Chapter 13

"Hey Wooyoung, you should probably head home now." Wooyoung glanced up from his desk to see the tall assistant in the doorway to the office.

"I've only got a little bit more to do. Dad will be angry if they aren't done before tomorrow," Wooyoung said with a sigh as he looked back down at the paperwork. There was the sound of footsteps before the papers were yanked off his desk.

"Gigi," he whined.

"I don't care what Mr Jung thinks. In less than 30 minutes there's going to be a snowstorm and I want you home safe," the assistant said.

"Mingi, dad will get mad. He'll take it out on you as well," Wooyoung said.

"I don't care. I would much rather deal with his misplaced anger than have you get hurt trying to get home during a snowstorm. You can take the paperwork home and finish it there if you really want but I've already contacted a driver to take you home," Mingi said.

"Fine," Wooyoung replied as he stood up. He really didn't enjoy the idea of being stuck in the middle of a snowstorm.

"Are you going home as well," Wooyoung asked as he shrugged on his coat and followed Mingi out of the room, grabbing the papers from his hands.

"Yes. As soon as you're gone, I'm going to lock up and head home," Mingi replied with a nod.

"You should probably put the papers in something. I'm pretty sure it's raining at the moment," Mingi said. Wooyoung nodded and slipped them under his jacket before zipping it up.

"Also watch your step outside. It's icy so it's easy to slip," Mingi added.

"Thanks mum," Wooyoung said with a grin. Mingi just chuckled softly and ruffled his hair. When they got to the front door to the building, Wooyoung turned and hugged Mingi tightly.

"Thank you for worrying about me," he whispered. Lord knows his father would not have the same care for him unfortunately.

"Of course. Look after yourself and I'll see you when you're in next," Mingi said, patting the youngers head softly. Wooyoung put his hood over his head before heading outside. It wasn't raining too much, more just spitting but there was snow on the ground and it was quite slippery. He tried to hurry up but almost face planted so he slowed down until he got to the car, hurrying to get inside. The driver drove off as soon as he closed the door and buckled in. He glanced outside and noticed just how windy it already was.

"Looks like it's going to be a big storm tonight," he said.

"Sure does. It'll be best to stay indoors," the driver replied. Wooyoung nibbled his lip anxiously before tugging out his phone and dialling Yeosang's number.

"I was just about to call you. Are you on your way home yet? This storm isn't looking too good," Yeosang said as he answered the phone.

"Yeah I'm heading home now. Mingi wouldn't let me stay any longer," Wooyoung said, making Yeosang chuckle lightly.

"Are you home yet," Wooyoung added quickly.

"Yeah I got back about an hour ago," Yeosang replied.

"Ok, I should be home in a bit. The roads are icy so we're taking it slow," Wooyoung said.

"Alright, stay safe. I'll see you soon," Yeosang said before hanging up. Wooyoung spent the rest of the drive home just looking out the window.

"Thank you," he thanked the driver before getting out and heading into the building. The front desk that would usually have Natalia at this time was empty so Wooyoung figured she must've gone home to which he was thankful for. He didn't want her struggling to get home in the storm. He took the elevator to the top, unlocking the door and going inside.

"Honey I'm home," he called out in a high pitched voice.

"Did you bring dinner," Yeosang yelled out from his room. Wooyoung chuckled and closed the door, heading over to Yeosang's room.

"You're the one that's been here for over an hour, you couldn't have organised dinner," he said as he crossed his arms and leant against the doorframe. Yeosang was sitting on his bed with his laptop in his lap.

"I've been busy," he said with a shrug.

"Yeah, well I've got some paperwork to finish but I can cook something after," Wooyoung said.

