Song: Sparks by Coldplay

I picked this song because I know it'll hurt you guys even more while reading this chapter 🙂

=====

That night, Hoseok couldn't sleep.

His mind wouldn't rest, the image of Yoongi's red eyes and tear-struck cheeks wouldn't leave his memory.

It... it hurt. The knowledge that he was the cause of those tears hurt. He couldn't recall ever feeling this much pain the first time he saw the older cry. This one left a sick feeling in his stomach— like he committed an unforgivable crime.

Hoseok took Yoongi's first kiss out of selfishness and he felt like a total jackass for it.

The mint-haired male told him he's had his first kiss. The younger should've known better than to believe him.

He didn't know why but he was actually... scared. He had never felt that much regret and pity toward someone. What if Yoongi decided to call things off?Why was he suddenly so scared of losing the guy?

The brunet wanted to use the reason that it was because he wouldn't be able to hang out with Jimin anymore. But no. His guts told him that that was no where near the real reason.

He closed his eyes, remembering the little talk he had with his mom before they left the house. He could practically hear his heartbeat drumming through his ears.

"Here's some snacks for the drive back." Hoseok's mother handed his son a bag full of food, speaking in their native language. His parents weren't fluent in English, hence why the brunet learned how to speak Korean despite being born in the US.

"Eomma, we'll just get food once we get there." The male laughed, trying to push the bag back in her arms. She wouldn't budge, hiding her hands behind her back like a mischievous little kid.

Hoseok gave in, opening the car door and placing the snacks in the back seat. He shook his head fondly at the thought of his mother always getting things her way.

"Is Noona not up yet?" The brunet questioned, closing the car door.

"No, she's been sleeping in since she came back. Just because she released a new line of sleep wear last month, doesn't mean she should actually use it to her advantage. The lazy bitch claims it's her way of self-promotion." His mother complained with a tsk. Hoseok laughed, recalling the close mother-and-daughter bond the two had.

His eyes then landed on Yoongi, the shorter male smiling along with the brunet's dad while they talked on the porch.

The younger had been avoiding him since they woke up in the morning and he was sure the mint head caught on when Hoseok refused to talk or make eye contact during breakfast.

If he was to be honest, Hoseok was afraid to speak to him after Yoongi told the brunet he loved him. He wasn't exactly sure why he was so scared.

Momma Jung noticed her son's staring, a soft grin taking over her slightly aged features. He inherited her heart-shaped smile, his mother always boasted about how she's had it first and how both of her children were simply her 'mini-me's.

"I don't know what you two fought about but I hope you're able to get pass it soon." She sighed, hugging the male from behind and resting her chin on his shoulder despite her tiny frame.

Her son attempted to look at her but her eyes were casted toward Yoongi. "We didn't fight, Eomma." It wasn't a lie, the brunet was just too much of a wimp to admit what happened.

She hummed, clearly not believing him. "Well, whatever happened, fix it. I like him, Seok-ah. He's a nice kid— the boy's only got eyes for you. Don't let this one go, I can tell he's a keeper."

Hoseok looked back at Yoongi, the older male flustered when his boyfriend's dad pulled him into a tight bear hug. A hue of pink decorated his pale face but his arms still managed to wrap around the older man.

The brunet didn't notice the fond smile he wore after seeing the wholesome scene between his boyfriend and father.

His mouth spoke for him when he whispered a "Yeah? You think so?"

Momma Jung pecked his cheek, ruffling his hair. "I know so."

Present Day

The day after Yoongi's sad two-month anniversary, Seokjin invited the guy to have lunch with him.

They both didn't have any classes for the afternoon so the younger couldn't really say no. It was pretty weird that one of his boyfriend's friends asked him to hang out. Whenever he was with them, Hoseok was usually around.

Yoongi could only hope that things wouldn't be awkward with just him and the older guy. Though he was kinda glad that it was Seokjin out of the four because he was the closest to the mint head.

"Are you trying to cheer me up, Jin?" The younger laughed weakly, poking the food with his fork since he hadn't had much of an appetite after coming back from break. "Hoseok probably told you what happened, huh?"

"Damn, straight to the point, Yoongs?" Seokjin joked though pity was smudged all over his face. "Yeah... he did. I just wanted to do something for you as an apology for my asshole of a friend."

"You didn't have to but thank you. I appreciate it."

They talked for a bit and the mint head was starting to get comfortable with the older male. He was glad he agreed to lunch since it was also a way to get away from Jimin. The blonde had been worried sick about his best friend but Yoongi hadn't found the guts to tell him about just how miserable he was.

Yoongi was the older brother and he wanted to keep it that way. He wanted to protect and comfort his 'little sibling' not the other way around. Jimin had always seen him as the stronger one and— though it put a lot of pressure on him— the mint head tried his best to live up to that expectation.

Seokjin and Yoongi's conversation started steering toward Hoseok at some point but the younger didn't mind. He needed to vent to someone that wasn't his best friend and it would be good to finally talk to someone about his feelings.

"Jin, can I tell you something?" Yoongi bit the inside of his cheek. Seokjin nodded, attention focused solely on the younger male.

The shorter had built a sense of trust toward the the guy throughout the few months that they've known each other. If it were any of Hoseok's other friends, Yoongi wouldn't have been as comfortable with sharing his thoughts.

"I-I'm starting to think he never liked me a-and I feel guilty about it. Isn't it a bad thing to doubt your own boyfriend? Yet that's—that's exactly what I'm doing and I feel horrible about it." The younger admitted.

He really didn't want to suspect anything from Hoseok when he finally had someone that chose him over Jimin. The blonde had admires over admires. Not one person considered Yoongi as more than his own best friend's shadow. Was it so bad to want to believe that— just for a moment— someone saw him as a first choice?

Yoongi was mentally exhausted. The only people that ever saw him as his himself were his own parents. Everyone else only referred to him as 'Jimin's best friend' and never 'Yoongi Min'.

Seokjin reached his hand out to hold the other's shaking fingers.

"I-I told him I love him. I didn't expect him to say it back but I also didn't expect him to h-hate me for it." The younger's eyes glossed over with unwanted tears but he refused to let them spill. "I-I've never been in a relationship before so everything's new to me. I depended... I depended on him to guide me through every step but h-he never even held my hand once through any of it."

Yoongi wiped his eyes with the back of his hand before continuing. "My parents used to tell me stories about how they met, how my dad would sweep my mom off her feet, and how my mom was my dad's whole world. They made finding love sound so easy yet here I am, a college senior on my first relationship— barely standing on my own feet after only two months.

"I... I wish I had a love story like my parents'." The younger whispered, unconsciously tightening his fingers around the raven head's.

Seokjin already felt bad about Hoseok's shitty plan but after hearing how horrible Yoongi felt while being oblivious about his relationship's hidden memo, he wanted to smack the shit out of the brunet.

Though it was a tempting thought, the older wasn't going to snitch on his own friend. It would've been the right thing to do but he also didn't want his boyfriend's best friend hating him for the rest of his life.

What he did plan on doing was to talk some fucking sense into that empty-headed baboon of a dance major.
