Chapter Twenty Nine
Chapter Twenty Nine
Days past by and the ground is covered by a blanket of snow. We are getting close to the end of November and the weather is showing it.
I'm not the kind of person why gets sick very easily or often but today is another story. I feel horrible. My nose is running, my body aches and on top of that I can barely keep my eyes open.
"You look miserable." Lily tells me. "Are you sick?"
"Probably. Maybe." I say, coughing.
"Why are you here? You're gonna get everyone sick."
"I'm fine. I can last until school is over with."
Lily shakes her head. "No you're not. You can't even keep your eyes open. You're coughing like an old person and you're squeezing uncontrollably." She points out."You're going to your room."
"I can't leave."
Lily crosses her arms. "Well you're not staying here." She turns her head to the right and calls for Hayes.
I frown. "What are you doing?"
"He's taking you to your room."
Hayes walks over to us. He takes one look at me before agreeing with Lily.
"Go get dressed." He orders me.
Standing to my feet, I head back into the locker room and changed back into my school uniform and pull my coat around me. I walk out the room and Hayes is talking on the phone. He motions for me to follow him.
"Yes. She's with me right now. I'm taking her back to her room. She's sick. It might be the cold."
He allows the other person to speak. "I'm not wasting my time to see Olivia. She's going to tell me what I already know and Millie needs to rest."
They speak for a few minutes before Hayes hangs up. "Selena is informing your teachers and Olivia about your sickness "
I nod my head. "Thank you."
We step outside and I shiver. I wrap my arms around my body.
"I'm going to get the car." Hayes tells me before running to get the SUV. He pulls up and I hop inside the warming vehicle.
He drives to my dorm building and I step back into the cold. I hurry inside the dorms and Mrs. Devanney glances up when she notices our presence.
"Princess Millian what happened this time?"
"She's not feeling too well. Selena sent her here and Olivia is coming to check up on her." Hayes anwsers for me.
"Well it is that time of the season to get sick. Make it quick." Mrs. Devanney says before going back to filling out a paper.
We head to my room and Hayes stays with me despite Mrs. Devanney's order.
"You can leave you know that, right?"
"Yeah. I do." He says. "I'll have Selena gather all your assignments so you won't be behind in your classes."
"Thank you."
As soon as he leaves, I change out of my uniform and trade it for something more comfortable. I'm putting my hair up when there's a knock on the door.
I opened it and a lady is standing there. She has blond hair and green eyes. She is young no older than thirty. She has to be Olivia.
"Hello, Princess Millian. I'm Olivia." she greets me.
"Hi."
"Can I come in?"
I move a side and she walks in. I sit on the edge of my bed as she begins to pull out a long stick with cotton at the end of it.
"Can you open your mouth?" she asks.
I do and she looks inside the back of my throat with a little flashlight.
"Your throat is super red." she notes. She place the back of hand on my forehead and frowns.
She digs into her bag and pulls out a thermometer. She sticks it in my mouth and waits. She glances at the numbers.
"102.3" She says. "That's not good. I don't think you have the cold but the flu. I won't know actually until I run some tests. Can you open your mouth one more time and stick out your tongue?"
I do as she said and she picks up the cotton stick and moves it into my mouth. She circles around my mouth and I start gagging.
"Sorry about that." She says, bagging my DNA up. "I'll be back in twenty minutes."
She leaves and I lay back and close my eyes for a few minutes. Next thing I know I'm sleeping.
You know when you fall asleep and it only feels like minutes but actually it was hours? Yeah that's happened to me. But instead of hours, it's minutes.
Olivia wakes me up and I slowly get out my bed. I open the door.
"I have good news and bad news." she says. "Which one do you want to hear first?"
"Bad so I can have something good to look forward to."
"Okay. Bad news is you have the flu and I have to give you a shot. Good news is you don't have to go to school for the rest of the week."
I frown. "Why can't I go to school if you're giving me a shot?"
"You can't do any physical activities for five days and the shot will help you get over your sickness."
"Okay. Will it hurt?"
"A little bit." she says honestly.
"Let's just get to over with." I say, lifting up the sleeve of my shirt.
"You're not getting a shot in your arm." she informs me.
I drop my arm and look at her. "Then where am I getting it at?"
"The shot is too strong for your arm so you're getting it right above your butt."
"Are you kidding me?"
"I wish I was." she say walking inside my room. She closes the door.
Sighing, I pull my pants down a little and she cleans the area with alcohol before she insert the needle into me.
And let me tell you the needle doesn't hurt but whatever she injected me with does. She places a pink bandage on it and tells me to get some rest before she left.
I climb back into my bed and doze off to a place I would know in a heartbeat. A place where my memories where abandoned. A place where my mother once lived. Arsyn.
