Chapter Thirty Seven

Note eight appears on the day of the Christmas Show. I was heading to Guardian Lynn's class when I notice a white piece of paper sticking out my gym clothes I was carrying.

It said: The one you thought you could trust, is the one you need to watch out for....

I don't trust alot of people for numerous reasons. The ones I trust with everything is Lily, Reid and Hayes. But I know it's not them that's doing this to me. If I make my way down my trust list it will be Lucas and Sophie. Yet again, I don't see them doing this to me either.

I'm the last one to enter the locker room so I quickly change into my gym clothes and I'm about to walk out when the door opens, abruptly.

Locking the door, Lily grabs me by my arm and heads away from the door. I look at her with a confuse face.

"What's wrong?"

"Do you remember when I told you not to freak out?"

I nod my head slowly. "Yeah..."

"Well...you're gonna freak out because I've been getting a lot of visions about thoses notes you've been giving. I don't know who the person is but they're up to no good. Those notes are the least of your worries. Something is about to happen and it's closer than you think." She shakes her head. "You're gonna get-"

She cuts off by the pounding on the door. Our heads whips to the direction.

"Lily! Millie!"

It's Sophie. She tries to open the door but the doorknob just rattles.

"Why is the door lock?" Sophie questions. "Nevermind. Guardian Lynn is about to begin his lesson as he calls it." She informs us.

"Alright!" I tell her before looking at Lily with a concern look. "What's about happen to me?"

She dismisses it. "I'll tell you later. Let's go."

We leave the locker room and Guardian Lynn yells at us for taking so long in the locker room and of course there's consequences.

After we finish our punishment, he starts his "lesson".  And let's just say it's pure torture. When he described everthing we were going to do, I already feared it but actually doing the so called lesson, it's Hell.

"Move those feet!" He yells. "If you stop I'll add ten more seconds!"

Sweat is drenching every inch of my body and I glare at everyone. They better not stop.

Right now, we are doing quick feet. Those movements football players do when they have to move their feet quickly and then the coach would blow the whistle and the players would drop to the ground and get right back up. Yeah we're doing those.

It was supposed to be for thirty seconds but of course there's at least one girl who would stop moving their feet when they thought Guardian Lynn wasn't looking and he added ten more second.

"Drop!" He shouts.

We all drop to the ground and start our third and final round of burpees. We do twenty-five of them before he starts another leg work out.

We run down and backs continuously for five minutes before we do abs work outs.

"I hate this" Sophie mutters beside me as we do our minute planks.

"Same." Laura says.

Next we move on to benchers around the whole gym. And let me tell you, the gym isn't small.

"Come on Vanders!" He yells at Ava. "My five year old daughter can do better!"

"Maybe cause she's used to your crazy ass." Lily says, sitting behind me.

Just as I thought we were done, Guardian Lynn made us do pull ups. If this is what he calls an easy work out, I hate to see what he had planned for the training guardians.

Finally, we're done and I swear everyone drops to the ground. We're all out of breath. Tomorrow is going be Hell for us. I can already feel the soreness creeping in.

"See that wasn't so hard." Guardian Lynn says and we all glare at him. "Tomorrow will be a fun day."

Lily grabs my arm and pulls me up. We head into the locker room and no one rushes to get dressed.

"I'll kill for a shower." Daniella says, sitting down.

"I think everyone would." I reply, taking my hair out my ponytail.

I walk out the locker out with Lily five minutes later. And our guardians are leaning against the wall. Reid opens his mouth to say something.

"Reid, I swear on One Direction if you say something stupid, I will not hesitate to punch you in your face." Lily interrupts him.

Reid presses his lips together and takes a step back.

I glance at Hayes and he's giving me a sympathetic face. Sophie joins us as we're walking out the gym.

"If that's what you guys went through to become a guardian, I'm glad I didn't sign up to be one." She says.

"Ours it a little more worse than that." Hayes says.

