Chapter 2: Email

After BTS left, we were dismissed, as well. They gave us instructions first to wait for the email if we were hired and complimented our works, as well.

Nakalutang pa ata ako nang lumabas. My mind was still drifting to what happened earlier. The feeling of their big hands in contact with my trembling one and the way my eyes got in contact with them.

"Hey, good luck."

It was the model I was assigned with earlier. Kevin.

"Thank you." I smiled though I could literally feel myself not fully processing what he said.

He smiled back at me and waved goodbye.

I let out a deep breath before walking.

So... I guess this is where I start, huh? If the world wants me to have this job, then maybe I should just accept it? Besides, if having this job means I have to see them every time, then who am I to refuse such a very good offer. I have been wanting to see them ever since so why not just treat this as a big opportunity?

I shook my head. Why am I already acting like as if I'm already hired when there's no such confirmation yet. What if I won't get hired? What if there's someone that's more better than me and I get rejected?

I sighed. Why am I even stressing myself out? I didn't even plan to enter the building, moreover take a job in this place!

I withdraw from the thought and continued walking, now with a concrete decision to just go home and maybe get crazy in my hotel room, screaming and all.

I was near the exit of the building when I saw the woman who pulled me earlier walking in a fast pace.

"Hey. How did it go?" She asked, smiling, when she spotted me.

She's so nice, I thought.

"I think... uh... I think it went well," I answered, pairing it with a nod so it'll be more convincing.

"Yeah? Then, I'm glad. Good luck, hun." She tapped my shoulder and smiled before leaving.

Sinundan ko siya ng tingin habang naglalakad. She's a bit taller than me and she's sexy. It was obvious with her red pencil skirt and her ruffled top. She's like an angel... And she was like the reason of all these luck today.

I went home and decided to treat myself with food delivery. I ordered a lot even though I'm all by myself because I wanted to celebrate.

I was on the middle of opening the plastic cover of the food when my phone rang for a call.

"Ma..." I answered.

"Anak, kumusta ang Korea?"

I was immediately in all smiles. "So beautiful, Ma. And, uh..." I trailed off, debating whether I'll tell her or not that I applied for a job. She'll surely freak out!

"Yes? May gusto ka bang sabihin?"

I bit my lower lip.

"I... love it here, Ma," I said, instead.

I heard her laugh heartily. "You always love it. When did you ever hated it?"

I smiled. "Right."

"So, I conclude you're enjoying there?"

"Sobra po."

"Then, that's good. You should take your time enjoying it there so you'll be in a better mood when you come home and go back to work."

I bit my lower lip again. Here she thought of me going back to work when I go home and here I am thinking if I will get hired as a makeup artist in BigHit.

"Sige po, Ma," mahinang sagot ko, hindi nagugustuhan ang pagsisinungaling sa ina.

Nag-usap pa kami saglit and she told me to send her some pictures which I obliged. After that, I went back to spoiling myself with foods.

I was in a good mood for the whole day. For the next two days, I was out again to roam around to kill time and entertain myself, secretly being weary because I haven't heard any news about the job and haven't received any email.

I was sitting in one of the benches one afternoon, holding a milktea in my right hand, and facing the tall Namsan Tower from a distance. People were flocking in front of me and it was envying to see a lot of couples walking with intertwined hands. Para naman akong nagmukhang out of place rito.

I frowned when a couple passed through while feeding each other with some ice cream. Seriously, people here doesn't really care what other people may say. And I might say, I love it. Do what you want, fuck what they say.

I returned my eyes at the tall tower from the distance. Kailan kaya ako makakapunta riyan? Well, it's near from where I am right now but not entirely near, and I don't really feel like going. I'm contented with watching it from afar. Well, at least for now. Maybe someday, I'm gonna be able to land my feet in its premise, too.

I sipped on my milktea and took my time until the sun finally hid itself. The whole city came to life when all the lights lit in unison. The view was breathtaking and relaxing!

I took a lot of pictures on my way home. I was even on the bridge of thought of what it may feel to live in here, permanently.

The people around were busy with their own businesses while I am here, on the side of the road, waiting for my chance to cross it.

I turned around and saw a man in a hoodie and shades. He's tall basing on how he towered over me.

"Excuse me?" I asked with my forehead creased.