"Thanks Youngie," Yeosang said with a grin. Wooyoung rolled his eyes before leaving the room. He went into his own room and carefully shed his coat and pants, changing into something more comfortable. The heating was on so he didn't have to worry about getting cold. Once he was changed, he took the paperwork out to the loungeroom table and continued to go through. He was only 20 minutes in when Yeosang came out and walked over, sitting down beside him before he went onto his phone. Wooyoung smiled softly, appreciating the quiet company from Yeosang.

~~~~~
"Done," he finally declared an hour later.
"It's about time. It's past 7:30 and I'm starving," Yeosang said, leaning back on the chair and patting his stomach.
"Is that all I'm good for? Just making you food? Am I basically your housewife," Wooyoung said. Yeosang scoffed and raised his eyebrow.
"Bro I still do your tie for you. I wake you up when you sleep through your alarms. I make sure you're semi on time for appointments. I-."
"Ok, ok, I get it. I'll go start cooking," Wooyoung said, placing his hand over Yeosang's mouth to cut him off. Yeosang chuckled as the younger stood up and made his way towards the kitchen.
"I can help you if you want," he called out.
"Get your ass in here," Wooyoung yelled back. Yeosang jogged over and the two of them went through what ingredients they had to try and figure out what to have for dinner.
"What about burritos," Yeosang asked as he scanned through the fridge.
"That could work. We've got leftover rice from a few days ago," Wooyoung said with a nod. The two of them grabbed the needed ingredients and began prepping everything. It took less than 10 minutes for them to have their burritos made.
"This looks so good," Wooyoung said, his mouth watering at the sight.
"Help me put everything away and then we can eat. Wooyoung quickly put his burrito back down on the plate and moved to help. Once everything was cleaned up, they both went over to the couch.
"What do you want to watch," Yeosang asked as he grabbed the remote.
"Can we watch the second Avatar movie," Wooyoung asked.
"Again," Yeosang questioned with a raised eyebrow.
"What, it's good. Plus you're the one who asked me," Wooyoung said with a shrug. Yeosang chuckled lightly but started flicking through to find the movie.
"I'm going to turn the fireplace on," Wooyoung said as he got up.
"Why? We've already got the heating on," Yeosang said.
"Because it's windy, miserable and I like the aesthetic. Stop being so judgemental," Wooyoung said as he got the fireplace going.
"How am I friends with you," Yeosang said with a sigh. Wooyoung rolled his eyes as he walked over before he flopped back down beside Yeosang.
"I don't remember signing up for constant bullying," Wooyoung said with a sigh.
"I don't remember asking," Yeosang replied. Wooyoung giggled at the response and grabbed his burrito. Yeosang got the movie going and the two of them sat back, watching and eating their burritos.
~~~~~

"Hey Yeo, do you think I could ride one of those," Wooyoung asked from where he was snuggled up in the others arms.

"I highly doubt it. You have horrible balance," Yeosang replied. Wooyoung huffed and his the olders stomach, making him giggle.

"Asshole," he muttered.

"I'm just stating the facts, no need to get grumpy," Yeosang said. Wooyoung continued to frown in annoyance but melted when Yeosang tugged him closer. The movie was interrupted when there was a sudden thump on the front door. Both of their heads instinctively snapped back to look over at it. It was quiet for a few seconds before Wooyoung tapped Yeosang's arm a couple of times.

"You should go see what that was," he said as the older paused the movie.

"Me? Why me," Yeosang whispered shouted.

"Cos you're stronger than me and I'm still injured. If it's a serial killer then your screams while they're killing you will allow me to get a headstart," Wooyoung said.

"A head start where? We're in a penthouse at the top of a hotel with one door for an exit. What're you going to do, jump out a window and fall to your death," Yeosang said with a raised eyebrow.

"If I have to. I ain't letting anyone kidnap this fine ass," Wooyoung said with a shrug.

"You're an idiot," Yeosang scoffed.

"You wound me. Now go fight off the serial killer," Wooyoung said. Yeosang sighed but sat up, slipping out from under Wooyoung and standing.

"Do I still have your vintage leather jackets in your will," Wooyoung asked quietly.

"Unfortunately," Wooyoung muttered as he walked off. Wooyoung giggled to himself and started to move the rubbish into a pile while Yeosang did the investigating though it was most likely nothing. He jolted at the sound of Yeosang's scream.

"OH MY GOD! WOOYOUNG COME HERE NOW!" Wooyoung was shocked at his best friend's tone of voice as it's rare that he yells. He shot up quickly and raced to the doorway where Yeosang was knelt.

"What's wr-." His words cut off as he saw what was wrong. Laying on the ground with their head in Yeosang's lap unconscious was San, his hair wet and plastered to his forehead. His face was deathly pale and his lips were tinting blue.

"Fuck, he's freezing. Help me get him inside," Yeosang said quickly. Wooyoung was rooted to the stop, eyes wide as he took in the state that the fighter was in.

