Chapter Forty
Chapter Forty
My eyes open very slowly and the first thing I feel is dizziness. The next thing I notice is that my arms are above my head and my wrists are chained to the brick walls.
"About time you decide to wake up."
I move my head up from the dirty floor to see the person I least expected to kidnap me. Sophie stands in front me with her arms folded across her chest.
"Why are doing this, Sophie?" I ask in a tired voice.
She rolls her eyes. "Like I'm gonna answer that question right now. You're gonna be here for awhile." She pauses. "Or until they figure it out."
"Figure what out?" I say, sarcastically. "That your freaking crazy?"
She smiles. "Sweetie, they're never going to figure that out."
"Of course they are. They're going to notice you're not at the school, either."
"Don't worry about that. I have it all covered. For their concern, I got kidnap too and if it all goes well, you'll be long gone."
"Don't do this, Sophie." I tell her. "Let me go."
"You really think I'm gonna just let you go after all this? No. I'm not. You're gonna stay here until I get bored or something. Then the real fun begins."
"What are you talking about?"
"I'm not just gonna leave you chained up in here. That would be too easy and nice. Instead I'm gonna have fun torturing you and enjoy the sound of your screams that echoes off the walls."
I stare at her in horror and disbelief. Who is this girl? As I look in her eyes, there's no sign of deceptions. She's mean everything she said. I close my eyes hoping it's some type of dream. Then I remember something.
My eyes flies open."Where's Lily?"
Sophie rolls her green eyes. "The little tramp got away back at the club. We lost her on the highway. As much as I would've got a kick off hurting her, I didn't have time to go after the slut. " She looks down at her nails. "Oh well. She's probably dead by now or close to it."
I sigh in relief. Lily isn't here. There's still a chance for help to come. I pray she can make it there in time and that she's alright. I can't feel her through bond but maybe that's because I'm still drugged up.
"I've should've listen to Lily when she told me not to trust you."
Sophie shrugs. "Should've, could've, would've."
I narrow my eyes. "I'll put all my money that you're the one behind the notes I've been getting."
She snorts. "That would've been money wasted because it wasn't me."
"Then who was it?"
She smirks. "Someone you're quite familiar with."
As soon as she says that, the rusty metal door opens and in walks the guy with the broken heart.
Kyle.
Although he doesn't look too heart broken right now. As I stare into his used to be warm brown eyes, they're cold and warmth is no longer welcomed.
"Kyle." My voice is broken. "Why?"
"You hurt me in the worst way possible." He spits. "I told you I hated cheaters and you became one."
Our conversation races in my mind and tears fills my eyes.
"I'm sorry" I apologize.
"It's too late for that." He says angrily. "I bet it wasn't even real for you."
"It was." I say. "It really was."
He laughs without any humor. "It's that way you cheated on me twice?"
I put my head down when I can't handle looking at him anymore.
"That's what I thought." He replies.
"How did you find out?" I ask.
He scoffs. "That was too easy. The first time I knew you cheated on me is when Hayes disappeared for two days. You were acting weird and I had a hunch it had to do with something that involved him moping around. The second time is when you avoided me and then you broke up with me. Our relationship could've last for little longer. I mean look at Lily and Lucas they're still hanging on. So my only conclusion was you cheated on me while you were with Abe."
He really is observant. I can't blame him for it, either. I pretty much broke his heart while I went on with my life, happily.
"It wouldn't have worked anyway." I respond. "Even if I didn't love Hayes, we wouldn't have worked out."
"Well... we'll never know, would we?" Kyle says.
"No I know." I look at him. "You don't understand me completely."
"You never gave me chance to understand you. I could've been the best thing you ever had."
I shake my head. "You're not the best. Not to me. And as much as I don't want to admit this, we both know why I went out with you."
He crosses his arms. "And why's that?"
"It's because I needed love in my life and you were there that night when Steve called me those horrible names."
Sophie rolls her eyes. "I told you Kyle."
"I know but I thought she was different." He says, lowly.
"You told him what?" I ask.
"I told him, you were no good and just because you're the princess doesn't mean you deserve to be worshipped every single second." Sophie says. "But Kyle wouldn't live that. He wanted a chance with you. He wanted to be worthy for you. But he needed help, obviously. So I paid Steve a fair amount of money to call you all those 'horrible names'."
My eyebrows furrows together. "You paid Steve to call me a whore."
"I think I just said that." She says. "It actually turned out really well. You fell for Kyle's hero act and what was really funny. " She smirks. "You hated Ava when really you've should've been hating me."
I slowly shake my head. "You two are perfect for each other."
"Too bad we don't think that." She says. She glances at Kyle. "You ready to have some fun while she's still awake?"
"Yeah why not." Kyle says as Sophie grins evilly.
I remember what Sophie said earlier about torturing me whenever she felt like it. I back into the old wall, trying to get as far away from them as possible.
