Butterfly

remember that girl with freckles & thin lips . . .
she had a collection
of most beautiful butterflies
she catch them with a net
& put them in a jar
so they don't fly away,
she throws some flower & leaves too
to make it feel like home . . .
but butterflies don't need a home
i tell her that
and make her release them all
she wasn't happy to
though she understood . . .
she told me one time
these butterflies make her happy
when they move around & flap their wings,
it remind her of spring.

remember the boy with brown eyes & a contagious laugh
I wish i could have a collection
of his little things,
i caught him with my words
to keep him inside
i told some lies just to make him stay a little longer,
he doesn't want it
he wanted to be free
but i can't let him go
he makes me happy,
i see him stomp around
looking for an exist
i hold him tighter
so he wouldn't leave,
once in a while
when he's asleep
i kiss his forehead & whisper-
"you're my butterfly
now & forever."