"WOOYOUNG," Yeosang yelled. Wooyoung hurried forwards and grabbed San's icy cold arm and helped Yeosang drag San into the room. As soon as they were inside, Yeosang quickly slammed the door closed. Wooyoung was left holding San's arm weakly and looking down at his pale face.

"Come on, we need to get him into the lounge room," Yeosang said quickly.

"Wh-What? N-No. No he needs to get to a hospital," Wooyoung said shakily.

"Wooyoung, listen to the storm outside. It would be far more dangerous to try and get him to the hospital right now. He's got hypothermia so we need to warm him up. We can do that," Yeosang said.

"I-Is he even still a-alive," Wooyoung whimpered, San's arm slipping from his grip. It hit the ground with a dull thud and laid there. He truly did look dead. Frozen and unmoving, his chest barely seeming to move either. Yeosang quickly knelt down and placed his hand to San's chest.

"He's alive Wooyoung but he's literally freezing right now so you need to snap out of it," Yeosang said. Wooyoung sniffled and slowly nodded his head in a daze.

"NOW WOOYOUNG," Yeosang yelled. Wooyoung jumped at Yeosang's voice but was still frozen in place. Yeosang growled before managing to scoop San up himself. He hurriedly took him to the loungeroom and laid him down on the couch.

"Shit he's soaking wet," he muttered.

"Wooyoung we need to get his clothes off and get him dry," he said quickly, glancing up to where Wooyoung was still frozen in the doorway.

"JUNG WOOYOUNG IF YOU DON'T START TO HELP ME GET SAN WARM RIGHT NOW THEN HE IS ACTUALLY GOING TO DIE," Yeosang screamed at him. He hates being rough with Wooyoung but the younger really needed it because he was kidding with what he said.

"I need you to grab some towels, the fluffy ones. Now," Yeosang told him. Wooyoung quickly rushed to his room, going to his bathroom and grabbing two towels he had set out for his next shower. When he ran back out to the loungeroom, Yeosang had stripped San down to his boxes.

"Good. Now help me dry off his skin. We need him to be dry before we can properly warm him up," Yeosang said. Wooyoung swallowed dryly before nodding. He gave Yeosang one of the towels before he quickly begun to wipe down San's chest. Yeosang moved to his feet to start drying him off there. Wooyoung's eyes started to water as his fingers came into contact with the ice cold skin.

"He's so cold. Why's he so cold," he whispered.

"He has hypothermia Youngie. I think he walked here in the storm," Yeosang said.

"Why would he do that," Wooyoung sniffled, trying to hurry up with the drying.

"I don't know but let's just not worry about it right now," Yeosang said.

"You start trying to dry his hair, I've got the rest," Yeosang told him. Wooyoung nodded and started to run the towel through San's hair, desperately trying not to look at his face.

"Ok Wooyoung, now I need you to go to your room and grab your fluffy and warm blanket off your bed," Yeosang said.

"My blanket," Wooyoung questioned.

"Yes. Go get it now," Yeosang said, taking over with drying San's hair. Wooyoung stood up and ran to his room. He grabbed the end of his blanket and yanked it off his bed, sending his pillows flying but he didn't care. He rushed back to the loungeroom.

"Good. Now help me move him a little bit closer to the fireplace," Yeosang said.

"A little? We need to put him right in front of the fire so he can warm up quicker," Wooyoung said with a frown.

"No. No, that's the worst thing we can do. He is freezing right now so we need to gradually warm him up. If we warm him up too quickly then he can go into shock and it will be worse for him," Yeosang said.

"Worse as in..."

"As in he dies anyway. So to start off with we're going to wrap him up in your blanket and put him near the fireplace but not too close alright," Yeosang said. Wooyoung was shocked at the revelation but he trusted Yeosang. The two of them gently picked San up and carried him to the ground a couple of meters from the fireplace. Wooyoung could feel the gentle warmth coming from the fire but it wasn't a searing heat.

