Body pressed against the freezing-cold tiles. Lips practically numb at this point. I grasp onto his frame for support. I moan against his lips and it clearly drives him wild. His hands reach to unbutton my blouse, but I stop him as fast as I can.

"Not here," I murmur into his ear before locking eyes with him one again. He nods before grabbing my hand and leading me from the bathroom, all through the bar, and out the exit doors. We call and taxi and jump in, my friend giving the man his address. He leans back next to me and plants his lips on my neck. I've never done shit like this... How do you think it's going?

I think you deserve to know how we got here. I lost you throughout the day:

"Miss Higgins," a firm voice greets me. I quickly direct my attention to the tall man standing over my cubicle. "Meet me in the conference room as soon as possible. I'd like to have a word." A pit grows in my stomach as he turns on his heels and walks away. Today's the day. I'm being terminated. It's too late now- should I just leave while I can? Anxiety fills my veins, but my moral compass steers me in the right direction. I enter the conference room, taking a seat across from the older fellow who is joined by my supervisor, Todd.

"How are you, Delilah?" Todd questions me, sparking casual conversation.

"I'm good. And you?"

"Great, actually!" It's obvious that this old man to the right has high authority over Todd as he is never this chipper and welcoming. He's usually the most laidback, carefree man I know.

"Miss Higgins, I called you in here because I have a very exciting opportunity for you." He leans forward placing his folded hands on the table. "I'd be happy to consider you for a promotion." An eerie smile spreads across his wrinkly chin. I chuckle awkwardly, the pit that had grown before now dissolving into think air.

"Mister..."

"Harrison." He corrects.

"Mister Harrison," I continue. "I really appreciate this offer, but I think I'm happy with where I am right now." The happy look Todd had implanted on his being has now disappeared after my statement. Mr. Harrison simply smiles before slowly rising from his seat.

"I understand, but I recommend you reconsider," he lifts his briefcase from under the table. "I'll let you sleep on it. Give me your final decision by tomorrow afternoon." We watch as Harrison leaves the room, Todd allowing the door to shut before blowing up on me.

"Are you kidding me, Delilah?" He grunts through gritted teeth. I'm taken aback by his actions, raising my eyebrows.

"What?" I whisper back, innocence engulfing my tone.

"Goddamnit," he sighs, rubbing his face. "This isn't the type of thing you just say 'no thanks' to! Honestly, you should either take the promotion or just quit now. The place where you are now isn't gonna get easier," he pushes himself from the table and exits, as well. I'm left alone for a minute, appalled at what had just occurred in the span of several minutes.

"You alright?" He whispers. I nod my head, not realizing how silent I was for a moment. Kissing his cheek, I make my way down to his neck to return the favor. The taxi stops and we jump out, paying, and rushing into his apartment. The moment his door shuts we race to strip ourselves before reconnecting our lips and falling onto the bed...

This scene is all too familiar. I wake early once again, gathering my clothes. Searching the flat for my things, I stumble across an random ID card. My curiosity takes over as I flip it to reveal the man's face. From the looks of it, this must be his employment badge. I feel like shit for snooping, but something catches me off guard.

"Elliot," I whisper under my breath. What's so bad about his name that he couldn't have just told me? To be fair, I never ask. I place the ID back down, his name ringing in my ears. I put on my jacket and make my way back to my apartment.

Once inside, I smile with the idea that it's finally Friday, but the thoughts of work yesterday come flooding back. Pacing around, I begin to feel anxious again. What the hell am I supposed to do? What is this promotion anyway? I take a look at my apartment. I think of all the bills I have to pay and all the food I have to buy in order to survive. I'll make my decision when I get there. After climbing into a business-casual outfit (it's Friday, am I right), I lock my door and begin my decent to the underground to catch my subway.
