Chapter 1

"A small fox was being chased after by some bad men that wanted to capture her, but the small fox was a survivor. She had been injured by the men, who were also known as hunters, her hind legs were damaged. One leaking blood as it had a bullet stuck deep inside her flesh as the other was merely grazed, though the small fox kept running until the pain made it nearly unbearable to even stand, let alone run."

A lonely man had been peacefully walking along the edge of the forest when out of the corner of his eye, he saw a white bundle of fur covered in red on his side of the road. He hurried over yet stayed cautious in fear of this being a trap or an illusion. Once he was close enough, the man knelt down to inspect the bundle of fur. He slowly reached forward to examine it before he recoiled as the bundle of fur snapped at him with sharp canines. A small gasp erupted from his throat and pain was visible in his eyes.

"Who would do such a thing to a gorgeous creature like you?... Do not worry little one. I'm one of you," he muttered at the small and frightened fox.

The small fox sniffed his outstretched hand before gently nuzzling it. Once the man, who was known as Lucas, gained her trust, he picked her up and rushed back to the small house he lived in for the time being. Lucas tried to sooth her by humming softly, especially when they walked into his house. He glanced around his place before spotting a red towel on his couch from the day before. He grabbed the thin cloth and placed it on the ground, gently setting the injured fox on the red towel. A flash of panic went through him, the second she passed out from the blood loss. He hurried up, grabbing the tools necessary to help take her the bullet out and to wrap it up.

Time began to blur as he began to extract the bullet from her leg, his eyes trained on making sure the bleeding stopped. Once the bullet was out of her, he began to clean the wound and wrap it up. After Lucas played doctor he washed the rest of the caked blood and dirt off of her. Throughout all this, the tiny fox never awoke and laid still, minus the breathing, through the whole night. He had placed an alarm for every two hours to change her bandage and to make sure she was still breathing. Every time he saw her chest rise a sense of relief would bloom in his heart and spread through his exhausted body....