"What we're going to do is we're going to sit him up and wrap the blanket around him. You're going to sit behind him and let him rest against you. Do you think you can do that," Yeosang asked. Wooyoung nodded and sat down on the floor behind San. Yeosang managed to wrap the blanket around San's frame before resting him back into Wooyoung's waiting arms. Wooyoung adjusted San so he was sitting sideways with his left side facing the fireplace and his right side leaning against Wooyoung's chest. Wooyoung glanced down at San's face and the tears instantly came back to his eyes. San's face was still deathly pale and his lips had the slight blue tinge. He let out a dry sob and the tears started to fall as he clutched San tighter.

"Oh Woo," Yeosang whispered as he sat down next to the two boys. He placed his hand on Wooyoung's back and rubbed it gently.

"He c-can't die," Wooyoung cried.

"We're doing everything we can for him Youngie," Yeosang replied gently. Wooyoung sobbed and shook his head.

"I made it awkward," he cried. Yeosang hushed him gently but Wooyoung didn't calm down.

"Sangie. Sang I t-told him I loved him," Wooyoung said. Yeosang jolted at his words, not having expected to hear that.

"That's great. So are you two together now or what," Yeosang asked softly. He wasn't sure why that would make things awkward because from what he's seen, San thinks Wooyoung is the most precious person in the world.

"No it's not. I was drunk and then he ignored me. So when I found out what I said, I told him it wasn't true. I tried to do damage control but the last three days he's been so awkward with me. I've put him off even though I took it back," Wooyoung rushed out before choking on another sob. Yeosang sighed and shuffled closer, wrapping his arm around Wooyoung's shoulders to comfort him. He knows for sure that Wooyoung loves San, it is so obvious to him. His best friend was falling in love from the very first time his eyes landed on San in the ring.

"Sweetheart, why did you take it back? Why did you lie," Yeosang said softly, brushing Wooyoung's hair back from his forehead. Wooyoung felt like a weight had been lifted from his chest at the confirmation from his brother, the person who knows him best in the world.

"I don't know. I w-was scared I guess," Wooyoung said with a sniffle.

"Oh darling," Yeosang whispered, moving closer as he drew Wooyoung's head into his chest. He ran his fingers through his hair as the younger sobbed into his chest.

"He c-can't d-die," Wooyoung sobbed. Yeosang glanced at San's face, letting out a slight breath of relief. He still didn't look great but his face was slightly less pale and the blue tint was slowly dying down.

"He's not going ok. Look at him, look at San Youngie. He's gaining back some colour. He didn't stop breathing and his heart was still beating so that won't be an issue. I know we can make sure he's ok," Yeosang said firmly. Wooyoung quickly lifted up his head and looked over at San who was still leant against his chest. He gently cupped San's face with his hand, finding it was still quite cold under his palm. He pulled away from Yeosang and wiped his eyes before wrapping both his arms around San/ he moved San's head up to rest against his neck. It was freezing but Wooyoung knew the skin-to-skin contact would help San warm up better.

"Hey Sangie," he whispered.

"Yes Woo," Yeosang replied.

"If San ever cuts me off, will you be there to hold me while I cry my heart out," Wooyoung asked.

"Of course I will," Yeosang said with a not.

"Let's bring him a bit closer to the fire now," Yeosang said. Wooyoung nodded so the two conscious boys moved the unconcious one a metre or two closer to the fire. Wooyoung felt the warmth pick up a bit but not too much which was good. He lowered his head and gently pressed his lips to San's head.

"You're going to be ok," he whispered. Yeosang slipped his hand under the blankets and nodded to himself when he felt that San's skin was definitely slowly warming up.

"Are you alright to stay here with San," Yeosang asked Wooyoung.

"Yeah, I've got him," Wooyoung said with a nod.

