Chapter Six

Hey guys, long time no talk huh? I know, I know, it's been like 10 months since I last updated. That is insane. But your wonderful comments allowed me to kinda jump back in and revisit this wonderful world I created. Now, one reason I haven't updated is for time purposes. I actually finished this chapter in my notebook a few weeks ago but finally had the time to type it up more recently. But I hope you will all enjoy it. Y'all are my inspiration, Ily guys <3 But I will warn you, I have barely started Chapter Seven so I honestly don't know if I will be able to update regularly or if it will be slow updates. I hate to give y'all that uncertainty but it's the honest truth. So, we will see how the wind blows. Anyway, I'll give y'all a recap of what has happened just in case you forgot bc it has been 10 freaking months.

A world where the force is outlawed.  Qui-Gon Jinn and his padawan Obi-Wan Kenobi find a powerful child name Anakin Skywalker and train him to be a Jedi.  20 years have passed and Anakin has now been granted the title of Jedi Knight.  This comes with a tedious responsibility of looking over and training 5 younglings hiding from the monarchy.  He meets Ahsoka Tano, Lux Bonteri, Katooni, Petro and Niven and quickly bonds with them all...

Padme Amidala is a Princess of the galaxy with strict tyrannical parents hell-bent on ridding the galaxy of force users since one killed her sister before she was born.  Padme does not agree with these tactics and intercepts a note with the location of a base housing younglings.  Her plan begins to unfold...

Freedom. The feeling coursed through her veins and her body shivered with the endorphins flooding her nerves. She had never left the castle unaccompanied and Padmé Amidala felt so...

Free.

The Princess wanted to run, to break out in laughter and spin around with glee. She refrained doing this of course, knowing the severity of her mission. Sobering from her original mood, she raised her cloak over her head and focused on the lives she would be saving. Padmé traversed Coruscant through the blackness of night. The ever glowing lights of Coruscant seemed to be dimmer than normal, making it harder for her to see but easier for her to blend in among the shadows. Not wanting to take any public transportation, she decided to traverse to her destination by foot. Since it was a few clicks away, she packed her bag lightly, only a few provisions weighing her down. Finding her outfit was easy, hidden in the back of her closet was an all black outfit she kept just in case she would ever have to sneak out. Sneaking out, however, was the difficult part of her plan. Guards were constantly stationed at every entrance and exit point in the palace. She realized early on that it would be impossible for her to sneak out the palace without being detected through the main entrances...

--------

Backpack in tow, Padmé peered out the window of her third story room. Knowing the guards rounded the castle every five minutes, she waited for a pair to walk by. The light crunch of grass reached her ears and she knew her time had arrived. Her plan must be executed right as the footsteps faded. They did.

4 minutes. 59 seconds.

The woman pried open her windows and quickly ran to her bed to grab a makeshift rope she made of dresses. She tied the rope to a hook on the window ledge and pulled, testing its faithfulness. It did not budge. Padmé smirked in response and turned out her lights.

3 minutes. 29 seconds.

Her legs swung over the side of the window and her fingertips grasped the rope. She pushed off from behind and began scaling down the castle.

2 minutes 53 seconds.

Carefully, the Princess dug her feet into the wall and let her hands move down slowly.

2 minutes 2 seconds.

Reaching the second story, Padmé braced herself for what she had to do to avoid the curtained window. She let go.

Falling past the window in a heartbeat, the woman grabbed the rope yet again and abruptly halted her decent. Fire licked her hands but she ignored the pain and continued on.

1 minute. 0 seconds.

First story. She was so close. Footsteps of guards yet again slithered into her ears, they were early. With a couple of feet left and bushes below, she weighed her options. Drop or possibly be caught. She chose the former and let go. Padmé landed in the bushes silently and, despite pain shooting into her arm and ankle, rolled over and hid behind the bushes. Quieting her breathing, the guards walked past, talking as they went. Once the voices faded, the woman cradled her arm and limped out of the bushes to the secret door on the side of the castle walls...

--------

Her ankle still throbbed from her fall.

"This will definitely hurt tomorrow," She thought with a sigh. Pushing those thoughts out of her head, Padmé focused on the location etched in the forefront of her mind. Her eyes wandered warily at her surrounding in the upper part of Coruscant. Her legs were on autopilot as her she pondered over the peculiarities of the supposed youngling base. She was surprised to learn that it was in the upper levels of Coruscant, not the lower ones where more illegal activities took place. Padmé mused that maybe they were just hiding in plain sight. However, as she continued trudging on, the streets faded away and buildings turned into vegetation. This was an even bigger shock to her, as she had never seen natural flora on the giant city-planet. She vaguely wondered about the nature of Jedi powers, could they manipulate plant life as well? Padmé had heard whispers of their powers; mind control, telekinesis, advanced strength and speed, the list goes on. Of course, along with this, rumors of questionable deeds also surfaced.

"There was another incident of a Jedi breaking into the soldiers base..."

"A force user is wanted for nearly murdering hundreds of people..."

"Another Jedi was going around swinging his red lightsaber and stealing from citizens..."

"One force user was poisoning the minds of the citizens by feeding them lies about the King and Queen..."

However, in spite of these accusations, a few different kinds of rumors from passerby caught her attention.

"Did you hear about the Jedi who used her powers to push someone out of the path of a speeder...?"

"I heard that a Jedi saved a woman from being raped and left the offender tied up for the police..."

"Could there actually be some force users that are- good...?"

Padmé believed so. To her, no one was inherently evil despite what her parents drilled into their subjects. One had to be taught evil, taught to hate. These feelings went against the natural emotions of love that all beings had. Sadly though, once hate becomes ingrained, it is nearly impossible to get rid of.

Nearly.

Padmé hoped with all her being that 'impossible' would not be something those with hatred clung too. She stopped. In front of her stood a rotting building equipped with thick foliage. It weaved around every corner, almost choking the structure to death. The Princess blinked, this was where these children were staying.

"This will have to change."

Unsure of how to enter the facility and not alarm the children, she figured a direct approach would be the best option.

Padmé pulled her cloak tighter around her face in order to conceal it and knocked. To her ears, the echo of her knocks sounded hollow.

"Peculiar," She thought.

A minute passed by with no answer and just as Padmé was about to knock again, the door slid open. She took a few steps in, hoping to find a little one when the door abruptly shut behind her. Darkness assaulted her vision and made it impossible to make out any sort of shapes or images. She felt the door behind her and banged on it in vain. After her first attempt did nothing to change her situation, she gave up and whirled back around. Fear began to eat away at her calmness.

The Princess parted her lips to greet whoever was in the dark, but the first syllable of hello was shoved back down her throat after light footsteps tickled her ears. She slowly put a hand on her blaster, unsure if this was a trap set up by any number of enemies to the crown. Silence yet again engulfed the space around her.

"Am I hearing things?"

Padmé took one step forward. The breath she was holding was suddenly knocked out of her by blunt force. She slammed onto the floor, her back screaming at the assault. Grabbing her blaster, she tried unsuccessfully to get back up but she was kicked back down. Gasping for air, she turned over to face her assailant when a familiar noise filled the air. A blue lightsaber was inches away from her nose, humming threateningly. Padmé froze and followed the light to its owner. A pair of blue eyes stared back.
