Chapter Six

We walk inside the massive headquarters, dragging our suitcases behind us. Everyone greets us with a welcoming smile as they pass by us.

"Have you seen Abe?" I ask one of the maids.

She shakes her head. "I think he's still in his meeting"

Lily looks at me. "Do you think we can barg in there and demand for answers?"

"That seems like a good idea but we would have to get by those guys" I say, pointing to Abe's buff guardians, blocking the doors that leads into the meeting. "And I don't think we can take them in a fight."

Lily quickly agrees with me. We head to our rooms and to my surprise, Lou and the rest of the gang isn't in there, readying to pounces on me. I throw my suitcase on my bed before falling back onto the bed.

I wasn't alone for ten minutes until Lily comes running into my room, wearing a smile bigger than the world.

"I have an idea" She tells me, sitting down beside me.

I arch my eyebrow. "An idea for what?"

"Aren't you a little curious about the meeting?"

Up to this point, I forgot about the meeting. But Lily made a point. I was getting curious, now.

"Maybe" I tell her. "What's your plan?"

She grins. "There's another door that lets us see the meeting but we have to sneak pass the guards to get to the other side"

I frown. "How did you get pass the first time?"

She bites her lip. "I didn't. They stopped me before I could get a good look of it."

"So you just got a glimpse of the meeting?"

She nods her head. "Yeah but it seems like they were agruing over something."

"Let's go find out." I say, hopping off the bed.

"What about the guards?" She asks, following behind me.

We head down the stairs and I peek around the corner. The two buff guards were still blocking the doors. This meeting must be really important.

"Okay" I say. "This is what we're going to do"

After telling Lily the plan, we're hiding in a cleaning cart. I was press up against Lily and her back is leaning on a rail.

"Next time I'm making the plan" She tells me, as one of the cleaning maids, pushed us down the hallway we need to go down.

She didn't noticed the sudden change of weight as she moved with ease. She comes to a stop.

"Lily stick your head out to see if we're pass the guards"

"You stick your head out" She tells me.

Rolling my eyes, I pry back the thin white curtain and come face to face with the grand windows.

"We're pass the guards." I tell her, sticking my legs out. The maid looks down, scared. I motion for her to be quiet and she goes back to cleaning the windows.

Ducking behind the cart, I move quickly to the door with Lily behind me.

Lily straightens up when we pass the wall, concealing us from the guards. She turns her head.

"Did you know there's stairs that leads to this hallway?"

"What?" I turn my head to see stairs. "No." I say. "If I had known that we wouldn't have been riding in the cart."

I made a mental note to remember to use the stairs next time. We move to the door and open it. It's a tight fit be we manage to both see the ongoing meeting.

"I don't care what you think is best for them" A guy around Abe's old says to Abe, mad. "You need to think about the Arysian people."

"I am thinking of them, Nathan." Abe tells him. "Morches don't negotiates with any one. They only care about themselves."

Why are they talking about our enemy? No good can come from them. They're evil creatures, who feeds off the innocents.

Nathan crosses his arms. "It doesn't seem like it. They will be eighteen soon. They deserve to know."

I exchanges with Lily. They were talking about us and the Morches. Why?

"If you think I'm letting them walk into danger, then you better think again." Abe retorts.

"We're not asking for them to walk into any danger." A female says. "We know what happened to Allison-"

She's cut off by Abe. "Then I expect you to understand, Monica. They're the only thing I have left."

What happened to our mother? What did they do to her? What do they want with us?

None of my questions were answered because a new voice joins us.

"What" He asks, making us jump."are you doing?"

We turn around to see Hayes staring at us with questioning eyes. The thing about being in a small spot you couldn't move as much. So when Hayes decided to scare us, I fell against the door leading inside the meeting and it pushes opening. I fall back, along with Lily.

Every heads turns to watch us. I laugh nervously as Lily puts on a small smile.

We're so busted.

"What are they doing here?" Nathan asks. "Get them out of here"

"No." Abe says. "Let them stay." He looks at us. "It's time for them to know the truth. It's time for them to know everything"

I stand up. "Know about what?"

Abe looks at me with sad eyes. "It's time to know how Allison died and the reason why you come here."
