Chapter Four

Princess Padmé Amidala strode toward the palace's throne room with renewed vigor. It was her duty, as Princess, to help others and to open the eyes of ignorant ones. At least, that is what she saw her parents to be. They were not evil tyrants, bending the galaxy to their will. They did not enjoy the thrill that came with every execution. The King and Queen were simply ignorant, that was all.

"Holding onto a twenty-five year grudge is definitely difficult to let go of."

However, Padmé believed that if she would finally speak up now, her parents would see that they were wrong. They would change their ways and a peaceful era would ensue. Just seeing that man today... it already confirmed what she knew in her heart. She resolved long ago that not all force users were evil, despite her upbringing. Padmé never told her parents about this belief... until now. The corridors leading to the throne room were long and winding, easy for a distracted one to miss a turn. Nonetheless, Padmé was focused and reached the looming wooden doors of the throne room in record time. The stoic guards in front of the doors eyed her suspiciously but bowed in her presence.

"I would like to seek an audience with the King and Queen." Padmé said, waiting patiently for the guards to open the doors... but they didn't.

"I'll take care of this." A voice called and footsteps rounded the corner. A tall, young man in a prestigious guard uniform came into view. Smirking, he walked over and dismissed the two guards from their posts. Padmé had to fight the urge to roll her eyes as the striking guard walked over to her.

"Princess," He bowed, green eyes glimmering, "The King and Queen are currently busy at the moment, it is to their convenience that you return on a later occasion."

The guard reached out to touch her arm but Padmé pulled away quickly. She knew that the young man had had a crush on her for ages but she definitely did not return the feelings.

"I understand Palo," Padmé began cautiously, knowing that he would soon throw all formalities to the wind, "However, this is an important matter that needs to be addressed as soon as possible."

"I know but what they're doing is pretty important as well, Padmé. I have orders not to let anyone in, sadly, not even their beautiful daughter." Palo said and grasped Padmé's hand.

"But we can take a little stroll around the palace while you're waiting..."

Padmé quickly yanked her hand out of Palo's and stomped on his foot. He flinched but a smile broke through.

"You're so cute when you're mad." He said and Padmé suppressed a sigh.

"Don't touch me again, Palo." She warned despite knowing Palo would not listen. Padmé just hoped that one day he would listen since her parents refused to get rid of him. She tried, telling her parents about his advances. The King and Queen brushed off her accusations, claiming that he was one of the best guards the palace had and they could not afford to lose him. After nearly a dozen times, she eventually gave up and tried her hardest to deal with Palo herself.

"Okay, whatever you say, your highness." Palo teased with a laugh.

"Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to speak with my parents." Padmé stated and maneuvered herself around Palo. As she laid her hand on the knob of the door, Palo started forward.

"I told you, you can't go in."

Padmé's eyes were hard as they bored into his.

"Try and stop me." She challenged and walked through the heavy doors. After she entered, she quickly closed the door behind her and turned to see a confused looking king and queen. Padmé stared across the aisle to her parents on their thrones, giving them her best smile.

"Padmé, what an unexpected surprise..." King Ruwee drawled, glancing at his wife, "I thought they were not going to allow people in here."

Padmé walked forward to close the distance between her and her parents.

"I talked my way in." She answered with a smirk.

"Always the diplomat." Queen Jobal remarked with a bittersweet tone. Padmé bit her lip and lowered her eyes, unsure of how to take her mother's comment.

"Yes, well you must be here due to something that is extremely important. So please, express what you must and please be going. Your mother and I have much work to accomplish." King Ruwee said. Queen Jobal nodded and they both looked at their daughter with impatience. A wave of nervousness washed over Padmé in this moment, unsure of how to present the touchy topic.

"Well..." She began shakily. Her parents' eyes bored into her, making it difficult for her to even get a word out. Padmé knew however that this issue was important and that she needed to tell her parents now... or else she may regret it for the rest of her life. Taking a deep breath, she opened the mouth and began again.

"I wanted to talk to you both about force users." Padmé stated and cringed at the reaction from her parents. Their faces contorted to ones of contempt and anger.

"What about them?" King Ruwee asked stiffly.

"Do you not think that maybe you have been somewhat harsh to them?"

"HARSH!" King Ruwee roared, "You know what they did!"

"And that was over two decades ago!",retorted Padmé.

"Are you saying what they did can be pardoned?" Queen Jobal asked, astonished.

"I'm saying you cannot punished an entire group of people, with abilities they are born with whether they like it or not, for the actions of one individual!" Padmé argued.

"THEY KILLED YOUR SISTER!" The King screamed, setting the whole throne room in an eerie silence after the echoes faded. Moments passed as the three stared at each other, daring for someone to speak up.

"One person did. And just because he was a bad man, does not make them all bad." She murmured, pleading with them in her tone.

"This man that you killed was innocent, he did nothing wrong. He did not kill anyone, he did not hurt anyone, he did not break the law, he did not kill Sola, he was a good man. And yet, he was killed for no reason."

"Yes he was! How could you be so blind? If one of them can kill, just think of what more of them together can do! They must all perish!" Queen Jobal exclaimed.

"Normal people can kill as well, mother! And you can't exterminate a group of people based on the actions of one! That's like condemning us because on of our family was a murderer!"

"It is not the same, Padmé! They are evil! They will stop at nothing until we are all dead, we must get to them first!" The King shouted, anger becoming palpable.

"Are you even hearing yourself? You sound like you are hell-bent on destroying them out of pure revenge!" Padmé was astounded at her parents reasoning. How could they be so unreasonable?

