Chapter 25 ~ Invading
I just want to thank you all for letting me take a break. You guys are amazing and I'm so grateful!
Anyways, here's the next chapter!
Marella's P.O.V
"Hurry Dex! We don't have much time," Marella exclaimed to Dex.
"Hold on!" Dex said, trying to grab all the things the janitor had given him to clean the rooms he assigned.
"I told Wylie we were just going to go to the cafe to get an evening snack. If we're gone too long, he'll get suspicious," Marella explained.
"What are we even doing?!" Dex asked.
"Alright, so you know that Neverseen guy that has been chasing us? Well, he's here. He's staying at this hotel," Marella said.
"Wait— HERE?!" Dex exclaimed, snapping his head around.
"SHHH!" Marella hissed.
"Well we have to get out of here! Let's tell Edaline and Grady," Dex exclaimed.
"No!" Marella exclaimed, grabbing Dex's arm before he could run off. "I want to find out what that guy is doing here in the first place."
"By doing...?" Dex asked.
"By sneaking into his room," Marella said, crossing her arms.
"What?! Are you crazy?!" Dex shrieked.
"Maybe," Marella replied.
"Do you even know his room number?"
"Room 517."
"Do you even know how to get in?!"
"With the keys that the janitor gave you," Marella said, snatching them from Dex's hand.
"Give those back," Dex said, trying to take them from her hands.
"No, I'm going to go searching in this guy's room. You can come or leave now," Marella stated.
"But it might not be safe. Why don't we tell Grady and Edaline or maybe Wylie?" Dex asked, gulping.
"No way! They'll never let us," Marella said.
"Because it isn't safe!" Dex argued.
"Do you want answers or not?" Marella questioned.
Dex stood there for a few seconds, looking like he was debating with himself before he said, "fine! But that janitor guy is going to kill me if I don't finish these rooms."
"Forget about him, he's the least of our problems," Marella said. "C'mon, let's just go. We already have been taking too much time. Wylie will start to come looking for us."
With that, they made their way to floor five with their janitor things and started to search for room 517.
"I have a bad feeling about this," Dex mumbled, shaky beside Marella as he pushed the janitor cart.
Before Marella could reply, they heard a loud bark come from behind them.
They jumped and quickly spun around.
"Stowy?!" Marella exclaimed, relieved.
Stowy happily ran towards them and started to lick Marella. "I thought I left you back at our room!" Marella said, confused.
"He must have followed us because he knew you were up to know good," Dex said, glaring at Marella.
"Dex if you keep this up, I'll report you to the janitor guy," Marella threatened, picking up Stowy.
"Wait— please no!" Dex begged, his eyes widening.
Marella playfully rolled her eyes. "Relax, I'm kidding."
"What are we going to do with Stowy?" Dex asked.
"I guess I'll just keep him with us for now. Now, c'mon. We have to go," Marella said, continuing to look for room 517.
"Here it is," Marella exclaimed, quietly running up to it.
"Ready?" She asked, looking back at Dex.
"What if he's in there?!" Dex hissed.
"Then we sprint."
"But he would catch us!" Dex shrieked.
Marella let out a frustrated sigh. "Are you helping me or not?!"
"Fine, I'm ready," Dex bickered under his breath.
"Alright," she took a deep breath. She then raised the janitor key and slowly unlocked the door.
Marella then slowly opened it and peaked her head inside to see it was dark. "I think he's out," Marella whispered.
Marella then heard a creak come from Dex's metal foot. "Shhhh!" Marella hissed.
"Tell that to your dog who's panting so loud!" Dex hissed back, pointing at Stowy.
"Here, hold Stowy and keep watch. Whistle if you see the man coming," Marella instructed, putting Stowy in Dex's arms.
"But what if I can't whistle?!" Dex asked, looking around nervously.
"Oh be quiet," Marella said, starting to walk into the room.
"Wait! Please don't leave me here alone!" Dex cried out.
"I'll be right back. Now please be quiet before someone catches us," Marella warned.
Marella started searching the room, ignoring Dex's protests. She kept the lights off so they wouldn't draw as much attention.
She started looking through the guy's bags, drawers, under the bed, and in the closets but she didn't find anything that struck her as anything important.
The only thing she did find was a bag full of knives and Marella decided to take one just in case. She put it in her pocket and made her way into the small kitchen.
She looked in the mini fridge but nothing was in there except food. She then pulled open the drawers under the cabinets and found a strange device.
Marella picked it up and looked at it. She was trying to turn it on when she heard a thump.
She froze and called out, "Dex?!"
When there was no response, Marella put the device in her pocket and slowly made her way back to the door.
She panicked when Dex was gone and was about to go running into the halls until she heard a noise behind her, causing her to spin around.
Marella jumped but sighed in relief when it was just Dex.
"It's me!" Dex said, pointing to himself, still carrying Stowy.
"You scared me. You were gone for a second and I thought something happened to you," Marella said quickly.