"Make sure you scream as loud as you can." Sophie says, walking to me.
"Don't do this, please." I beg.
She rolls her eyes. "Kinda too late for that, don't you think?"
"What do you wanna do?" Kyle asks Sophie.
She answers, immediately. "Let's make it where Hayes won't recognize her pretty little face anymore."
Kyle nods his head as he cracks his knuckles.
Hayes' P.O.V.
Reid quickly gets dress and follows me out the door. I rapidly fill him in and he listens carefully.
"You think it's Ramadi?" He asks once I'm done.
"I don't know what to think." I say, honestly. "If it is him, then we're in trouble."
As we're walking to the car, I see Lucas heading our way.
"What are you doing?" I ask him, opening the car door.
"I'm coming with you guys." He says.
"No you're not." I say, firmly. "It's too dangerous."
"I don't care." He tells me. "She's my girlfriend." He pulls the door handle and hops in.
I don't say anything because I know exactly what he's feeling right now. I hop in and start the car.
"Where are we going?" Reid asks.
"We need to see how they manage to get in." I inform them.
I drive to the girls' dorm building. Putting the car in park, I climb out and they follow. I point to where the gate is.
"There. The guardians on patrol should've been there."
They follow my gaze and notice it at the same time. There's nobody there. It's empty.
"Where are they then?" Lucas says, still looking at the gate.
"That's a good question." I reply. I check my watch. "A new shift should've began an hour ago."
"Meaning..." Lucas trails.
"Meaning that whoever took them, knows our patrol schedule." Reid says. "They've been watching us for a while now. Every two hours, they switch post. It takes five minutes to get to the spot."
Reid's on to something. Five minutes doesn't seem like a lot of time but it really is. In five minutes, Ramadi can sneak in and out without being detached.
"So where's the other guardians?" Reid asks.
"We need to find them." I say. "Reid head to the east and see if someone is there. Lucas go west."
They nod their heads before heading to their destination. I walk to the gate and as I get closer, I can see two figures laying in the snow.
I run to the one closest to me and check for a pulse. James. He's alive, barely. I check the other one, Lance, and he's the same way. Whoever did this to them, must've took them by surprise. James has a bruise neck and Lance has a broken nose and a bruise jaw.
I already know what happened. The attacker put James in a deadly headlock while he sent his elbow flying straight to the Lance's nose. Once James was unconscious, he punched Lance in his jaw to make sure he's knocked out.
From the looks of it, they've been out here for over an hour. If I don't move right now, they're most likey going to die. I pick James and throw him over my back and grip Lance by the back of his coat and begin to drag him through the snow to the car.
Once I reach the car, I place the guardians inside. I climb into the driver's seat and head to Lucas.
If I'm right about this, then the same thing happened the the other guardians as well.
Whoever this person is, is observant but impatient. He had this attack planned probably a week or so . It almost sounds like Ramadi but I'm pretty sure he isn't him because he isn't this sloppy.
He wouldn't have just walked up in here and knock just the surrounding guardians out with so much evidences. He isn't that stupid. No, Ramadi is the type of guy who leaves no trail behind.
I get to Lucas and he has the two guardians with him.
"They're up but they can't keep their eyes open." Lucas informs me, placing the guys inside of the car.
"Whoever this is, is trained but not highly?" I say, driving to the other post.
"Why's that?"
"Because only rookies would leave this much evidences in their place." I tell him. "Experienced guardians knows how to take out their opponent without leaving so many bruise and mistakes."
Lucas doesn't know now but next semester, Vann is going to teach them all about pressure points. So far, he's been teaching them how to teach out Morches but occasionally, pressure points are needed.
I put the car in park and Lucas and I hop out the car to recieve the guardians. They're awake but by the looks on their faces they're in pain.
"What's wrong?" I ask.
"That son of a bitch, broke both of my legs and my earpiece." Dan grunts.
"He broke my arm before knocking me out." Stewart informs me.
"Okay, I'm not going to lie, when we move you, it's going to hurt." I tell them and they nod their heads.
I grab Dan and Lucas grabs Stewart. They cry out in pain as we move them. I try to walk carefully so I won't hurt Dan anymore but we need to get them medical attention immediately.
Lucas opens the very back of the car and we place them inside. I drive to the last post but Reid is no where in sight. He must've took the other guardians to Olivia already.
I head to the medical station and I order Lucas to go get help. He rushes off and not long enough, two guys are racing to the car.
They put Dan on one of the beds and Stewart on the other. They're in need of major surgery. They rush them inside and I grab James and head inside.
"Where do I put him?" I ask Olivia.
"Right over there." She says pointing to an open bed.
I do. I'm heading back outside when Olivia stops me.
"Who the hell did this to them?"
I don't look at her as I answer. "I don't know but I intent to find out."
