid with several bullets in his gut.

Sophie immediately jumped up and looked at it in horror.

What had they done?!

Unfortunately, she was so distracted she didn't notice the figure that had approached her.

"Long time, no see eh?" Zach greeted, winking.

"SHUT IT YOU CREEP!" Sophie hissed, backing up.

"Nah, I think you're the one who needs to shut up," Zach replied.

And before Sophie could react, Zach punched Sophie right in the face, causing her to fall to the ground.

She felt blood drip down her face and the pain was unbearable.

Her vision was blurry but she could see Zach leaning down to face her as he sarcastically said, "it pains me so much to have to ruin such a pretty face."

The last thing Sophie heard was footsteps coming from behind her before she blacked out and the darkness took over.

AAAAAAA THE NEVERSEEN ARE OFFICIALLY BACK!!! WHAT WILL THEY DO TO SOPHIE?!