"Are you serious?" Sophie asks in disbelief.

"Yeah." Reid replies. "That was just a taste of Hell."

Lucas appears out of no where and wraps his arm around Lily's shoulders.

"Who made you mad?" He asks with a smile.

"Freaking Vance." She mutters.

Lucas glances at us.

"Vance killed them." Reid says.

"More like murdered us." I correct him.

We walk inside of the cafeteria and I grab two cold waters as I grab my food. We sit at our usual table and Daniella and Laura plot their revenge on Vance. Lily and Sophie happily agree to help. I tell them, I'll vouch for them if they get in trouble. The guys just laugh and shake their heads.

The day goes on and I walk into Mr. Dean's class. We don't do much but go over the songs for tonight. Pretty sure, school is over but I don't go to my room yet.

Mrs. Kovok wants to talk to me and Lily about tomorrow.

"I know we already discussed this but I just want to ensure you nothing will go wrong tomorrow. Eveyone already knows what to do and Guardian Cipriano and Guardian Gage will be very alert more so than already." She says.

"I don't think we have to worry about Ramadi coming." Lily says.

"Why's that?" Mrs. Kovok questions.

"Because he knows we'll be expecting him. I don't know him very well but I can say if he wants us, he's gonna take us by surprise." Lily tells us.

"Lily's right. Ramadi isn't stupid enough to walk up here and try to take us knowing there's not a slight chance of winning." I add.

Mrs. Kovok nods her head. "I see where you're coming from but just to be on the safe side, there will be more guardians."

We leave the building and head to the dorms. When we reach the dorm building, I groan and so does Lily.

The guys exchange glances.

"What?" Reid asks.

I point. "Stairs..."

"Legs." Lily adds.

"Dead." We both say in unison.

I glance at Hayes and he motions for me to get on his back and I oblige happily.

Reid rolls his eyes. "Somehow I know I'm gonna regret this." He turns around, signing. "Hop on."

Lily grins as she jumps on his back. She wraps her legs around his waist and her arms around his neck. Reid loops his arms through her legs.

"I swear if you kick me, I'll drop you on your little ass." Reid says.

Ms. Devanney glances up. "What's was that Guardian Gage?"

"Nothing, Ms. Devanney." He tell her smiling innocently.

It drops the second he turns around and they made their way up the two flights of stairs. I rest my cheek on Hayes's back. I could fall asleep little this.

We reach our dorm room and I hop off Hayes.

"No wait." Lily says. "Don't put me down yet. Carry me to my bed."

"Are you serious?" Reid asks in disbelief.

"Yes, now get moving."

Rolling his eyes, Reid opens the door and carries Lily to her bed. I face Hayes and give him a quick peck on the lips.

I smile. "Thank you."

"How many times do I have to tell you to stop thanking me?"

I shrug. "Sorry. I can't help it."

"Hayes, man, hurry up." Reid orders. "We need to go before Lily orders me to bring her some food or something."

Hayes rolls his eyes and I smile.

"See you later." I tell him, opening my door. As soon as I step foot into my room, I head straight for the bed. I fall onto it and my eyes close shut.

Not long enough, there's a knock on the door. Groaning, I roll over, praying that whoever it is will go away.

"I'm not leaving, Boo."

"Hayes" I groan. "Give me five more minutes."

He chuckles. "Sorry, princess, not happening. Get up."

Sighing heavily, I force myself out my bed. I head to my mirror to brush my bed hair before I open the door.

"I'm sleepy." I state.

"I know but you have one more thing to do before you can go to sleep."

"Alright let's go so I can get this over with." I say, heading to the staircase.

Going down the stairs is easily than coming up them. I push the door open and step outside the chilly air. Sometimes I forget we're in the middle of no where Montana in freaking December.

It stopped snowing two days ago but now it's starts back up again, lightly.

"Next time, bring the car." I say shifting my eyes from the sky to Hayes.