"Ok, you call for me if you need anything. I will come out and check on you two every once in a while," Yeosang said. He'd done what he needs to do, now he thinks it's best to leave Wooyoung to keep an eye on him. Wooyoung breathed out deeply when Yeosang left the room, holding San close.

~~~~~
Over the next hour, Wooyoung was constantly checking on San's temperature to make sure he was still warming up. By the hour, Wooyoung had moved them even closer to the fireplace. San's lips were back to their full colour and so was his face, however he was still unconscious. Wooyoung was desperately trying to stay awake but the warmth and the time of night were really getting to him. He felt his eyes drooping constantly and he kept nodding off for a few seconds before catching himself.
"How's it going," Yeosang asked quietly as he walked out to check on them again.
"Still good but I'm getting pretty tired," Wooyoung admitted.
"That's ok. I can grab some pillows and you can nap for a bit. San will still be right there with you so if anything changes, you're right beside him," Yeosang said. Wooyoung hesitated but he glanced down at San, relaxing when he saw how much better San looked than when they first found him.
"Yes please," he said. Yeosang left and came back a minute later with a large pillow. He placed it on the ground and Wooyoung laid down, gently resting his head on the end of his pillow and keeping San in his arms. There was a click and the lights flicked off, leaving the glow of the fire as the source of light. Yeosang came back and gently unwrapped the blanket from around San, leaving his body to rest against Wooyoung.
"Hey Yeosang, I don't think he would be too comfortable with being this exposed against me," Wooyoung said quietly.
"I'll grab a different blanket so he won't overheat," Yeosang said. He left and came back with a light bed sheet. He wrapped San up again before placing him back in Wooyoung's arms.
"Do you want the blanket on or is the fire warm enough," Yeosang asked gently.
"I want to make sure Sannie is warm enough so put it on," Wooyoung said. Yeosang nodded and laid it lightly over the two of them.
"Alright, you get some rest now," Yeosang whispered, placing a delicate kiss to Wooyoung's forehead.
"I love you so much Yeo," Wooyoung whispered.
"I love you just as much Woo," Yeosang said softly before he went back to his room. Wooyoung held San close and let his eyes slip closed. His fingers slipped down to San's neck until he found the steady thrum of San's pulse. He slowly drifted off to sleep with the relief that San should be ok. They'd done what they could to help him.
~~~~~

Wooyoung jolted awake all of a sudden, not fully understanding why. His eyes blinked open and he glanced around the room before looking down into San's eyes. His eyes. His sleepy but open eyes that were blinking up at him.

"Sannie. Oh thank god. A-Are you ok? C-Can you speak? Ca-."

"I'm ok," San said quietly, his voice a little raspy. Wooyoung let out a light sob of relief, sitting up and dragging San up with him as he hugged him tightly. San's arms slowly slipped from the blanket and wrapped around Wooyoung's waist.

"S-San, I need to tell you something," Wooyoung said shakily.

"Yeah," San asked softly. Wooyoung drew in a shaky breath, trying to muster up the courage to say what he needed to say.

"Promise you won't hate me," he asked. San sighed and rubbed his back softly.

"I could never hate you Woo. Whatever you want to tell me, go ahead," San said.

"I-I'm really sorry. I know th-that I'm probably sending mixed signals but I l-lied to you," Wooyoung said nervously. San frowned and pulled back so they could look at each other.

"Lied to me about what," he questioned. Wooyoung drew in a deep breath.

"You know that saying about drunk words being sober thoughts," he asked.

"Yeah," San replied slowly. His mind locked on one specific thing and his heart started to race.

"I'm so scared of losing you and after seeing how you reacted and how disgusted you were, I tried to take it back. But then I saw you half-dead in the doorway and I can't, I can't lie anymore. I have never felt this way about anyone before but there's no doubt in my mind that I love you," Wooyoung rushed out. His eyes were getting watery again, fearful for San's reaction. San was silent, his mouth shut and his eyes watching Wooyoung closely.

"Are you joking? Cos you keep saying d-."

"I'm not. I'm really not and I'm so sorry if that makes you uncomfortable," Wooyoung whispered, unable to stop the tears from falling. His heart was racing and he was so scared that this was going to be the end of their friendship.

"Wooyoung, I was never disgusted or uncomfortable with what you said," San said softly.

"What do you mean? You ignored me the day after," Wooyoung said.

"Because I panicked Wooyoung. You were drunk and all over me so I wasn't sure what to think. Not to mention that the only person I can remember telling me that they loved me is Hongjoong," San explained.

"Oh. So it doesn't disgust you," Wooyoung asked.

"No, of course not. I would have told you that day but I wasn't sure if you meant it and then you took it back," San said.

"I only said that because I thought you might be upset with me," Wooyoung said.

"Well we're idiots aren't we," San joked lightly as he wiped the tears from Wooyoung's eyes. Wooyoung sniffled and hugged San's waist, tugging him closer.

"Hey Wooyoung," San whispered. Wooyoung hummed in reply, resting his head down on San's.

