Let's say you are out and about and suddenly you have a thought for your story. Instead of being home in your favorite writing spot, you happen to be in school.

Bring a small spiral or composition notebook just to jot down ideas. Take it with you everywhere. You never know where you might get inspired.

Some people even get inspired in the shower. (I don't recommend taking the sprial in the shower literally but leave it on the sink counter)

Often a change of scenery and atmosphere can help you think better and give you a new perspective.

When you settle down to write look over your notes you jotted down. See what works and what doesn't. Nothing is set in stone.