We make it to the building and there's four buses there outside. I head straight for the gym. And the room is already starting to fill up.

I walk to the back where everyone is and Sophie's eyes brighten a little as she smile.

Mr. Dean gets our attention and he goes over the order of the songs once more before it's time to begin. Mrs. Kovok walks onto the stage to give an introduction.

Mr. Dean motion for us to get on the stage as Mrs. Kovok get near to the end of her speech. We pile onto the stage and the curtains are pull back. We start off slow.

Then we change the song to Joy to the World.

As we sing the last three lines, the girls makes our way to the side of the stage so the boys can sing Jingle Bell Rock.

A smile crawls on my face as I watch them being silly. The kids enjoy their goofy performance. They laugh at the boys. Then it's the girls turn to sing Deck the Halls. After we get done the special team goes get ready as the other sings First Noel.

"I can't believe I'm putting this nose on." Lucas mutter, sticking the red nose on his nose.

"You'll be fine." I shrug. "You never know, Lily might like it."

Our special group number begins and the kids get all excited to see us dress as reindeer. They all "aww.." when we start being mean to Rudolph but they get happy when we let him into our circle and show him some love.

Dasher, Dancer,
Prancer, Vixen,
Comet, Cupid,
Donner, and Blitzen..
But don't you forget,
Rudolph the red nosed reindeer..

We quickly exit the off the stage to help with Mary Did You Know. Greg starts us off.

Mary, did you know

Zach:

That your baby boy, would save our sons and daughters?

Helen:

That your baby boy, has come to make you new?

Sophie:
And this child that you delivered will soon deliver you

Ava:

Xander:

That your baby boy, will calm the storm with his hand?

Lucas:

Ashley:

That your baby boy, will one day rule the nations?

Millie:

That your baby boy, is Heaven's perfect Lamb?

All:
The sleeping child you're holding is the great I am

We finish the song and as they clap for us we get ready for the second special group number. Ava got her wish, we didn't have to dress up like sugar plums. The kids are in awe as they realize we're making music with just our mouths.

Lucas:
Can’t you see those lovely sugar plums, dancing here, dancing there, dancing all around?

We dance all around as he sings.

Ava:
Can’t you see those lovely sugar plums, jumping here, jumping there, jumping up and down?

We jump there, here and up and down.

Sophie:
Can’t you see those lovely sugar plums hopping here, popping there, never make a sound?

We hop here and pop there without making a sound.

Ethan:
They’re so yummy, in my tummy, nice and gummy, sugar plums!

We finish the song and they claps for us as we get ready to sing our last song, O Holy Night.

Once we are done performing, they give us a standing ovation. It's suppose to be a Christmas Show but it turns into a Christmas Party. The teachers brings out drinks and food as their Christmas music playing in the background.

It looks like I'm not going to sleep anytime soon. I think to myself.

I look at what Lily has in her hand. "Did you record us?"

She glances down at the camera. "Yeah..." She says. "I thought Abe would want to see it since he couldn't make it."

I know Abe is the king and he had important things to do but would it kill him to show up to one of our events. He couldn't make it to the Stand Up to Cancer performance because of a meeting. He didn't make it to the Halloween Bash because he was busy and he didn't come today for who knows why.

"Make sure you have that tomorrow. I'm sure he wants to see our birthday party." I tell her, sarcastically.

"Millie I'm sure Abe will come."

I roll my eyes. "Why?"

"Because he's our dad. He already missed so much in our lives already. I know he doesn't wanna miss our 18th birthday."

The party ends and I can finally go to my room. Hayes carries me up the stairs again. Yeah I'm going to dead tomorrow.

As soon as I get inside my room, I head for the shower. I let the hot water roam my body. What I really need is a message. I stay in longer than usual before cutting the water off. I dry off and throw on my clothes before falling on my bed.

Not soon enough, I fall asleep and dream of a person massaging my back, getting rid of all the knots.
