Outline 5 | Chapter Two of 'The Name is Nya' For No One
I sighed, walking into the bridge where the rest of the ninja were. I dropped my helmet by the door and made my way to the computers, my brother watching my every move. "What is it this time?" I asked, logging onto my servers.
"Something seems off in the city, my spirit smoke is not responding either." Sensei Wu told me. I rolled my eyes and turned around, leaning against the desk. "So, you're asking me to find something that may not even exist?" I asked him, my arms folded across my chest.
"Precisely."
I turned back around, clicking everywhere I can. "This is what I get for leaving." I mumbled to myself, my fingers typing faster than I can think. "Wait!" Lloyd called out, causing me to freeze. I slightly turned my head, seeing him run up to the screen. "What's that?" he pointed out, a small file trapped in the corner of the database.
I ran the courser to the place he was pointing and opened it up, "It's just an old file I recorded back with the Serpentine." I sighed, closing it off. "Are you alright, Nya? You aren't very focused." Zane questioned. I continued typing, answering his question without turning around, "I don't like that question." I warned.
I walked to the printer, pulling out the sheet I just printed. I stepped over to the table, pulling out a stamp from the desk. I pressed it in ink and slammed it onto the paper, observing the file. I looked up at Sensei and held out the paper, "All the crimes from the past month." I noted, him taking the paper.
"This helps, thank you, Nya." he said, walking out the door with Misako following. I stepped back to the mainframe computer and started swiping the screen, trying to find a pattern in the crime records. "Can I talk to you?" my brothers' voice spoke up. I didn't answer, not wanting to talk to him. "Nya..." he pleaded, walking to my side, pulling my wrist.
I tugged it away and didn't take my eyes off the screen. "I don't want to talk about this." I softly said, going to steer the Bounty. I knelt down, starting to check the gears and mechanics. Kai groaned and stood above me, waiting for me to stand up. "We're going to train." Cole said, breaking the silence.
I stood up, watching them leave. Kai still stood near me, his arms across his chest, "You lied to me." I flatly told him, taking one step back so we weren't so close. "It was to protect you, you have to understand that."
I shook my head and pursed my lips, "No." I responded, "I-I don't. Because I don't get why I'm a twenty-one year old standing in front of my brother, having to explain why I don't get why he lied about my parent's deaths! Don't you trust me?!"
"Of course I do, Nya. I just worry about you, I want to keep you safe."
"Kai, I reached my true potential, I stood side-by-side fighting with you and dressed up like Lloyd, running around with ghosts! You think that would be some reassurance that you shouldn't worry about me!"
"We just got Cole back to normal and have Lloyd back. I cannot have anything happening to you, too."
"That's the thing! I was a Samurai, I disguised myself as a stupid kabuki with Dareth!"
"You are still my baby sister, Nya."
"I'm sorry that I'm mad at you for not telling me about my parents twelve years ago! I deserved to know! I-I just wanted to say goodbye." I yelled, tears spilling out of my eyes. My voice grew hoarse and I turned around, away from Kai. I lifted my right arm and began to wipe my tears, hoping Kai would just leave me alone.
"I'm sorry, Nya. I should've told you, I-I'll just go train."
The door closed and I was left alone. Alone to think about the many ways that conversation could have gone. I looked out the glass window to see the ninja crowded around Kai, he had his hands on his head as he looked over the edge of the ship. I sobbed to myself, sliding my back against the wall, I tilted my head up and cried into the ceiling, trying to reach my mom that is there when I need her.
Sensei's POV (Well Damn)
I walked onto the upper deck, hearing the commotion in the bridge moments earlier. I fear this will break our team apart. Some of my students may side with Kai and the other with Nya, the closest relationship of the team has just been broken, and I think it will be harder than the kids think to fix it.
"What happened now?" I questioned the fire ninja, stepping to the side of him. "Nya's broken, and I don't know how to fix her." he softly told me, I glanced up through the window of the bridge to see the water ninja sitting against the wall, sobbing. I sighed, "Iron sharpens iron, sibling sharpens sibling." I told Kai before walking away.
I understand this will be difficult but we all need to be unified if we want to discover and defeat the new looming threat that not even I know. I feel it is time for some team building supersizes. I opened the door, poking my head inside, "Nya, we are outside for team building, please join us."
"Yes Sensei." I heard. Satisfied, I smiled to myself. I stepped onto the wood flooring of the upper deck, my hands behind my back. "Ninja, it is time for team building. Nya will be joining us." I informed my pupils. They all bowed and continued their training until Nya arrived, I honestly didn't know if she was going to be in her gi or her suit, but she came in her gi.