"Yeah, I just had to run to the bathroom. Again, those pancakes are not doing me good," Dex explained, holding his stomach.
"Now I know not to get any pancakes from here," Marella noted.
Dex laughed. "I just feel bad for poor Stowy who had to sit in the bathroom with me."
"Ewwww!" Marella shrieked, snatching Stowy back from Dex.
"It wasn't that bad!" Dex defended, his cheeks getting red.
Marella just put a hand up. "I don't want to hear about it."
"Okay, so did you find anything?" Dex asked, clearing his throat.
"I just found a bunch of weapons and some strange device," Marella said. "We'll look at it later."
"So why do you think this guy is staying here?" Dex asked.
Marella shrugged. "I'm guessing he's just here so he can constantly watch us and be able to easily follow us wherever we go."
"Not scary at all," Dex muttered.
Suddenly, the lights flashed on and Marella jumped as she spun around.
"WYLIE?!" Marella and Dex shrieked, as Wylie stood at the doorway.
"What are you guys doing here?!" Wylie yelled out, stalking towards them.
"How did you even find us?" Marella asked.
"I knew you two were up to something! So I followed you," Wylie explained.
"This isn't good," Dex mumbled, nervously sweating.
"Guys you better explain what you're doing here!" Wylie exclaimed loudly.
"Wylie, keep it down!" Marella hissed.
"Don't tell me to keep it down! Why are you guys here?!" Wylie questioned.
"Wylie, you shouldn't be here," Marella exclaimed, nervously looking around.
"You guys shouldn't be here! Who's room is this anyways?" Wylie asked, crossing his arms.
"Wylie, please! Let's just talk somewhere else! Now is not a good time!" Marella begged.
"If you guys don't explain then I'll call Grady and Edaline right now," Wylie threatened.
Before Marella could respond, they heard loud footsteps from the hall outside the room.
"Oh no," Marella mumbled. She rushed over to the doorway and peaked out to see it was a man in a dark hoodie stalking towards them.
"Guys! Explain what's happening now!" Wylie commanded.
Why wouldn't Wylie just shut up—
"WHO'S IN MY ROOM?!" They heard a deep voice shout from not too far away.
"Oh no," Dex squeaked.
"Hide!" Marella hissed.
Marella shoved Wylie behind a couch and hissed at him to stay put. Dex then sprinted for his life into the bathroom while Marella hid behind a curtain.
Marella's heart pounded as she held Stowy close to her chest. She silently begged for Stowy not to bark as she stood as still as she could.
Suddenly, she heard the door creak open and could hear someone entering the room.
"I know someone is here. Show yourself!" Marella heard the guy's deep voice command.
Marella peaked out a little from behind the curtain and could see the man entering the kitchen.
She then took a risk and quietly sprinted from the curtain to the bathroom where Dex was hiding.
She ran in and saw that Dex was hiding inside the bathtub.
Marella put a finger up to her lips to quiet Dex when she startled him.
She hopped inside and laid low with him.
"What are we gonna do?" Dex whispered.
"I don't know," Marella whispered back.
"RUFF! RUFF!" Stowy barked loudly.
"Oh my gosh," Marella panicked, putting her hand over Stowy's mouth.
Her eyes widened as she stared at a shaking Dex.
Oh they were so dead.
Suddenly, Marella heard the bathroom door open and could hear the guy stepping in and coming closer to the tub.
Marella hugged Stowy and Dex tight as she shut her eyes.
She held her breath as she could hear the loud raspy breath from the man who was only a few steps behind them.
There was no way the man didn't know where they were hiding now.
As Marella waited for the man to attack, she heard Wylie shout, "HEY! OVER HERE!"
Marella opened her eyes and whispered, "oh no."
She heard the man run out of the bathroom and shout, "HEY YOU!"
Marella guessed Wylie had distracted the guy and was now being chased.
"Dex we have to go now," Marella said, getting up and helping Dex up too.
They then sprinted out the bathroom and made their way out.
They saw the door open and looked to see the man was chasing Wylie down the hall.
"Let's go!" Marella exclaimed, running after them with Dex following right behind.
"What are we gonna do?!" Dex asked, struggling to catch up to Marella with his prosthetic leg.
"I'm not sure," Marella said.
"That's just a wonderful plan," Dex muttered sarcastically.
When they turned around a corner, they were too busy talking that they didn't look as they ran right into something hard.
Marella and Dex fell to the ground from the impact and screamed when they looked up.
"Why hello. Why don't you join Wylie over there?" the man in the dark hoodie asked, pointing to Wylie who was trapped against a wall.
Marella held Stowy tight as she and Dex stumbled over to where Wylie was at.
"Now let's be good and do what I say, alright? I'm not sure you would like what would happen if you didn't," the man said, pulling out a gun and pointing it at them.
Oh no.
DUN DUN DUNNNNN!
OH NO! WHAT WILL HAPPEN NOW?!
Well we shall just have to see on Wednesday!
Adios Rats!
