Chapter 1
The punches were thrown blood spilled on to the floor. I watched in horror, barely being able to keep my eyes open at this horrific sight. I buried my head in Tyler's arm as he laughed at me.
"Come on, Storm, watch," Tyler pokes me as he continues to watch the fight.
"I can't; it's horrible," I said, pointing at the tv.
We were currently in Tyler's basement watching a boxing match between these two fighters that I did not know the name of with Ty, who enjoyed every minute of it.
I, on the other hand, wanted to puke.
"Ty, turn that off. I don't understand how you like this," I say. Tyler let out a chuckle. "Fine. But if I didn't like it. I wouldn't be in school," he said, grabbing the remote from the table, switching the channel into a random one.
"Ya, and I still don't get it," I said, crossing my arm. He rolled his eyes.
"Of course you don't," he rolled his eyes giggling.
"Hey, I've gotta an idea!" I said with excitement in my voice. "Why don't you teach me boxing!"
He looked at me, scrunching his eyebrows, wondering if he had even heard me right.
"What?" He asked.
"You should teach me boxing," I said once again, this time, putting my fist up in punching motion.
"Hahaha, you're hilarious," He said, pushing my hands away.
"Think about it. I could learn self-defence in any case of someone ever attacking me, and besides, you would be teaching me, and it would be super fun," I told him. "I mean technically in this town, I don't think I need to worry about that, but maybe in college for sure," I said.
"You'd be surprised," he mumbled.
"What?"
"Nothing. But do you think you can do it?"
"Of course. Have you seen these guns," I said, flexing my none existent muscles.
Tyler's chuckled and finally said: "Fineeee," he stretched the e. "But I can only teach once a week and when I'm able to come home," he said.
"Yes, yes, ah, I can't wait!" I yelped in excitement. Tyler smiled at me, watching as I jump up on the couch.
"I really like your hair, sunshine," he said, twirling a piece of my hair in his finger. I had cut my hair short a couple of days ago to have a fresh new change and look. It was shoulder-length shorts, and I quite liked it.
"Thanks," I smiled a little awkwardly, not used to receiving compliments that often. But I appreciate it. Ty gave me another smile before taking his hand off my hair.
"Anyways, Liam is coming back tonight," he said, turning my focus away from my excitement, and my face fell.
Liam Stone. Tyler's awful and cruel brother. The boy who I haven't seen for precisely three weeks.
"Are you ready to see him?" Ty asked curiously.
Of course, I wasn't. If I could have it my way, he would never return, but was that any better?
" I don't know," I shrugged my shoulder.
Liam had left for football training in Kingston for three weeks. It was odd since it was in the middle of the school year, but all of them had gone, including Isaac and Luke.
This also gave me the chance to be free from him, even if it was for a short while.
But I couldn't stop thinking about him in those last couple of weeks. Even if I was free from seeing him physically, he was mentally always there, and I hated it. My mind kept racing with thoughts of him that made me want to scream.
Especially after what happened before he left.
But it was over now. He was back at school tomorrow, and I had no idea if anything changed.
The weeks Liam confessed that he had feelings for me and as much as I hated, I knew I did as well, but I knew deep in me I couldn't forgive him for all the horrible things he did to me all these years.
And for Noah.
The boy I was in love with. I couldn't betray him. Even if I already did by falling for his best friend.
"But I have to be," I said. Tyler gave me a smile rubbing my hair.
"You'll be fine. My brother may be a jerk, but you can handle him," he laughed, kissing the top of my head. I smiled at him. "Thank you," I said. "Now, will you please put something else on," I pointed at the tv.
He chuckled. "Here you choose," he handed me the tv remote.
-
I arrived home a little bit later than expected. After spending most of my days at Tyler's, I had forgotten even to keep track of time.
But I knew I had to leave soon before Liam did arrive home. I knew I had to face him sooner or later, but I rather it be later than sooner.
I walked into my room, exhausted. I stretched my back feeling the sudden pain from sitting on the couch for way too long, suddenly hit me.
