The next day, Jimin left the dorms earlier than his best friend. Their hometown was farther from campus than Hoseok's house so he needed to drive an hour before.
Yoongi sat impatiently on his own bed while he waited for the brunet. His fingers nervously fiddled with the silver bracelet around his wrist, the one his boyfriend gave him for his birthday.
He was about to meet Hoseok's parents. Who wouldn't be drowning in anxiety knowing that they'll be meeting their boyfriend or girlfriend's birther and sperm donator? Exactly.
A knock on the door pulled him out of his thoughts, the mint head immediately scurrying to the doorknob. He swung the door open, slightly startling the brunet on the other side.
"Someone's excited." Hoseok laughed.
"The complete opposite actually." Yoongi groaned, stepping aside to let the male in.
"Jimin still here?" The younger questioned, looking around the small dorm with his hands in his pockets.
"He left earlier."
Hoseok hummed with a nod before finally pulling the older in a tight hug.
Yoongi couldn't help but notice a pattern. His boyfriend would always need a confirmation that Jimin wasn't around before doing anything remotely affectionate toward the mint head. He didn't know why it bothered him. The blonde's gotten pretty close to Hoseok so there was no logical reason for him to feel uncomfortable with even just hugging his best friend in front of him.
But like everything else, he let it slide for the time being.
"Seokie, I'm scared." The smaller male admitted in a whisper, cheek pressed against his boyfriend's shoulder.
"Of meeting my parents?" Hoseok assumed, the older nodding. "Don't worry, they're nice. They'll welcome you like any one of my other friends."
That made Yoongi tense, lifting his head to look up at his boyfriend. "Friends? A-Are you introducing me as a friend?"
He knew he shouldn't be upset about it— the brunet probably had a good reason as to why he wanted to keep their relationship hidden— but it still made his stomach drop.
"Yeah... I just don't want them to make you uncomfortable with their clinginess if I told them you were my boyfriend, bub." Even Hoseok himself didn't know if his own words were a lie or not. He's been feeling a little conflicted about himself these past few days.
"I don't mind." Yoongi insisted in a small voice, fiddling with the hem of his boyfriend's sweater.
"Just trust me, okay?" The brunet let the smaller go, grabbing his luggage for him. "I already have my stuff in the car so we're ready to go."
The older only nodded obediently.
After a four-hour drive, the couple finally arrived in front of Hoseok's house.
Yoongi was clearly upset throughout the whole ride though every time his boyfriend asked if he was, he'd deny with a half-hearted smile. Hoseok knew it was because of the whole introduction thing but he chose to let the situation go until they landed in their destination.
"I'm still scared, Seokie. Even if I'm just your friend to them." The mint head shakily unbuckled his seatbelt, stepping out of the car while the younger turned off the engine.
The house was pretty much like every other two-story house in the block— tan exterior with white accents. The only thing that differentiated it's structure from the other's was the extended front porch with a wooden swing bench hanging to the left of the entrance. It was appealing to the eye and gave a more pleasant welcoming than the neighboring homes.
"You'll be fine, Yoongi. Come on, we'll get our bags later." Hoseok ushered the older with a hand on his back, lightly pushing him toward the front door.
They reached the porch, the brunet ringing the doorbell for the both of them. Rushed footsteps were immediately heard from the other side of the door. A petite woman— almost half a head shorter than Yoongi— swung the door open, screaming in joy as she launched herself on Hoseok.
The brunet hugged her tightly, lifting her off her feet in the process, heartwarming laughs escaping their grinning faces.
"Gosh! I haven't seen you in months, Hoseok!" The lady whined, lightly slapping the said male's arm.
"College's been stressful, Noona. I barely even have free time during the weekends." Hoseok informed her.
"Ah, sucks for you. I already graduated from that hell." The woman, who Yoongi now knew was the older sister that his boyfriend proudly told him about, boasted. She finally caught sight of the mint head who had coward into himself when she widened her eyes. "Oh! Who's this?"
She flashed Yoongi a welcoming smile before her younger brother turned to the shorter male. "Yoongi, this is my sister, Jiwoo, the one that had her own clothing line that I told you about."
The mint head displayed his gummy smile, bowing his head a bit to show a little respect while he waited for his boyfriend to introduce him. "Noona, this is Yoongi. He's staying with us for the whole break. He's my...uh—"
Yoongi looked up at him, waiting patiently with innocent eyes. Hoseok made the mistake to look back at him, seeing the cute sight only made him curse himself.
"He's my boyfriend."
The holidays passed in a blink of an eye. Yoongi was also introduced to Hoseok's parents shortly after meeting Jiwoo. The brunet told them that they were dating which the elderly couple were more than glad to hear.
They had a heavy Korean accent while speaking English which the mint head found adorable. It was a good thing that his own parents taught him how to speak Korean, giving him the opportunity to communicate with them in their native language. That definitely gave a good impression to Hoseok's mom and dad.
Yoongi felt more comfortable in his boyfriend's house than he originally expected. Christmas was amazing with the rest of the brunet's relatives over. They exchanged gifts to which Yoongi got a warm sweater from Hoseok and Hoseok got a matching silver bracelet from Yoongi. The older even received a present from his boyfriend's parents and sister who got it for him last minute. The mint-haired male felt guilty that he couldn't do the same but they assured him that there was no need.
New Years was fun with the fireworks. Hoseok's whole family watched stood in the living room along with Yoongi, watching the ball drop on the NYC Countdown. A lot of screaming and jumping made that night even more special for their guest, especially when the brunet's mother clung onto his side and encouraged him to celebrate with them.
He appreciated their efforts in making him feel at home.
The young couple now sat on the swing in the front porch, basking in their last night before going back to the dorms. They couldn't believe it was over.
Yoongi leaned his head against his boyfriend's shoulder who had an arm wrapped around his small waist.
"Thanks for taking me with you, Seokie. I enjoyed hanging around your family for the last two weeks." The mint head mumbled.
"Don't mention it. I can tell that they like you more than you probably like them." Hoseok chuckled.
The older hummed, nodding his head. He looked up, admiring the brunet's perfectly-carved side profile. It was truly a wonder how he got so lucky.
"Seokie?" His heart accelerated at his next words.
Hoseok looked down at him, feeling the male tremble a bit from the cold.
"I love you, Hoseok."
The brunet froze.
Suddenly his heart ached at the thought of making the older unintentionally fall for him. He didn't mean for that to happen. That wasn't part of his plan.
But it was too late and the three words were already spoken.
Hoseok looked back at the silence of the night, tightening his arm around the smaller's frame when he whispered an
"I'm glad."