He flashed a smile. My forehead creased even more.

"Who are you?" I asked again.

He took off his shades and my jaw dropped.

"K-Kev-" I was cut off when he motioned me to shut up.

He laughed. He seemed like he's enjoying it so much. He then pulled me to cross the road and walked to an opposite direction from where my hotel was located.

"Hey, where are we going?" I asked, trying so hard to keep up with his pace.

"Kain tayo."

"You know how to speak Tagalog?" I asked in disbelief.

He was forced to stop too when I did and he faced me. He smiled. I was weirded out a bit but my surprise weighs higher than it.

"Maya na tayo mag-usap. Gutom na ako." He then pouted and went to pulling me again.

Weird. Why do they seem like they're hiding?

We took a seat in the far corner and he ordered food for us when a waiter arrived. He then took off his shades and hood before fixing his hair.

I looked around, still wondering why do they seem to hide their identity.

"This restaurant is for artists."

Napabaling ako kay Kevin nang magsalita siya.

"Artists? You mean, singers, actors, actresses... Artists?"

"Yes, Tryza."

My eyes went wide and looked around again.

So that explains the hoodies and the shades, huh? I wonder who are the artists that are present here with us tonight?

"Then, why am I here? I'm not an artist," I asked, feeling anxious now.

"It's okay. Artists usually go here so they could eat in private. It doesn't matter whom he's or she's with."

"Talaga? Baka mapalayas ako rito mamaya, ah."

He chuckled. "Hindi 'yan."

Natigilan ako at muling nagtaka sa kung paano siyang nakakapagsalita ng tagalog. I was about to throw a question but he eventually saw the question in my eyes so he fed me with information.

"I'm a half Filipino."

My eyes widened a fraction. "Half Filipino?" I asked in surprise because it doesn't really show! I can't see any physical traits that will prove that to me.

He laughed. "I am."

"Then you're from the Philippines?"

He sipped on his water before answering. "Well, I was born in Pampanga but was raised here. Though, I visit my grandparents there from time to time." He shrugged.

Okay, so that explains why he knows how to speak Tagalog. He frequents Philippines!

Napatango ako. Somehow, it felt great to know that someone could relate with my language. I feel like I am home in an unfamiliar country!

"Well..." I smiled. "It was nice to meet someone from my own country," I said, loosening up.

"It's my pleasure to meet you, too." He smiled.

We went quite when the waiter arrived to serve our foods. He ordered a lot! I was familiar with some of the dishes but most were unfamiliar.

"So..." He trailed off when we started eating. "How did your application go? Did you receive an email?"

"I'm sure they're gonna send you an email soon," he said, smiling.

"I don't know. Baka hindi ako tanggap."

"Oh, come on. You did a great job back there. Jimin hyung even complimented you, remember?" He cheered me up.

Ngumiti na lang ako. I appreciate the way he cheers me but I would rather have him not if I'll just end up failing at the end of day. I'm not a great fan of sugarcoated words. I'd rather have an honest opinion than to have my hopes high.

I found out that his mother died when she gave birth to him and that he was taken here by his father when he was two.

I got used to Kevin immediately. Hindi naman siya ganoon kahirap pakisamahan. He's actually fun to be with and entertaining.

"Do you know that BTS hyungs were the one who approached me when I was still very new? They are so nice! No wonder they have been receiving such a lot of luck for the past years."

I smiled. "They are."

I insisted to pay for my own food but he didn't let me, saying that he's the one who dragged me there so he's taking responsibility. Well, reasonable enough so I let him. I also found out on our way back that he's living in the hotel across mine.

He asked for my email so we could communicate and I nicely gave him my account. We were in the middle of talking about the places he had explored when I felt my phone vibrated for a notification.

I took it out from the pocket of my coat and my eyes immediately went wide after reading it.

"Oh my God." I stopped on my tracks and looked at Kevin, stunned and greatly surprised.

"What's wrong?" Kevin asked.

"I got accepted!"

Nanlaki ang mga mata niya. "In BigHit? Really?"

I nodded profusely.

"That's great! What does it says?"

I showed him the email and he seemed truly happy after reading it.

"You'll be one of their makeup artists!" He exclaimed.

I nodded again excitedly. Later that night, we end up drinking some wine for a celebration.
