Chapter two

(Jade's POV)

I smiled, sweetly, and put my hands above my head. I'd been in similar situations.
"What seems to be the problem?" I asked, hands still up
"I know who you are..." The man spoke gruffly "... Jade Evans,"
"Who?" I tried to sound innocent. I had to admit this man was a looker. Most of the men they sent to catch me were old but he was young and handsome, with dark blonde hair and dark brown eyes.
"You know who, Evans," he sounded angry
"Fine, call me what you like," I smiled "But, I have no time for this,"
"Oh, really, what do you have to do that's so important," he asked, skeptically
"Feeding my horse," I turned to my Rocky Mountain horse, Firefly. "I'm staying in that barn, there,"
"Take the horse in and show me, then," he lowered his gun a little. I did as he asked and lead Firefly into the barn. I tied her up in one of the stalls.
"Is he your horse?" I asked and pointed at the chestnut in the stall beside Firefly. He nodded.
"Hey," I cooed, softly "What's your name, handsome boy?"
"I'm Caleb," the man said from behind me
"I was talking to your horse," I scoffed. He turned away a bit.
"He's called Hero," Caleb stiffened
"Does he want some hay too?" I asked
"Sure..." Caleb sat down and put his gun back in the holster. I pick up an armful of hay for Firefly and the some of Hero. I hooked my hat onto the stall door and sat down near to Caleb. He watched me for a while and pulled out a poster from his pocket. I could see the wanted sign at the top and could only guess he was checking the picture. I rolled my eyes and looked away.
"I don't trust you, Evans," he folded up the paper again
"I still don't know your name," I ignored his last comment "Caleb who?"
"Dale," he responded "I know that you are..."
"Oh, quit it!" I snapped "Yes, I'm Jade Evans. But, if you could please shut up, I'd really appreciate it. I don't pose a threat to you; My gun is in the pouch on Firefly's saddle. Anyway, I want some rest, I've got important places to be tomorrow,"
"Important places?" He asked "Some ranch that you can steal the cattle from and sell them for some money,"
"No, not today," I smiled and got about taking Firefly's tack off. I put her saddle on the stall door, next to my hat. I took her bridle off and untied her before locking the stall door.
