Chapter#6

["So what's your type?"]

["I don't know. But nowadays, I think I'm getting crazy."]

I regretted my restlessness. Walking out from the hospital, I'm anxiously bothered if Jeonghan realized the meaning behind my not-so direct confession. Well at the first place, why did I fall in love with that guy?! Stupid me!

"Good evening miss Xindy," a baritone voice called me at the parking lot. My feet stuck at the ground when I saw secretary Wonwoo standing from great distance. Yes this is our 2nd meeting but still, his handsomeness strike me out. "Let me take you home." He opened the door for the passenger's seat.

The sky is lonely for some reason. Thinking that it would probably rain soon, I've accepted his generosity and then hopped in his car. We didn't get much closer after our dinner date before so right after I sat down beside him, I've felt the big wave of AWKWARDNESS. This man is handsome, quiet and arrogant. Basically, our personalities clashed.

Inside his car, air conditioned was set low. Car engine can be heard and except that, there's only our breaths that filled the surroundings.

"It's raining," he broke the ice between us.

Somehow, the breathe I've kept on holding before has finally released. "Yeah," I said after glancing at the front window. Wonwoo put the Viper on, and just watching at it entertained me a little.

"So tomorrow is your day off," he said before turning the wheel for a U-turn.

"Yeah," I repeated the same answer I gave few seconds ago.

  "What's your plan for tomorrow?"

  "Well, I..."

Wait a minute. Something was off. I don't remember saying about my day off to him.

"How did you know about my day off?" I asked in slow pace.

"Based from your conversation with Sir Yoon. I've heard everything– from the time you said about the work rotation and to the time you locked his room. EVERYTHING."

His nonchalant face frightened even more. I suddenly remembered my bold answer to Jeonghan, saying that Wonwoo is not my type. It's like proudly talking behind someone when he's unknowingly presents.

"You're not my type too," Wonwoo added.

Since it's not healthy to keep this conversation going, I wisely diverted the topic. "Since when did you work for Jeonghan?"

Or maybe that was unwisely because I maybe sounds like someone who's only interested at Jeonghan?

"He was my friend when we were kids," he answered.

Wonwoo said 'was' instead of 'is' and 'when we were kids' not 'since when were kids until now.'

"I think its hard to work under a friend," I commented, thinking that my guess was purely misunderstanding. "You called him sir. Right?"

"No. Calling him sir is more easy that calling him the way I did before."

For them to stay together even if they can't call each other as friends, there must be stories from the pasts which made them think like this.

My imagination went wrong when something popped inside my head. 'What if... they love each other?''

"Anyway, sir Jeonghan matched us up not because we're suited for each other. He just does it with any girls around us. My standards are high. I like pretty woman."

Okay. So they aren't gay. Phew~

Even I knew that neither of them is good for me. They are too far from my level if we're talking about appearances.

After he talked about his idealism, we went on without talking. Rain is still pouring down but it isn't that heavy. And then, we arrived at my place. Secretary Wonwoo parked his car at the road side.

I unbuckled my seatbelt before my head turned to my side and saw the narrowed alleyway. Since his car won't fit, I have to walk down on that alley to get home.

  "Thank you," I uttered.

  "Do you have any umbrella?"

  Ooooops. Right. I don't have.

"I'll use my bag to cover my head. Then..." I was on my way out when Wonwoo suddenly held my wrist.

"You can't. What if you got sick after this? Don't run under the rain," he said.

His words sound very foreign to me.

Was he really this kind hearted person?

"We need healthy person to help us," he added.

My eyes drooped after I heard his explanation. Yeah yeah. They need my help.

Wonwoo released his grip from my wrist and picked up an umbrella from the back seat. I thought he will lend it to me but he suddenly hopped out with the umbrella and even opened the door for me.

"There's no need for this," I murmured while jumping down from his car. "Just lend me the umbrella and I'll give it back to you tomorrow."

Wonwoo rose his brows then clicked his tongue. "Then what about me? If I will give this to you, then I'll get wet on my way home. So I am doing this for my sake also."

I thought he was being gentleman but in the end, his arrogant attitude remained strong

Speechless, I decided to walk with him under the same umbrella. I heard the beep sound from the back which means he didn't forget to lock the car. Good thing he did because there's lot of robbery case in this area.

Not my concern but we really do walk in silent. All I can hear are the sloppy sounds of our foot steps, the gentle drip of the rain on our umbrella and the whoosh sound of the winds.

I don't know if it was only my imagination but the rain is getting heavier as seconds passed by. I guessed I was right after the heaven cracked with flashy lightning and growling thunder. My feet forced to stop because Wonwoo did stop. His hand clenched around the umbrella's holder and though it's kinda dark, I could see his blank face.

'Is he scared?'

We walked again. But when another lightning and thunder roared in the sky, Wonwoo halted our march. That's when my curiosity hit the bottom.

"Are you scared from lightning and thunder?"

"I'm not." His voice was steady. However, action speaks louder indeed.

He was denying the obvious fact but whenever there's lightning and thunder, his feet always stuck at the ground. We went on with pause and play, pause and play, pause and play on our march that my house which isn't that far became the peak of the mountain.

Finally... I arrived in front of my apartment building. That was surely tiring, geez.

"Thank you again secretary Jeon. Take care on your way h..."

Another loud thunder cracked as if someone from above is shaking the world.

"Ahhhh!" I shouted then covered my ears. I'm not afraid of these but I'm not ready to die yet. Walking out could be dangerous. What if secretary Jeon got struck by a lightning while walking back on his car? That would be funny... I mean! Awful.

"Secretary Jeon, if you like, you can stay in..."

"Miss Xindy. Let me stay at y-your house f-for a moment. P-Please," he stuttered. His trembling hand reached mine, clutching it so hard.

My night before my day off would be long.

To be continued...