"I um, I'm pretty sure I love you too," San said quietly. Wooyoung shot up straight at those words, his heart skipping a beat.

"You what," he asked.

"I mean I'm not exactly great with feelings but I can tell I care about you a lot. I do love you, but not like how I love Hongjoong, it's different. I'm sorry I can't give you more than that," San said with a sigh.

"Don't be. This is more than that," Wooyoung said, unable to keep the smile from slipping onto his face. San was a little nervous but when he saw the smile on Wooyoung's face, his own lit up.

"Yeah," he asked and Wooyoung nodded, pressing a kiss to San's forehead.

"I love you so much," he whispered, making San chuckle lightly.

"I'm glad. I um, I was pretty sad when you said you didn't," San said quietly.

"I'm sorry. I was seriously scared you were uncomfortable and I didn't want to lose you," Wooyoung said.

"You won't. You won't ever lose me unless I'm like, dead," San said. Wooyoung's mind drifted to seeing San unconscious and frozen in the doorway.

"You almost did die Sannie. What the hell were you thinking? You were frozen in our doorway, I was terrified," Wooyoung said sadly.

"I'm sorry," San whispered, pecking the youngers cheek softly.

"Why would you even try to come here in the middle of a snowstorm? It's a wonder you even made it to our door," Wooyoung said.

"Oh, ah. See there's this thing with our building. Whenever there is a storm or something that might shut off the power, they switch off the main power and go to a backup generator. You have to pay an extra $200 in order to use it. If you don't have the money then you don't get any power which means no heating," San said. Wooyoung gasped at that, thinking how cold it must be in those rooms as he couldn't see any insulation.

"I missed a few fights so I only had about $12 and then $50 in my back up for emergencies fund. I gave it to Hongjoong and Seonghwa so they could pull enough money together for their room," San explained.

"Why wouldn't they help you though? Or at least why wouldn't they let you stay with them," Wooyoung asked. He would never be able to forgive himself if he left a friend to freeze.

"Obviously I didn't tell them I didn't have the money for me. If I did then they wouldn't have taken the money and they wouldn't have had heating. Their room is smaller than mine and only costs $170 to get the generator but there isn't enough space for three people and I needed to make sure they were at least ok," San said.

"I figured that if I was going to freeze to death anyway, I might as well go somewhere that I can be looked after better. And you know, if I died, at least I would be able to see your pretty face one more time," San said with a shrug, making Wooyoung chuckle. Wooyoung decided not to point out that San was unconscious before he got inside so he never actually got to see him.

"What the owners of the building are doing is illegal. They're exploiting you all for money," Wooyoung said.

"They've been doing it for ages Woo, they aren't going to change," San sighed. Wooyoung sighed and pulled San into a tighter hug, rubbing his back gently.

"I'm sorry you've been dealing with this," Wooyoung said.

"It's ok, it's not your fault. Thank you for helping me. It's hard for me to ask for help but I'm glad you answered when I did," San said.

"It's not really me you should be thanking. I kind of froze and Yeosang took charge," Wooyoung admitted.

"Well I'll have to thank him when I see him but I'm still thankful for you," San said. The two of them sat together in each other's arms, just enjoying being close. Wooyoung eventually broke the silence with something that had been weighing on him.

"Are you still doing the fight," he asked. San immediately knew what he was talking about and he sighed.

"Yeah, I am. This is one fight I will not back out of. Zeus is an ass, not even just to me but to everyone. Bear told me what happened a couple of nights ago and I almost lost my shit. I'm so, so sorry I didn't answer your call," San said with a frown.

"No that's fine, I just don't want you to go through with the fight. I don't want you to kill him," Wooyoung said.

"Woo, I'm sorry but I'm not changing my mind," San said firmly.

"Please Sannie," Wooyoung begged. San sighed and tugged Wooyoung down to lay with him as he laid on his back.

"Let's talk about this some other time. It's really late now," he said quietly. Wooyoung wasn't happy about it but San almost died a few hours ago so for now he's just going to enjoy having him close.

"I love you," San whispered and Wooyoung's heart lifted. He snuggled up to San's side, nuzzling his head onto his shoulder.

"I love you too," he said happily. He does, he really does and he's not going to try and deny it anymore. He loves the boy in his arms and he's going to do everything he can help him in life.
