Chapter Thirty

I stand on the realm thousands of miles away from Earth. I stand on my home planet. My eyes look at every little detail of it, taking it all in. Abe was right. Arsyn was a beautiful place. There is a statue standing right in the middle of the place. It's tall. It looks like it was made for everyone and everything to see. I walk closer to it. The statue is a woman. She is beautiful. She has a sword and her face is alert. I walk around her to see if she has anything else but instead I find another woman attached to her. She looks just like the other girl. She is also beautiful. Instead of a sword in her hands, she holds an arrow. They are aware and ready for anything and everything. Who are they?

"They are Jarlyn and Zarana." A voice says behind me.

I spin around, startled. I thought I was alone. A woman in her late forties appears in front of me. She has bright blonde hair. Wait. Everything is bright. I can't make out any other feature. I recognize her voice but I don't recognize her.

She smiles at me. "Hello Millian." She walks closer to me. "My name is Ali. You probably don't remember but don't be afraid. I am a friend."

"How do you know me?" I ask.

"You're the Princess of Arsyn. Everyone knows you."

I look back at the statue and Ali does too.

"Jarlyn and Zarana are the guardians of Arysn. They watch over everything and everyone." Ali explains. "Hundreds of years ago, they gained their powers. No one knows exactly how they gained them. They were the very first. They were brave and kind. They fought many heroic battles. They kept the peace as long as they could. But even they couldn't see Tartarus coming. He was too powerful. Too strong. Jarlyn and Zarana lost to him. They might have died that night but their spirits and hope continued to live on."

"Who is Tartarus?" I ask.

"Tartarus is an evil hatred monster. He was created from evilness and destruction. He turned alot of people against Jarlyn and Zarana. Many hated them and loved Tartarus. Wars bloomed for years and after their deaths it died down for a while."

I frown. "You mean, Arysn wasn't always joyful?"

"No. New guardians took the place of Jarlyn and Zarana but each one of them fell to Tartarus. And each time Tartarus got stonger. Finally, we managed to break Tartarus. He went into a deep sleep. But it won't last for long. The spell will break very soon."

The pieces clicks together. "Ramadi is trying to wake Tartarus."

Ali nods her head. "Jarlyn and Zarana started the spell before their fall and Chaisen and Douln finished it."

It all makes sense now. "That's why Abe didn't want any one to know about us."

"Exactly. But Ramadi figured it out. Arysn wasn't safe for you and your sister. Fights broke out to get you but-"

"Our mother stopped him. She died saving us. But it wasn't enough. Ramadi came back again during her funeral."

"Yes so Abe had no choice but to flee. Arsyn was no longer a safe place."

They were the first. Their spirit continues to live on. Ali words echoes in my head. I look back at the statue.

Jarlyn and Zarana their name in Aryic means "seer" and "siren". I look back at Ali and she is gone. The information hits me hard.

"They were the first seer and siren." I say as my eyes fly open and I abruptly sit up from my bed.

A knock comes on my door. I open it and it's Lily. Her expression tells me everything.

"You know." I say as she walks in.

"Ramadi needs our powers to wake Tartarus."

I nod my head. "If he gets to us, all hell will break loose."

Lily runs her fingers through her hair. "I'm scared."

I hold on to her. "I am too but relax. Ramadi will not come near us."

She looks at me. "Our birthday is in two weeks. Ramadi is coming whether we like it or not."

"What else did you see?"

"Destruction." she whispers.

Reid and Hayes barges into my room and we look at them.

"What's wrong?" Reid asks.

"You have to find Ramadi before it's too late." I say. "Tartarus' day is arriving soon."

Hayes' P.O.V.

They know. They know Ramadi's plan. They figured it out. Abe didn't want them to know about Tartarus. He didn't want them to be scared but it's too late for that. I look at Reid and he nods his head. He picks Lily up and leads her out the room. Millie's eyes never leaves the floor. Tears fills her eyes. She's scared for the future.

I sit beside her and she speaks.

"This is overwhelming. Ramadi killed my mother and..."

"I know." I tell her.

She shakes her head. "No. You don't know. You don't know how it feels to be the bridge of destruction and you can't do anything about it."

"You're not the bridge of destruction. You are the hope this planet needs."

"I'm scared."

"I know you are but don't be." I tell her. "I made a promise to keep you alive and safe and I'm going to keep that promise."

"You're always so confident."

I grin. "I have to be or how else would I make you see there's nothing to worry about?"

She gives me a small smile. "Thank you."

She pulls me in for a hug and I hug her back. "I don't know what I would do without you."

She could live a long happy life without me but me I would die without her. She is my weakness. She is my world. She is my everything.

She pulls away and she looks into my eyes. Her eyes darts down to my lips and before I know it she is kissing me.

I kiss her back and she brings me closer to her. This kiss isn't soft and gentle no it is rough and hard.

Not long enough, she pulls away. She realized what she has done. She drops her arms and looks anywhere but at me.

"I'm sorry." she says. "I don't know why I did that."

You do know why. You feel the exact same way I do. Is what I want to say. But I don't. Instead I get up and make my way to the door.

"It's okay." I lie.

She doesn't say anything as I walk out the door. I walk away from the girl who holds my heart in the palm of her hand.