I smiled and stepped aside for her to hop down the stairs, standing near Jay. I pondered over how to pair who with for our first supersizes. Jay and Nya seemed like a logical choice, and Nya has to be strong enough to catch her partner, but I decided against it. But Lloyd trusts everyone, so who to pair him with. Zane is very logical, and Jay likes to run his mouth. "Hmm, alright. Cole and Zane. Nya and Kai, Jay and Lloyd, these are the first pairings, then I'l switch you again."
Nya glared at me before joining her brother, the others had no problem together. "Nya you're up here with me, Kai you're going to catch her. The rest of you, decide one partner to come up here and do the same." I directed. Nya sighed and climbed up the stairs, Lloyd and Zane following behind her.
Kai planted his feet beside Cole and Jay. Nya looked the most nervous out of all. She stood on the very edge with the other two boys next to her. She folded her arms across her chest, touching her shoulders, the other boys following pursuit. "Do you trust your partners?" I asked at once. "Yes." Lloyd and Zane responded but Nya lowered her eyes at me, "You're crazy." she told me, all before I pushed her over the edge. She closed her eyes and fell silently right into Kai's arms.
"Don't you dare drop me, Jay." Lloyd warned, so, there is a bit of trust issues here. "Don't worry, I got you." Jay replied, a smile on his lips. "I'll catch you, frosty." Cole added.
The two students fell back, each being caught perfectly. "Can we not do that again?" Nya asked me, brushing off the bottom of her shirt. I chuckled and shook my head, "Who do you trust the most, Nya?"
"Easy, Jay." she quickly responded. Jay proudly smiled and I nodded, "Interesting. Well, then you're paired with Zane. Kai with Jay, Cole with Lloyd."
Cole and Lloyd gave each other high-fives, Kai gave Jay a side-glance, not trusting him with his life. Nya shrugged and walked towards the titanium ninja. "This time, one person will close their eyes and be directed to the edge of the Bounty. The other partner will catch the falling with their dragon, understood?" I asked them. Nya looked around with disapproval, she looked at my and sighed, "You're giving me serious trust issues."
I smiled as Nya tied her mask around her eyes, standing next to Jay and Cole who were also falling. "Lloyd will catch me, but I think you should be worried about Kai." Cole told Jay, nudging his arm. I walked to the edge and held Nya's arm, planting her to the side. Zane stood by me, ready to jump off the edge. Kai seemed uneasy about this plan.
"Alright, now I'll tell you where to walk and then Zane will hopefully catch you." I reminded, "We're going to have some problems if you let me fall." Nya told Zane.
"The odds of you surviving this drill are--" he began, "Never tell me the odds." Nya threatened, ready to start walking. Some of the students chuckled but Kai was biting his nails in worry.
"Turn left." I ordered. Nya hesitantly turned her body left, holding out her hands to try and feel anything. "Now just keep walking forwards."
She slowly took steps one by one until she reached the very edge. Nya took a deep breath before walking over the edge. The ninja gasped, seeing their teammate fall. But she didn't scream, she must have trust for Zane. Speaking off, Zane dove off the edge, forming his dragon. They reached Nya quickly, swooping under her. She landed on the back of the animal and yanked off her blind-fold, searching around her. She kept her balance and looked up at me, smiling. They reached the deck once more, Nya hopped off and tied the mask back around her neck.
Jay and Cole performed the exercise as well, flawlessly just like Nya did. I smiled as the ninja talked with one another, their bond growing. "One last activity. Cole and Nya, Jay and Zane, Kai and Lloyd." I said, watching the sky grow dark. It was almost time for dinner.
"You'll use your weapons for this one. One partner will stand against the pole here." I said, placing my hand on the post. "Cole will stand here, as will Jay and Lloyd." I continued, "This is specifically those with the pointing weapons, such as aeroblades or daggers, a sword and shurikens."
Jay gulped, "I don't like the sound of this." Cole and Lloyd agreed, "I don't either." Cole said. I walked over to the post, letting the three students retrieve their weapons. "This actually might be safer for Cole if he stands against the wall." Nya suggested, pointing to the kitchen wall. I nodded and Cole trudged over to the other side of the deck. Nya tossed her daggers in the air as Cole got situated.
"The partner will throw their weapon as close as possible to the other partner. Understood?"
"Yes Sensei." everyone said. "Just do me a favor, Nya? Tell me when you're go--" Cole began, Nya chucked a dagger at Cole, landing right above his head. His eyes widened and he remained perfectly still. "Trust your partners' aim." I advised.
"I trust you, Nya. I trust you won't kill me." Cole spoke up as Nya landed another dagger beside his ear. I chuckled and continued to observe Nya's aim. "For once I'm not the test dummy." Nya said aloud, throwing her last dagger. It wedged itself a centimeter to the right of Cole's arm.
Nya dropped her arms and nodded at her work, "That was fun." she announced, walking back to me. Cole stepped away from the weapons, looking back at them. "Well, I'll never underestimate your aim."