"Padmé, this isn't revenge. This is what is necessary to protect the galaxy, the majority of the sentient population. These people are a danger and need to be dealt with." The Queen stated firmly, no wavering in her resolve.

"These people must suffer for their crimes!" King Ruwee announced and Queen Jobal nodded. "All of them must be hunted down, Padmé, every single force user. To pay for their crimes and to make the galaxy a safer place."

Padmé couldn't believe her ears, her parents sounded... evil. An even more horrid thought then appeared in the front of her mind.

"All of them?" She quivered as her parents nodded. "What about children? Surely..."

"Even the children... babies, anyone who is a force sensitive must be eradicated." Jobal answered with malice tenged in her tone.

"What?!" Padmé screeched, shock encompassing her entire shaking body.

"Infants grow into adults, Padmé. A new generation of murders and criminals. Only if we wipe them out completely will we be victorious. That is why we have raised the alert on force users. More hunters are out than ever, we cannot risk anyone of them slipping through our fingertips." Ruwee explained.

"No! You can't do this-"

"Padmé Amidala! As Princess, you must know your place! Do not speak of this again! Leave us!" The King bellowed, infuriated his daughter would not stand by his side. Padmé clinched her fists, nails digging into her palms as tears threatened to spill over. With a sigh, she spun on her heels and ran out of the room. All she could think of was how foolish she was, how she thought her parents could see her reasoning...

Palo called out to her as she ran past him but she ignored his calls and continued on a path to somewhere she didn't even know. Through twists and turns, people shouted at her to stop but she continued. She just kept running, tears clouding her vision, hoping that everything would just disappear. This was all a dream... something...

A sharp pain suddenly expanded in her frontal lobe of her head. She felt her body hit the floor and other parts of her body then also registered pain. She flinched as the uncomfortable feelings spread.

"Oh my-, Princess? Are you alright?" A voice asked and Padmé squinted her eyes open to see whom the voice belonged too. Covering the bruise forming on her head, she registered the man in front of her as a messenger that worked directly for her parents.

"Oh yes, I'm fine." She replied and the man extended his hand, helping Padmé up from the floor.

"I'm so, so sorry, your highness- I didn't see you and-" Padmé couldn't help but laugh at his nervousness, but sadly, she knew her parents made many people nervous. Her, however, not so much.

"It's quite alright, you didn't mean to." She said with a smile. The man visibly relaxed and let out a breath.

"Thank you, well I should be on my way, I have an urgent message for the King and Queen." The messenger stated and began to move around Padmé. She noticed how tight he was clutching the piece of paper in his hand...

"Um, excuse me." She called, getting the man's attention. "What is that in your hand?"

The man looked down at his hand and then his gaze travelled back up to Padmé.

"Oh this? This is the note I'm suppose to give the King and Queen." He answered.

"What is it about?" The princess asked curiously, if her hunch was right...

"Oh, I don't know, your highness." The messenger answered, "I was just told it was important and to be delivered right away."

"Well, as a matter of fact, I was on my way to see my parents now." Padmé lied, "And since you have been so honest with your dealings, why don't you take the rest of the day off? I can give this note to my parents for you."

"Really?" The man questioned and as Padmé smiled and nodded, he handed her the note. "Thank you, Princess." And with those words, he swiftly began making his way back to his quarters.

Exhaling, Padmé gazed at the crumpled note in her hand. She felt guilty for lying, as she was not used to doing something that she considered to be wrong. However, she knew that it had to be done in order to get the information she needed.

"Here's hoping..."

The princess began to open up the note and her eyes scanned over the scribble.

JEDI YOUNGLING COMPOUND FOUND

SIX YOUNGLINGS

READY TO ATTACK AT YOUR COMMAND

A gasp escaped Padmé's mouth as the note then gave the address for the compound. The note was a death sentence for six children. As the shock of the note was raging through her, a plan also began forming in her mind. On impulse, she ripped up the note into tiny little pieces, the address burned into her memory. Likely, only one other person knew about the compound, the person who wrote this note. Though, Padmé knew that he or she would not mention it to her parents unless they mentioned it first. But if they never knew...

Upon ripping the note, she carried the scraps back to her room. She flushed them down in her 'fresher room and knew that she had to help those younglings. They were likely lacking food, water and clothing due to the fact that the force users could not go there often for fear of discovery. She had to help them, she would not let them suffer because of her parents' prejudice. Her eyes roved over to the window and she realized darkness was falling. Resolving what she was about to do, Princess Padmé Amidala grabbed her cloak off her bed and left for the kitchen.

A/N: Okay so I've got some explaining to do for multiple things I know, so just bear with me!

Okay so first and foremost, I am so sorry.  I haven't updated this since the end of June.  That is unacceptable.  Again, I'm sorry.  I have sadly been so incredibly busy with my job and then school and then SCHOOL AND JOB! When I tell you I've been drowning in homework, it's not that much of an exaggeration sadly.   So, yeah... so honestly, I won't be able yo update like I used to.  Life is just getting more real so I can't and won't ever be able to update like I used to sadly. :(

Second, Palo.  Yes, I am including him in this story.  Now, Palo was never actually played by any character and so the only real description we get of him is dark, curly hair and dreamy eyes. Now, I instantly thought of the one, the only, SEBASTIAN STAN YAS.  However, he really doesn't have curly hair but I found of pic of it styled curly (media pic) so Seby is Palo.

Lastly, I am currently writing Chapter 5 (slowly) but the thing is is that it's gonna probably be a longer chapter due to the fact there are going to be new characters introduced, etc.  So, until then, I hope to see you soon! ^-^