I moved to my bed, falling back first onto it. I stared at the ceiling of my bedroom. I was thinking about everything that might happen tomorrow.
I wondered whether Liam still felt the same way, and if he did, what would I do? It wasn't like I was going to do anything either.
I knew I wanted everything to change. I didn't want to be afraid of him any longer, and I wanted to kill whatever I felt towards him because I knew to feel this way towards him will at the end of the day, only destroy me.
And I wasn't going to let that happen.
Liam Stone was not going to ruin the rest of the year for me, and I wasn't going to let him either.
I had no idea whether I would be strong enough to stand up to him and face him tomorrow, but I needed to try because I put up with him for way too long.
And that needed to change
And tomorrow at school when I do finally do meet him, I'm going to be ready because if I weren't now, I knew I would never be.
-
This was it.
I was going to walk through that door, and I would face reality in which Liam was back.
I took a deep breath sucking in all the air. And I walked in.
I tried my best not to look for him, and I instead looked for Sarah.
I was scanning the hallways to find her standing with the new girl. Skyler Davis. Or just Sky. She was Nathan's half-sister.
Skyler was short, and I mean really short. 5'1 at best. But she was a naturally really aggressive and strong girl, and I admired that about her. She had delicate tan skin with beautiful curly pouffy hair and dark eyes.
She had transferred to school only two weeks ago, along with Nathan. They had moved here since their dad had transferred hospitals permanently.
"Hey," I said. They both looked my way and smiled.
"Hey there, Storm Norm," Sky said, snapping her fingers together and pointing at me. Sarah and I stared at her, raising our eyebrows.
"What? I couldn't think of anything that rhymes with Storm except for norm," she shrugged her shoulder. We chuckled at her innocent yet childish personality.
She as well was really into theatre and musicals. She had joined the drama class the second she arrived at school here. She was terrific too, and she had a powerful voice.
"At least it's better than Sarah's umbrella," Sarah said.
"Okay, fine, I admit it. I'm not the best at rhymes," she placed the back of her hand on her forehead, twisting her ankle and looked away from us like she was in a dramatic play.
Sarah and I continue to laugh at how silly she could be at times.
"We forgive you, Skyler spider," I said. "Ya, it's all good, Sky spy," Sarah said, crossing her arms both of trying so hard not to burst into laughter.
Skyler turned back to look at us. "I hate you both," she said, giggling. Before we did all fall into fits of laughter.
"Anyways, where's Nathan? I haven't seen him anywhere," I asked, looking between both of them.
"Honestly, my brother is everywhere when we do not need him, but nowhere when we do," she giggled. "But he's still home. He texted me saying he was going to be late cuz he slept in, and I, of course, didn't wait and just left,"
"Classic Nathan," Sarah said, shaking her head.
"Definitely," I said with a laugh.
"Um, who are they?" Sky asked, her eyes fixed on something behind us. Her mouth was slightly opened.
I felt a slight chill ran up my back as I closed my eyes, sucking in my breath once again in preparing myself to turn and face who I already knew was behind us.
I knew I couldn't have avoided this. I obviously would have seen him today, and it was better to get over this now than suffer later.
The three weeks had gone by in a blur, and suddenly, I couldn't remember the time where he was gone.
I turned my head slowly, meeting his eyes almost right away. The butterflies in my stomach erupted as his signature smirk appeared as he looked at me. His hair was grown out slightly, and he had a few scrubs on his face, but it was still the Liam I had kissed four weeks ago. The same Liam that told me he had feelings for me and the same Liam I had rejected.
He was back like he had never left.
Isaac and Luke walked alongside him. All three of them are watching us. I had almost thought they were going to stop in front of us, but they didn't. They walked right past us.
I was glad because I wouldn't have known what to do if they did stop in front of us.
"Damn, they look like trouble," Sky scoffed, placing her hand on the locker.
"Trust me," my eyes still on them as they strode away. "They are."
